  1. The problem with Roden is he is just another "prospect" on the wrong side of age 25, and has done less than either Larnach or Wallner had done as the same age. He might end up being a better player than both, but what is his real upside? Kepler? Is this the kind of player the Twins need going forward? Sure, If ends up the worst MLB player of the Twins current prospects. (Keashall, Lee, Lewis, Jenkins, Culpepper, Erod), if he ends up in the middle of that pack, the Twins will find them in the same position they have been offensively. (Which isn't great) IMO, Roden and Outman do nothing to make this team better going forward. Rojas turns 23 over the winter (which is good) , but has never pitched more than 84 innings, that was in A ball and wasn't anything great. Last year pitched 62.2 innings and that was a bit better, this year has pitched 41.2 innings, his strike outs are up but the overall results again aren't great. He looks like a relief pitcher to me or another mid 20's starter trying to figure it out, like a list of 6 or 7 other pitchers. (I hope I am wrong on both, but this has been how most of the Twins prospects have gone)
  2. This isn't/wasn't a tear down, IMO, which is what makes it worse. Every move by itself (except Outman) made sense, as a whole they just confirmed what a failure this front office has been) If it was a tear down why are the guys that have proven they aren't real everyday players still here? Why did they call up the guys they called up, why is Outman in the minors. IMO, this FO to do this must feel like the Twins are not going to be sold and felt their job was safe, because what they have done to this team (trading, playing, developing) surely screams fire them!
  3. I agree with most of what you said, but I laughed at your comment because of this line. Too much depth? off all the pitchers you listed there is One SWR that at this time would be considered a MLB starter, the rest are still working on it or have never been in the majors. Just for Reference (here are their ages, not saying they are too old, but they aren't young either, if we were talking about guys turning 23 and 24 it would look better) My guess out of these 9, most end up in pen. Matthews - 26 May 22 Festa - 26 March 8 Bradley - 25 March 20 SWR - 25 September 27 Abel - 24 - August 18 Lewis - 25 - October 24 Morris - 24 - September 1 Culpepper - 24 - November 2 Prielipp - 25 - January 10
  4. So you are saying Julien's isn't hustling and giving effort? He looks like he is, he just isn't a good second basemen and the Twins keep trying to hammer that square peg in a round hole. I am not defending Julien (I used to be a huge fan) it just seems weird people are holding Julien to a different standard than Martin, and Martin is like 40 days older and in 271 plate appearances hasn't shown he is even a decent major league hitter. IMO neither should be wasted time on, Martin is at best one of the last two men off the bench type of player, do the Twins really need to see more of him to know that.
  5. Another good thing this FO has been good at, but hey I am sure that is another thing that is about turn around for them. 2024 - No Twins got votes 2023 - Julien two third place votes. 2022 - No Twins got votes 2021 - No Twins got votes 2020 - No Twins got votes 2019 - Arraez got one second and 1 third (of course he was already in the system when this FO got here) 2018 - No Tiwns got votes
  6. Here is an idea, lets have this front office that has failed to produce any real fulltime players and not one all star appearance rebuild the club. Seems like a wonderful idea. Twins All stars, Buxton (2)drafted by previous FO, Ryan, traded for, Castro signed as FO, CC, signed as FA, Gray, signed as FA, Lopez traded for, Arraez previous FO, Cruz signed as FA, Rogers, Polanco, Berrios previous FO, Odorizzi traded for. And only Ryan was established per se.
  7. It is only 14 at bats but he has 4 singles and no walks, is that taking advantage? Sure he hasn't gotten hurt so that is a positive, but IMO every game since the first he has looked worse (or like he always has) which is only 2 games. (Julien has gotten on 3 times in 13 plate appearances with 1 double)
  8. The Austin Martin that plays for the twins? His career OPS is .664 (career minor league OPS is .764), which might be adequate if he was a good defender. IMO these three shouldn't be in the Twins plans, unless of course they trade Lopez and/or Ryan in the offseason then they should be starters on a team trying to win 60 games.
  9. That has been a huge issue for this FO, starting the arbitration early and then having to pay early. </s>
  10. In 22 CC put up a 5.3 WAR, played 136 games and the Twins took 3rd in the Division. 23, he put up a 1.3 WAR in 135 (not great), in 24 he put up 3.7 in 86 games. This year wasn't good, but there isn't really a reason to believe he can't become a 3+ WAR if healthy. Also he had only twice played more than 110 games 7 seasons, so the injuries should be expected. CC wasn't in the top reasons for 22, 24, 25, him being on the team might be but that is more on the FO them him. And if he was playing hurt and telling the FO he should be moved to third, again that is on the FO. Paying free agents big bucks usually doesn't work for Mid Market teams, but you know what is worse, not developing all star players or even everyday players (Via trades or the draft) and again that is on the failing FO. I mean CC was't great this year but he did hit .267 with a .704 OPS. (Only Buxton had a higher batting average, and his OPS was 7th (but only .70 points from 4th) and again that is more of a sign of this FO than him. I am not trying to give him a pass, but I am thinking he is singing Morgan Wallen in his head: Why they ever sign a guy like me in the first place? Then turn around say that I'm the worst thing You hate that when you look at me, you halfway see yourself And it got me thinkin' If I'm the problem The Front Office might be the reason!
