  1. A 103 OPS+ for a DH that brings nothing else to the table is pretty bad. He might improve from consistent at bats, but I'm pretty skeptical. K rate is huge. He did have one brief stretch where he walked into some bombs, but seemed exposed with more at bats.
  2. Are you sure he hid the injury?
  3. The main problem with Vargas is he doesn't hit all that well and provides no other value. I don't mind giving him one more shot, but I have minimal expectations and would welcome a veteran bat.
  4. I would guess 6-2 minimum, Kennedy and Roberts joining.
  5. A little under. I'm now leaning towards 76.
  6. Could see him take a year off and taking a FO role.
  7. I suspect you are right. Wouldn't be surprised if he retires in the next couple of months.
  8. 60 day dl isn't an option yet
  9. In my mind, schedule should be: 18 games against division - 72 games 6 games against all other teams in league - 60 games 1 additional home and home against other teams finishing in same place in other divisions in league - 12 games 3 interleague games against each team in another division in kther league, rotates each year - 15 games Final 3 games are against designed interleague rival
  10. At the beginning of the season I'd take out the 'probably'.
  11. That ship pretty much sails after confirmation.
  12. Which isn't to say I want any part of Sessions as AG.
  13. Kelly will leave first, but not because of incompetence. In reality, only 4 cabinet positions really matter - State, Defense, Treasury and Attorney General, with Homeland Security a maybe. None of them strike me as grossly incompetent.
  14. Exactly. Especially a LH. Melotakis is a nice prospect, perhaps ready by mid-season, but not a factor on opening day.
  15. I suspect that whether it works out or not, he's in line to get a job in the front office.
  16. I agree with the first point. It absolutely confers an advantage when it is a normal election year. But one of the "problems" with gerrymandering is that it is susceptible to a wave election. If the Dems can flip the election 5 points it could flip 30-40 seats. Not a huge firewall. I don't necessarily buy the second point. Dems did just fine in 2006. It is not a Dem/Rep problem as much as it is a party in/out of power problem. Much easier to rally around opposition than it is to rally around in support.
  17. Fair, but I also think people underestimate the opportunity in gerrymandering in a wave election.
  18. Agree with the last sentence.
  19. Much easier to rally opposition than to rally support. A President being in power generally loses everything else. Obama seemed worse mostly because Dems were in a really strong position in 2016, nowhere to go but down. These trends will flip, and flip bigly, starting in 2018.
  20. Falvey might be thinking the same thing. Per Rosenthal https://www.facebook.com/kenrosenthalsports/posts/1281802635218798:
  21. Hey, 20% chance the Twins can compete for a playoff spot is looking good!
  22. I thought this was a really good target for a minor league signing. He's trying a new arm angle, has maintained his velo. Absolutely worth a flier to see if anything is there.
  23. I've long thought extending Dozier was an acceptable alternative to making a bad trade. Would probably have to do it now for it to make sense. Not sure I would add more than 3 years to the current deal. Would time out with the rest of the contract obligations.
