  1. Yeah, I wouldn't use the term "dump" if they are asking for Tijuan Walker.
  2. That's true. Though hasn't Flip been hesitant to do that? I remember him complaining a bunch last year about not having room for 2nd rounders.
  3. I don't think the Nationals are going to feel comfortable turning things over to Danny Espinosa and letting Desmond go. I don't think his name is even going to entertain a possibility of a trade.
  4. Bennett is making a lot of cash too and I'd be surprised if we want to keep both of those 2nds. Maybe they can find a better rotational player for one of them with the pick.
  5. I think he'll be used similarly to how Boyer is right now. I also hope this isn't the end of the bullpen repair, it's an excellent first step though.
  6. Better be. I'm hoping Flip also finds a way to deal a Pek or Bennett tonight for something of valuable. (I know how much of a long shot that is)
  7. I'm very interested in seeing him help stabilize the bullpen.
  8. I generally agree that most of these guys don't stand a chance against Clinton, but Rubio and Bush offer some hope in their ability to carry Florida. It's just that pivotal of a state to win. The problem I have with projecting this election is that this group of candidates may really drive a lot of people away from voting at all just out of disdain for the options. It's hard to predict who will be hurt worse by that.
  9. I completely agree with drjim, the rhetoric against sitting presidents by the opposing party has been ramping up ever since Newt and the Republicans went after Clinton. It got nastier and nastier throughout the Bush administration and now it ramped up even more with Obama. As for gun violence - the NRA does have way too much power, but so does basically every lobbying group from telecommunications to labor unions. Lobbying is easily the most toxic part of our politics on all sides. But the distinction in America is not the ease with which you can get a gun. Gun violence is worse here because nowhere else in the world are guns as cool and badass and manly and awesome and whatever....as they are here. It is a uniquely cultural phenomenon IMO.
  10. Had a god awful response to the State of the Union a few years back, I know that.
  11. Of this thread or the lineup?
  12. I fear the reprecussions of this fudged attempt......
  13. Ah, my fault. But how were we supposed to stop this particular gun sale? Everything was legal, he had a minor drug charge, and nothing else on his record?
  14. I think this would be a bad case to do so. I'm not sure it's possible to craft a law that prevents a father from handing his son a gun.
  15. Ok, I was just curious. I've always wanted to find a place with a more adjustable spray chart, thanks.
  16. Is there a place you can isolate that kind of data like that or is this anecdotal?
  17. Agreed, the more I hear him the more I like him. (And the more I understand how his personality offended our previous regime)
  18. If May is the one that loses his spot....I may lose my mind.
  19. Pete Rose was one of the most prodigious hitters in baseball history, was an icon during his era, and easily a HOFer outside of these issues. People talk about it because it's a really unique situation.
  20. Sad that it took this to make that happen, but at least it's a step forward.
  21. I like a lot here, except I wish Mauer and Dozier were flipped.
  22. That's why our conversations have to go past that or it's a waste of time. And the issue is more than acknowledgement, it's about our intentions in how we try and solve problems.
  23. I don't consider education a social issue. Republicans are ass-backwards on education and the Democrats are in the pocket of a union. So neither of them are doing us much good in that respect.
  24. For me it's also important to consider what they'd ideally accomplish. I don't even agree in principle with what Democrats/liberals want to accomplish fiscally. But the Republicans are wolves in sheeps clothing - they're every bit as bad but they hide it with rhetoric.
