  1. Helman just got traded to the cardinals , opened a 40 man spot for 1 of the 2 that we just signed in free agency ...
  2. I think they're gun shy of the young and the feel good stories , since they blundered on the dobnak contract ...
  3. They continue to want to give roster spots to veterans , what have they done for us ( with the exception of Solano and Santana ) , they take away playing time from our young players ... I'm done listening to the FO raving about our prospects when they won't play them once they are at the major league level , I've stated many times that the reason the rookies are failing is because rocco thinks they have been taught and developed in the minors and once here should be thrown to the wolf's , every level has a learning curve and that should be no different here at the major league level , the propects have fullfilled their development at every level of the minors , at the major league level the coaches need to take and develop these talented players from the minors and make that talent even a better for the major leagues , a good manager should know this and implement the learning curve at the hardest level of them all ...
  4. Cory , I've got to say you are the most enthusiastic twins daily writer , it's good to have enthusiastic twins fans ... Reality says the twins haven't had the 2nd best off season , but it could change before the season starts ... We signed coloumbe as a bullpen lefty and he's had some years of success , Bader will give us depth covering the defense in the outfield , it would be helpful to the twins if he could hit around 250 ... Let's take a look at the hitters , the streaky hitters that is , 2023 it took half the season before the hitting materialized for a divisional win ... 2024 they were once again asleep at the wheel for a month , May through July they raked and then August through September they took the field and did not come to play ... If the FO thinks that is going to change overnight with 3 new hitting coaches , then once again they are living on hope ... Projections are nice on paper but they still have to take the field and come to play ... Pitching will keep us in alot of games , but the twins will lose alot of 1 run games if our hitters get just 3 hits a game ... Again pitching is our strength and our hitters and defense are a concern until they're not , they didn't improve the lineup with the addition of Bader , they helped the defense in the outfield is all ... Still sticking with my prediction of the twins finishing 3rd or 4th in the division with royals and Tigers , the team's to beat , I really don't know how Cleveland does it , they are a beatable team but they win with less quality then most teams ...
  5. If I felt the FO was competent , then I'd feel more confident in the signing of Bader , there was better options for the money ( wouldn't you think ) ... We'll have to wait and see Bader play in a twins uniform , hopefully he comes to take the field and I hope he comes to play , he was once a yankee , maybe they instilled some killer instinct in him , maybe ...
  6. Didn't read past the title , I'll go back and read in a bit ... It's a real free agent signing because of the money being paid out , by waiting this long in free agency did the the twins get a worthy player to help the twins in 2025 ( would have preferred grichuk who signed the day before , better hitter and can play all outfield position as well as Bader and got less money ) ... Was the front office savvy and creative enough to save any money for the payroll by waiting this long in free agency and did they get the right player ???? .. seems to me if they would of struck earlier in free agency they could have found a more reliable hitter with good defense and a right handed bat for about the same money , Bader receives a guarantee of 6.5 m with incentives, plus a buyout on a option year ... Bader hasn't played a game for the twins , so it's still a wait and see how productive he will be , seems like we saved some money by replacing Bader for Kepler ( kepler great defense but a streaky bat and said he didn't want to play centerfield ) It's okay to be excited about Bader to some extent , but you got to remember most veterans come to Minnesota to end their careers ( gallo , Margot for example have no reason to be major league players , minor league contract is all their worth ) ... One can only hope he finds his hitting stroke and his defense remains strong in order to take at bats away from larnach and Wallner ... I'll go back and read ...
  7. That's the best way to go through the whole season , expect nothing and get surprised , wins are just as important in April , may , June, July, August and September , the twins don't usually have to many winning streaks , but it seems they have quite a few losing streaks ... I know you were talking about Bader ...
  8. Some people wake up angry at the world ... Not me , I wake up angry at the twins , would have preferred grichuk at 5 ML than Bader at 6.5 ML plus ... Grichuk could have been capable of playing centerfield and his hit tool is alot better with more power too , Maybe the FO tried to sign grichuk and he didn't want to come here even for more money ...
  9. That's because this FO drafts shortstops and then makes them something else , they definitely haven't drafted many sure thing centerfielders , Jenkins and windomur kid could be centerfielders but I'm sure the jury is still out deliberating . ..
  10. It's a surprise signing and the salary raises the payroll unless we trade someone like Vazquez and then a hole opens up at catcher , paddock remains the most obvious choice to trade now because everyone needs pitching , pitching and more pitching , a team with money has got to be bold and creative to add paddack , the money teams are out there but they've already depleted their prospects in trades elsewhere ... Pros ... What we will get from Bader , above average defense and some speed and the righthanded outfield hitter we needed ( i guess ) ... Cons ... A below average hitter that doesn't belong hitting leadoff , sure hope he doesn't pinch hit as bad as Margot , a 250 batting average would be nice ... Go Bader go , baseball is a mental and physical game , get that MOJO mental game processed in your mind and take the bull by the horns and run with it ... I feel bad for the players that have put their time in at the minors and a cup of coffee last year , they'll have to start in AAA once again or be dfa'd off the 40 man , we need 2 roster spots , my guess Is headrick or gasser or 1 of helman or keirsey ...
