  1. I kind of have, You should consider how you came in swinging with calling this season a non-success. By that same logic the Twins were a non-success for all of the 2000s and you are vocally opposed to that argument everytime someone posts it. And rightly so, but your arguments here are completely opposite here. The Royals' move was a success and good for them.
  2. Some teams play 165 and you call that a success then? Being one of the final 10 teams playing is a success, trying to minimize that seems like sour grapes.
  3. I'm surprised and now excited to see this play out. Great run for Gardy and I hope he finds success with what's next, but this was the right thing.
  4. Yes it did. It's that simple.
  5. But what they did worked. They swapped Myers, Grienke, and others for Shields, Escobar, Cain, and Davis and the results worked. I know this is a hard one for you to back down from because you all but had Dayton Moore tied to a stake, but his approach worked. If the best you can say is that his strategy isn't always going to work.....well then welcome to every other strategy ever. The Twins have a very similar build happening and I think a degree of aggressiveness (it can look differently) is called for soon.
  6. The answer is yes, but that opportunity may be a year away.
  7. As this board has shown ample evidence of - trying to project 3-4 years out is basically impossible.
  8. Well, given my point, can we at least agree it's a helluva lot closer than four consecutive bottom tier finishes?
  9. Conclusion: Our defense sucks.
  10. I totally nailed the under call on 70.5! Yay! Wait.....
  11. It's hard to predict a championship for the Twins right now. The Wild are at least advancing on the prospect of it. The Twins are still miles away.
  12. I think the run differential improvement is encouraging. One of the reasons I thought this team wasn't going to get much better this year was because of how lucky they were to win the games they did with a run differential as awful as 2013s. This team may have been a bit on the other side of the aisle for bad luck, which could be encouraging for next year. Ultimately I think next year boils down to what happens with Escobar and Santana and others that may have hard adjustments and need to prove they are the evolved player we saw this year and not the more likely version that they've demonstrated for years in the minors. So I see some reason to be cautiously optimistic we may have taken a step in the right direction finally. Hopefully the Twins aren't content with that step, however.
  13. Nice to see the power back the last few games.
  14. Excellent questions. I hope the Twins' staff in charge of such matters are asking and investigating these very questions. I'd also like to commend everyone, very informative discussion here. I wonder though if there isn't still synergy from top to bottom of the administrative/managerial staff. The problem seems to be that the talent being brought up no longer fits the synergized philosophy we've seen the last ten years.
  15. Yeah, Moore got roundly blasted and he gets the last laugh. I hope Shields resigns with KC and really cements that deal as a good one for the Royals. I've found my team to root for this postseason.
  16. Judging a coach by their player's success may not be fair, but the alternative is that there is nothing to judge them by. In that scenario you've essentially rendered the position meaningless. I tend to think the coach's role is overstated, but it's not meaningless.
  17. Good for Hughes....but I think he's doing alright for himself either way.
  18. I too expect Mauer to make up for some of that regression, but I'm wary to count on young players to produce above average. They might, I won't rule it out, but I wouldn't count on it.
  19. In fairness (and god do I despise that you made me post this) - they did run an OTL exposing cover ups by the Ravens just a few days ago. That said, this is an awesome move for Simmons to make ESPN look pathetic. And anyone that makes ESPN look bad is doing good work in my book. Now just take Grantland and be your own thing Simmons.
  20. I think that is a very dubious position. The offense far outpaced what I thought they could for sure, but they did it on the backs of guys like Danny Santana, Escobar, Suzuki, and Vargas. There is a good chance we see a step backwards (maybe quite significantly) from all of them. For some, it'll be adjustments (ala Arcia) and for others it's just that they played way over their own heads. But if the team addresses LF with a signing that could greatly help offset some of those worries.
  21. Yup, sign me up for that as well. I think the Twins could do well with Masterson.
  22. I think that's on the high side. I'd put it closer to 7, though I think the number next year is still higher than that.
  23. To a degree we do have to wait, but waiting doesn't mean you do nothing either. What we're waiting on is true title contention, but we should still be building up the team as much as we can. I think sometimes these two things are wrongly portrayed as mutually exclusive.
