  1. I'd see what the Red Sox want for Haley. Or just cut Breslow.
  2. I think the Blues probably close it Saturday, but if Allen is mortal I think we still have a shot.
  3. The team finally caught a break so they could score first. I think they win Game 5, then things get interesting. But if Jake Allen isn't exceptional, we absolutely have a shot. If it weren't for Allen this would be 3-1 the other way.
  4. That's a fair point, I guess it comes down to how effective that changeup can be.
  5. Wow, I guess I didn't think they'd actually remove him altogether. So I guess the question is, does he do something like what Glenn Beck did with The Blaze and arguably broaden his sphere of influence? (If take a more behind-the-scenes role)
  6. As a general rule, I think you should exhaust your options to leave a guy in the rotation before you move him to the pen. I'm not sure we've exhausted our options yet with Duffey.
  7. Given that ownership and the former GM both have stated in the past that budgets and money for the team don't work that way.....not really.
  8. His entire story is the perfect example of "stranger than fiction". You couldn't even make up all the twists and turns and shocks. Wow.
  9. And it's not like his influence will wane either. His fans will find him wherever he goes next.
  10. Bit of a small sample to declare those trade wins wouldn't ya say? (And this is from someone that argued vociferously that the deal was a good one at the time) It's not like we spent the Nolasco money this offseason either, so let's not go down that road....
  11. In this series I agree, I was making a larger point about their chances in general this year. They just have nothing after their first two lines. And if those lines are getting whooped like they are by Nashville - they're toast. I'd give us an infinitely better chance of rallying from 3-0 than them.
  12. I love the velcro wallet.
  13. I don't appreciate being nickled and dimed, simple as that. It doesn't inspire me to invest my time and effort and especially not my money.
  14. A player you have control over for more than a year+ has tremendous value to your objective as well. At the end of the day, the team needs to be able to identify and acquire the players that will push us to contention. Dealing short term controlled vets in down years seems like one ideal way to do that.
  15. Might be the worst sign we've seen yet. Now the confidence is shattered too.
  16. So what has to be the main piece? I feel like you, and some others, say these things but there really isn't much actual substance to it. Or you're well aware your expectations are unrealistic. You demand a return so narrowly defined as acceptable that you basically stack the deck for your skepticism to be warranted. So is your main piece demand based in the real world or are we back to a lot of what it seemed like this offseason with Dozier?
  17. At some point I expect we just say screw it and go with a 17 man pitching staff and let the bullpen guys fight it out for the DH spot.
  18. Yeah, this isn't even all that close.
  19. MLB has perfected the money grab, it's pushing me further and further away from the sport quite frankly.
  20. Not for me. MLB.Com can't even accurately list what Fox has no problem listing. Again speaks to me of the league's priority.
  21. Heh, I love a national broadcast schedule that feels like it gets slapped together like a Thursday Night Football schedule. Good idea baseball. Even more reason to not give them one red cent.
  22. Not all, multiple broadcasts past June are listed. None of your numbers add up with what is posted on MLB.com.
  23. Where do you count 50 on ESPN? Where are your numbers coming from? I'm taking them straight from MLB.com.
  24. In short, National Broadcast tally board: MLB: 60 NHL: 106 NBA: 165 If we want to start counting what airs on league-owned networks that's going into dicey waters. Largely because those schedules fluctuate and because, if you want to get technical, they run replays and all sorts of other formats to watch games all the time. You want to start counting minutes devoted or what? I washed out the league-owned networks because that's just going down a road impossible to tally. Not to mention those channels are not commonly owned in order for the national broadcast to have all that much meaning.
