  1. Good idea but rules don't allow it:
  2. Santiago threw 182 innings last year- same as Santana. Those two are the surest locks for the rotation on the team, barring injury, IMO.
  3. I definitely think there is an element of that but his approach is the far bigger problem IMO. He doesn't seem to have any kind of gameplan to put himself into hitters counts. I know you don't want to take away a guy's aggressiveness but there is a point of diminishing returns that he is well across. When he's ahead in the count, he bats 1.148. When behind, .497. That's not a crazy split really, problem is he's only worked ahead in the count 205 of his 898 PAs. By contrast a batter like Torii Hunter worked himself ahead in almost a third of his PAs. And Hunter *only* batted 1.033 when ahead. As an aside, I wonder if this is where a Spanish speaking hitting coach who is also versed in statistics, would be an asset to the team.
  4. I'm surprised so much of the money is going on the Pats. 2 weeks ago a lot of folks were talking about the ATL - GB matchup almost like it was a formality on the way to a Rodgers - Brady showdown at the SB. That Falcons offense is good. Like, better than the '99 Rams good. 5dimes has the Falcons at +138, that seems like a solid bet to me.
  5. Fair questions, I'll give it a go 1. By my count, Santana is #3 on the infield depth chart. I wish they had better options but they don't. It might also be the case that Santana would more likely be claimed than Park, in which case DFA-ing Park is the less risky move. 2. See Brock's post above. 3. In the off chance they actually lose Park, then either the FO misjudged the demand for RH power or they are content to trade Park for the $9m it would free up. Perhaps a bit of both.
  6. Two of the teams mentioned in the Fangraphs article are the Rays and the A's- two teams who don't play in the same $8m/WAR model assumed on Fangraphs in every article about player "value." History suggests neither team is in the habbit of committing $9m on raffle tickets with "average player" upside (Cameron's words). The other team mentioned, Texas, is Levine's old home. He knows their roster situation, and its been widely speculated they are going after Napoli. They are also higher up on the win curve and aren't really in a position to be making speculative bets on completely unproven talents. This is smart asset managerment. Falvine are playing the market which has turned hard against RH DH types. The almost certain outcome of this is the Twins clear a roster spot and lose no one. Win-win.
  7. He'll clear anyways. If Chris Carter can't find a job- Park's ceiling, optimistically, then nobody's going to claim Park and his 3 year contract.
  8. Don't know why the fangraphs guys would hate it. Being a DH type Park is automatically an inferior value compared to whatever slap hitter can put on a glove and run the bases.
  9. Remember when Krispy Kreme arrived in Minnesota? So much hype for those greasy little airbags. I'll stick to my $2.99 napoleon pack for tyvm: http://www.retrocrush.com/archive2008/donuts/donuts400.jpg
  10. Carlos Beltran was traded for Dillon Tate + parts. Not strictly a DH but that's almost exclusively what he played for TEX.
  11. Ha! So I'm not just too damn old to "get it." Nope, won't be buying SNAP.
  12. Does it stop you doing a screen capture?
  13. Why not get nudes via text? I guess I don't understand what value is adding by using the app versus just texting.
  14. Whatsapp is cool, I've used it before. Instagram is kinda interesting. Snapchat - I installed it last year and for the life of me I don't understand wtf all the fuss is about. What am I doing wrong.
  15. "Vastly superior" is debatable. Better, sure, but still a lousy defender, baserunner, and TTO just like Carter. Only a little better in every component (actually worse at strikeouts though). They're similar. One is making 9 figures, the other's unemployed. It's definitely remarkable to some of us. YMMV.
  16. A year ago Chris Davis signed for 7/161. You have to admit the market has swung rather violently the other way. Suggesting it has over-swung isn't crazy.
  17. That's not a short list! Ah well. Hopefully there is a clear cut favorite by draft time.
  18. With May slated to start, what does the pitching picture look like. Maybe 1. Santana 2. Santiago 3. Gibson 4. Hughes 5. May Haley Pressly Rogers* Chargois Kintzler Perkins* Graham ?
  19. The proclamation that May will start, when we know the manager loves him in the pen, indicates that Falvine are taking these kinds of personnel decisions out of the hands of Molitor. (God, if Pohlad had just let them start with a clean slate at manager maybe we would see a stronger push for contention out the gate.) So maybe they won't let Berrios be blocked either, or at least, not for very long, assuming he crushes in AAA again.
  20. The Twins are starting a trend!
  21. The troubling thing to me about Park, in the small sample he was around, was that there appeared to be some validation to the fear that he might not catch up to MLB fastballs. Seems like when was able to do damage, it was usually against off speed pitches.
  22. One thing I'll be watching for are strikeout trends. Sano, Buxton, Park, Vargas, and Castro all struckout at clips north of 30% in 2016. Nunez and Suzuki, two guys who didn't strikeout, are gone. Polanco seems to have good contact ability, but Castro is going to add to the strikeout total. Would be huge to see fewer strikeouts, esp. from Buxton, Rosario, and Sano.
  23. Yeah I'm just wondering since Nadal looks to be the more powerful man if that benefits him on a slippery surface since he can't plant his feet like on grass or clay. But after reading a bit into it, it sounds like the ball doesn't bounce as high, so volleys are longer, and it comes down to a test of endurance and committing fewer unforced errors. Something just occurred to me now, perhaps Nadal simply deals with the heat better than Federer. FWIW I love the women's game too. And Serena is an amazing talent but let's face it, if any man, even the greatest - Federer let's say, treated line judges like Serena does on an all too regular basis, attitudes were not be so reverential towards him as they are for Serena.
