  1. There it is....just....ugh. This guy is an ass. I don't blame KAT or Wiggins for hating this guy.
  2. I can't look for the audio right now, but someone asked Jimmy about this and he had a rambling stream of BS that was infuriating to hear. He may be my least liked NBA player after that. He's delusional, sanctimonious, and basically comes off as a child. Get rid of him.
  3. Garver and Austidillo's flexibility might mean three catchers. Gardy would be proud.
  4. I won't disagree with the bulk of your post, in fact I agree with most all of it....but there are people that aggressive. Who refuse to accept the team selling at deadlines. Who argue Berrios for Tulo would've worked fine. Which was my point with Tulo. That kind of thinking can be just as bad as the Twins do nothing approach. I take their active deadline as a positive sign of aggression. But I will be critical right there with you if this off-season is more of the same.
  5. Every day with Thibs is another day wasted. Fire him.
  6. You are arguing a strawman. No one, certainly not me,is claiming the Twins have been brilliant. They've been too passive IMO. However, the crowd that wants nonstop aggression should recognize those drawbacks too. The Tulo point is to illustrate one such mistake. We would have given up a valuable pitcher for an albatross contract, who can't stay healthy, and whose bat is no longer elite. (And is now a subpar SS) That would have been a collossaly failed trade. That shouldn't be debated.
  7. Do I really need to lay out the contract, WAR, and injury history here? This is silly at best. Disingenuous to a fair conversation at worst. I'd prefer we all accept how wrong we often are.
  8. Seems Capps is not a FA, last time I trust sportrac!
  9. You would've dealt Gibson or Berrios for him. Not conceding that as a mistaken idea is sorta silly.
  10. I disagree Carter Capps is going to be a minor league deal. Maybe I'm too high, but that's way too low.
  11. You are correct, I forgot about him. Not sure what to think about Castro.
  12. We're all secretly blaming our wives here because doing so with anonymity on a sports page is our only outlet. (In case my wife reads this.....I love you hunny. You're the best. I was obviously joking about ever being right)
  13. SS Iglesias 4/50 3B Escobar 4/50 RP Britton 4/60 RP Capps 3/30 OF Cutch 2/20 That's about 60M and would make for the following roster: C - Garver/Austidillo 1B - Austin/Sano/OF 2B - Polanco SS - Iglesias 3B - Escobar LF - Rosario CF - Cutch/Buxton RF - Kepler DH - Sano/Austin Bench: Adrianza/Cave/Cutch SP - Berrios SP - Gibson SP - Odorizzi SP - Romero SP - ? CL - Britton RP - Capps, Rogers, Hildy, Reed, May, Moya, Magill/Whomever I'd also be looking to bargain add a SP that someone feels they are paying too much. Like Grienke.
  14. I agree. I view July as a positive for this FO, they sold off in a way unprecedented by the previous FO. I know others don't view that favorably, but I do. I want the FO to find the right times to buy and sell. Sometimes it may look passive and sometimes aggressive. What I find to be a misguided approach is one that can't find that balance. Or accept the prudence of it.
  15. That's sorta the point. And it's the opposite of misleading actually. Any given action/non-action is going to have people right and wrong on it. But I think it's fair, when people want to crow about how right their strategy is, to point out some glaring examples of when they would have been horrifically wrong too. When you only see one side (Verlander) you are being mislead. When see Tulo's thread? Well, that's called having more context, not misleading. Personally, I'd prefer we not bring up old threads about how right we are. So in the spirit of context, the same people who wanted Verlander were willing to give up Berrios for Tulowitski. If you want to drudge up old threads to say "Look how right I am!", it's only fair to point out the threads where you were also laughably wrong. As I said - we're all in that boat. The Twins would be fools to hire any of us with our 50/50 track record on "What should we do?" scenarios.
  16. Well, he was with a key troublemaker in his entourage. Once you add your wife it's nothing but shenanigans of the highest order.
  17. If you sign Marwin Gonzalez it does literally nothing to change Adrianza's status. He's a fine bench piece. I probably tender all of them but Grossman. That's only 33M for a third of your roster. Another third is making pennies. Leaving a lot of money to play with.
  18. Now link the Troy Tulowitski thread. Most of the same people crowing about that thread will have a plate of crow to eat. When we discuss actions like this people are far too black and white. They either are gun-shy about every deal or they've never met an "aggressive" move they didn't love. Well, truth is, they both hvae a pretty damn high failure rate.
  19. I think it's also worth pointing out that the Oakland Athletics were a playoff team with almost the exact opposite philosophy. Ditto the Braves. More than one way to skin a cat.
  20. It should be pointed out that in recent memory other teams have tried this and seen very different results. The Padres a few years back, the White Sox had a few years of doing that, Seattle, etc. I think aggression, like prospect hording, trading, and any other actions a club can take are about timing and approach. You can't constantly have your foot on the gas any more than you can constantly ride the brake. Smart teams find a way to take their foot off to reload and then press it back down hard when the time is right.
  21. That's fair, there absolutely could be more to it. I leave the door open to be highly critical of Sano should more come to light. As sketchy as all those details are, he was with his wife, in the DR (where having an unlicensed vehicle or being out at 3am or any number of things could be MUCH different than our assumptions), and the police released him without charges.
  22. Don't worry, the Wild I'm sure have a series of games where they play 7 times in 10 nights or something in March. Gotta have that rest between the second and third games of the season!
  23. Sure, which is why it was wise to wait and see. It could have been a major indictment of him. Or it could be an accident. I think it's telling how many people rushed to think the worst when all they had to do was wait about 10 hours to get the full story. In the meantime he was suggested to have bribed the police, willfully ran over the cop (because how could anyone do this accidentally with a backup camera!), was out at 3 am with his entourage, etc. Sounds like he drove the cop to the hospital, paid all his bills, and tried to do his best to make amends. What a monster!
  24. Yup, looked at McFarland wrong. Tommy Hunter, Brandon Morrow, Juan Nicasio, Pat Neshek, and even our own Addison Reed are closer to that 3/27. I would say Miller and Allen are both superior players in the eyes of GMs. I'm guessing they are both much closer to what Wade Davis or Greg Holland made. If I had to guess, Miller probably gets something in the range of 4/50 and Allen maybe a shade under that.
  25. Maybe, but that's what guys like TJ McFarland and Mike Minor got last year. I'm guessing Miller, Allen are 10+ players.