  11. Falvey two biggest signings are Correa and Donaldson. (Maybe Shoemaker and Happ as well 😀, opps forgot Vazquez) Traded, and didn't the Twins have to eat Salary on both? They developed a couple of relief pitchers, a starter, and basically no offensive players. The best thing this FO has done has been trading the former FO's players (Escobar, Pressly, Arraez, Gaterol, Palacis, Rogers, Polanco) for decent/Good returns, signing and trading Cruz, Ober and a couple of relief pitchers. sgined a couple of low cost FA (Solano, Santana) and maybe I missed a couple of things. Winning one 2 game playoff series. This in what 8 years? is/should that be enough to keep his job. HELL NO!
  12. Didn't the one with experience get sent right to AAA and the other one never has pitched more than 84 innings and has one horrible AAA game. That is what people are considering legit these days? Bradley is only 24 and has made 67 starts which is great his .9 career WAR and 4.7 ERA not so great. but I believe he can be a decent starter, but legit at this time may be a stretch.
  13. and/or they already have 4 active outfielders and they all bat left handed, so that left Martin or McCusker.
  14. He is the exact type of pitcher the Twins love, 4 starts 18 innings in AA and never has pitched more than 84 innings.
  15. Bradley (pitching), Roden (LF) Just realized Bradley is in the minors (WTF)
  16. The Twins have two guys hitting above .243 (Jeffers, Lee) , Lewis hitting .243, 5 guys hitting below .219 (Wallner, Vazquez, Julien, Clemens) and one with zero at bats. Is this what Falvey meant in his letter when he said ""On the position player side, we brought in impact potential. Players with the tool to grow into everyday contributors and raise the overall ceiling of the roster. The foundation is getting stronger, and we believe the next wave is starting to take shape. " I feel bad for the starting pitchers!
  17. Going to correct your statement, you should be fired and the team should start over.
  18. Don't disagree with what you initial assessment is, but the 40th starting pitcher is basically a one, two or three depending on the team, shouldn't the comparison be like the 120 -150th starting pitcher? I know this won't work either because quite a few in the top end of both are going to be on cheaper contracts. The idea that a FA 4th or 5th starting pitcher is going to make twice that of one of the better relief pitchers in baseball, I would think isn't an accurate statement. Pivetta got 4/55, Janse 1/10, Flaherty 2/35, Kahnle 1/7.75, Yates 1/13, Hoffman 3/33, Lorenzen 1/7, I think the salary of top RP compared to a 4/5 starter is much closer than you are implying.
  19. You are wrong there is 7 at least for the Twins and this front office. j/k Ohl turns 26 in a month and a half, not sure legit is the correct word for him, but hopefully he turns into Cole Sands or better (Sands minor league numbers were better and he was younger and Ober who debuted at a similar age were way better, even with the lost year - 2020)
  20. Roden, Julien, Adams, Fitzgerald, Martin Urena, Ramirez and Ohl. Very impressive list, Urena is 33, Ramirez is 35, Fitzgerald is 31, Martin 26, Julien 26, Roden 25, Adams 25, Ohl 25 if this group doesn't spring hope and eternal optimism I don't know what will. Just more proof of what a terrible job this FO has done.
  21. Great and he is 26, if you are 26 in AA and not doing what he did he shouldn't be in baseball. His OPS in AAA is .762, wow super impressive for somebody his age. (behind guys like Winkel, Bride, Ford, Schobel, Prato, Martin, Fizgerald, Cardenas, Gasper, Julien, Erod) doesn't give me much hope. But wait he might be another one of those Twins late bloomers. Who are they I forget?
  22. I am just locked on to what Baltimore did with Holiday, brought him up a bit early and he was overwhelmed and looked completely over matched (last year), sent him down to work on that. Was able to insert him right into the starting lineup at the start of the year. (he hasn't been great but looks like he will be somebody they can run out there for years to come and work on seeing what they have in somebody else. (similar to Henderson who had better results, he was a bit latter and he was still a "rookie" the next year) So if the Twins wait until it doesn't take away the rookie status, I would be down with that; with Jenkins for sure because of his age, but Culpepper turns 23 over the winter and if they are just starting his process next year, it is very unlikely he ends up the player the Twins and us hope he can be. (Worried less about his ROY possibilities than Jenkins. If they don't have some of these guys kind of figured out going into next year, well it is the rinse and repeat of the Miranda, Julie, Wallner, IMO.
  23. I get everything you are saying, but it just pushes off the rebuild and takes away any incentive to watch this team or cheer for them to win, with the Miranda, Julien, Gasper, Outman's I am just cheering them to lose, and I hate that, IMO I just don't see any of them being worthy 40 man spots, So besides the days Ryan pitches I will be hoping they lose and hoping the starters are doing well enough to be worthy of spots in the future. To me that is a bad spot for any team to be in. Unless they fire Rocco (which isn't happening) then I will want to new manager to have success.