  11. Wallner and Julien came up the same year ... Julien showed a good bat but Terrible defense , but that defense improved , then his bat failed and his defense floundered in his second year ... Wallner had a decent bat with strikeouts but his defense to start was uninspiring but again he improved with more playing time at the position , he's considered better at right field because of his arm strength , I'm not quite sure , he might end up being a better left fielder when someone better comes along to take rightfield away ... Wallner has power when he connects , Julien needs to go to AAA and regain his focus on hitting and defense and earn his way back ...
  12. The twins are in need of filing holes at a few positions but are only adding pitchers up to this point ... It's called building a pipeline of pitchers , haha ... 3 million on coulombe is a gamble worth taking , Gallo at 11 million was not ...
  13. The writer gives way to much credit for this FO being creative ... Being creative after all the better players are signed and now you begin the dumpster diving in free agency is not creative because the prices have dropped , well if your smart you have to realize the talent has dropped significantlyas well ... Why didn't the FO be bold and creative when they signed santana last off season and give him a base salary with incentives and a club option for a second season with a base salary and incentives , santana was fun to watch at first base , this year our pitchers era's are going up... Because the talent that mostly remains in free agency is the lesser talent , it only makes sense to go with our younger players who are just as capable to play the game as the remaining free agents are ...
  14. I'm glad someone brought up the Browser crashing , mine crashes all the time , mostly when I'm typing a post , I thought it was just me because I'd never heard any complaints before ... TD we have a problem !!!
  15. I always knew there was something not quite right with his defense , I was aware of his throws not being accurate , but wasn't aware of the route to take to make the good throw to nab the runner ... He should get a little better and that little bit I can accept , he won't be a kepler in right field , Kepler was good , no question ...
  16. That I knew , I was responding to another post from DJL44 ... When pitchers and catchers report , you can add players to the 60 day IL ... I'm not sure we have anyone injured that severely , so we will have to trade of DFA someone ...
  17. I wish him continued success and health in a twins uniform ...
  18. Nick , you better shake those feelings .... But if we could swap Duran and hendrique for casta , I'd be okay with that , we seem to have a surplus of relief pitchers on paper at least ...
  19. Does anyone on the 40 man roster have a nagging injury to be on the injured list ??? ... Don't you have to have someone go on the 60 injured list to make room on 40 man without dfa-ing someone ??? ... I think the players are pretty healthy going into spring training ....
  20. My guess would be headrick is first to be dfa'd and would clear waivers at this late date of off season or it could be catcher camargo !!!
  21. The x-factor , make or break focus on twins hitting ... Health, stamina and staying off the injured list with disabling injuries I agree with , I didn't read through all the players ... I'm going to add a main ingredient that all twins hitters need to focus on .... ----- HIT TO ALL FIELDS ------ , If our hitters would focus on hitting the ball with the bat to all fields of play , the hitters will see better pitches to hit from the opposing pitchers , because if our hitters have adjusted to this philosophy , their pitcher has nowhere to adjust to the weaknesses of twins hitters ... By seeing better pitches , the occasional homerun ( we are not a homerun hitting team ) will come either by pulling , straight away center or by going opposite field because the twins will be seeing better pitches to hit for a more exciting style of twins baseball ... Get on base by error of the opposing team , walk , bunt for a single ( make the opposing teams defense work ), single , double , triple , put the ball in play , hit and run and advance runners by hitting behind them , speedsters need to steal bases ( santon in the world series stole his first base in more thsn 4 years ) ... Name of the game are wins ( April through September and hopefully in the playoffs ) , by getting wins we need to produce rbis and runs scored , by getting more rbi's and runs scored we have to have better strategy against the better teams to win .... Baseball is supposed to be fun , are the players really having fun when they strikeout and don't produce in key situations , at times they do but most times not ... Re-read again if you are confused at what I say ... WE ARE NOT A HOMERUN HITTING TEAM ...
  22. I too would have added chase petty into the conversation even though he was traded , he was a twins high school draftee for a short time and is progressing up the system nicely with Cincinnati's minor league system ...
  23. I would flip Jax with the higher projection over Duran , I have my concerns about Duran , he really doesn't seem to fool the batters with his pitch mix , but he once said he wasn't calling the pitches to throw , if it wasn't him or our catcher , gee I wonder who then ???
