  1. All of that can be true and it can still be obnoxious to pay $6 for a hot dog.
  2. I'm not sure comparing terrorism to the violence of white males is analogous. At least not in this particular conversation. Certainly white racism/nationalism is rising and white males in America have committed many horrible crimes, but still not sure the analogy applies. It's also ok to have concerns about Islamic terrorism and the practice of Islam abroad (by men, mostly), but know that the vast majority of practicing Muslims in America are good, moderate, honorable, peace-loving people.
  3. Right, paying them more, feeding them better, giving them more resources to improve physically and mentally....these all have real, tangible benefits to your talent pipeline. It boggles my mind this isn't already being done by smart organizations.
  4. People ask you for clarification and you rant about being clear. Why would I ask when you have demonstrated no interest in honoring that request? If assimilation is not what matters....why bring it up? Yes, factions of Islam are uniquely dangerous. That does not mean all people who practice Islam should be feared or distrusted by you, an average citizen.
  5. By "clarified" are you saying it was a bad argument? Because we are going to do this. This is about the 6th time you've pulled some poorly articulated argument out of your rear end and then got huffy when you got called out for it. Maybe if you don't want people "harping" you should make better arguments.
  6. I choose not to attend big league games in part because of price gouging, but one thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is that sometimes the prices on concessions are just a big middle finger to fans. Yeah, the clubs can get away with it. Doesn't make it any less obnoxious.
  7. Do most of the immigrants here do that? You said, because they don't assimilate, that you drew your conclusions. I'm simply saying that many devout religions don't assimilate. It's poor evidence for your conclusion.
  8. How is this different than any other insular sect? Many Jewish communities, Mormons, etc. All major religions have this trait, it's not unusual about Islam. Or "wrong" per se. Plus, in my anecdotal experience working with Mormons and Somali people, I was FAR more likely to be proselytized by the Mormons and found them far less welcoming of my lifestyle differences from them. Nice people, but isolating as all hell. So your conclusions on this seem way off to me.
  9. Rest assured though....we found the real villain. (Posted more for absurdity...right down to the Venmo link)
  10. Except I'm not sure it would. Israel has offered concessions in the past as part of peace deals. So have the Palestinians. And both sides, at various times, have botched finalizing those or had side-intentions that hindered those moves. Everyone agrees offering to roll back settlements is part of the road map to peace, the problem is getting both sides to offer meaningful concessions towards peace. Expecting the side that is being threatened with genocide to give in as the first step probably isn't the right move. Maybe we should all agree genocide is wrong and the existence of all states is legitimate first. That might make concessions easier for all. I can't imagine any concession moves the needle so long as there are still multiple nations declaring Israel's genocide a goal. (And let's avoid bad analogies...they don't help)
  11. They should. They also should not have been attacked for being put into existence. I dislike when either side simplifies this. It was a stupid decision to put Israel there and the victims of that stupid decision were Israel and the Palestinians. We have to stop framing either side as purely evil or good. And we should remember that if there is a real bad guy in this, it's probably the Arab nations that hate Israel and use the Palestinian lives as political fodder. The two sides we keep trying to pick between are not the real issue. It's the meddling of the West and the ill-intents of the other Arab nations.
  12. Yeah, you sorta lose me completely here. I'll leave it at that.
  13. None of that sounds like Israel's fault either. I think it's important to put yourself in the shoes of both groups. They've both largely been failed by everyone around them and pitted to fight in place of larger conflicts. However, as it stands today, there is still only one side of that conflict that believes in annihilation of the other. To me, that still matters.
  14. I don't know why Israel is the bad guy for most of this post. Europe sucks and sucked big time on this issue, I'm not sure anyone would disagree about that. But this part struck me.....you're aware of how that war started right? It wasn't some aggressive act by Israel bent on land acquisition. Now, as time as gone on the results of that war have caused major complications and for many bad acts by Israel. But I feel like if you were being truly open and honest about this issue you wouldn't have framed these two paragraphs like this. It betrays you a bit I think. For the record....I feel for the Palestinians - they are (mostly) unwilling pawns for larger countries in the region. If anyone truly cared about them on the Arab side we may not be where we are today.
  15. True, but again, Happ was 36 and got two years and 34M. If you are Gibson and his agent, don't you think you can get something closer to 3/48? I think that's a more reasonable target for an extension number.
  16. I guess I'd like to hear you expand on that.
  17. The problem is, would the rest of the world sit it out? I think that's part of the problem, it's absurdly complex. I don't support the shifts in Israel, I think they need to reverse those actions. The sooner the better. That said, to paraphrase another poster here - if you offered disarming the region for peaceful coexistence of all nations, I believe Israel accepts that offer. I also believe they may be the only nation that accepts that offer. Now, they keep going the way they're going and we may have no one who accepts it, but I believe that's still true.
  18. I'm not saying I give him 2/34. I'm just saying his comps on the open market are far above a 4/48 deal.
  19. No, I'm saying we could rain delicious muffins on the middle east and we'd still "shake the hornet's nest" That's simply a non-realistic bar. It's unfortunate, but nevertheless a reality.
  20. I think that "neighbor" needs to be plural. And that's a good point to add.
  21. Well, let me know when you find that alternate reality......
  22. I think the answer to that is yes. Our other NATO allies can rely on each other, Israel has a tenuous relationship with nearly everyone. (And not, frequently, for valid reasons)
  23. I don't see why he would take 4/48. JA Happ got two years and 34M, he is in that range.
  24. Most likely to work as far as helping the system or most likely to get through Congress and become law?
  25. They have used it to better effect. If social media becomes the bastion of the political left and Democrats, I'm not sure that will continue. Again, purity tests for politics are the worst possible thing. I worry that's the drum beat I'm hearing as each candidate declares.
