  1. Or maybe Paradis at center? Barr just isn't productive enough.
  2. Woof, that's too much money for him. Draft a replacement and spend that on something else. I can't see how the team keeps Waynes unless it is restructuring a ton of deals.
  3. Anything more than 8-9 makes me cringe.
  4. Paying Barr all but eliminates signings an OL. Unless there is another move coming.
  5. I'm afraid to think what the terms are for Barr.
  6. Apparently Barr is not gone....he went back on his agreement with the Jets and is coming back.
  7. Jorgenwest already tried to help you on this. And the original posters point was on the same thing. I'm not sure how you got on this tangent, but it's a strawman. No one doubts that if you are given 5 x 2 you'll get 10. Of course that's objective. But it isn't whether 5 x 2 is objective or subjective, it's the question of whether it should be 5 or should be 2 and the decisions made in that regard. What's subjective is deciding it should be 5 or should be 2. What you decide to incorporate and how you weigh it is an act of choosing what is most important. That is, by definition, subjective. Now, you can have strong reasons for doing so. You can test it and find the results in line with what you are trying to measure, but nonetheless there are elements that are subjective. Hell, on WAR alone we have multiple ways to calculate it based on what different places choose to weigh. That doesn't eliminate them from being useful, but it pretty much squashes the "objective" argument.
  8. The conversation is not about whether people can read a formula and put it in a calculator, the question is whether the formula itself is too subjective. I don't think that was unclear from the discussion. Your point seems to be an unnecessary quibble given that.
  9. Yeah, with the draft being the last thing you do....that's rough. And after last year's OL binge I wouldn't plan on anything with that position group. That said, as you pointed out, the defensive line is so loaded this year it may push some OL down. It'll for sure push some safeties and tight-ends down. It's also a good year not to need a corner. (And to have one to trade)
  10. I agree, too much talent in the top 60. If you have two second round picks, you are in a position to take two guys that could start instantly for you. What I could see is trading down from 18, especially if you can pick up an early third or another second. Let's hope the Raiders stay stupid aggressive and we have a chance to get an extra pick. I think we could slide down 5-10 spots in the first and end up with Risner or Ford. (My top two choices) Also Mike, the more I look at my offseason, the more I think Ford and Risner go to guard, O'Neill at RT, and Elflein becomes a super sub.
  11. Also, I debated DL/LB at the Gardner-Johnson pick. I just love what CGJ and Smith could do as a safety combo.
  12. If the draft fell like that I could see parting ways with Reiff. But depth on the o-line isn't a bad thing either. Perhaps someone else moves into a reserve role, I'm not sure. But I wouldn't pass on Risner, he's ideal for a zone blocking scheme.
  13. The problem is that OF cannot be elite. What Buxton can provide, if he becomes what we hope, is elite. And it elevates Rosario and Kepler. I hope people don't take too much from Buxton crushing fastballs the first two weeks of spring. April is our true test, anything before that is just nice to hear, but mostly meaningless.
  14. My offseason plan: Right now we have about 10M in space with the Sendejo cut. I do the following pre-free agency: Cut Remmers. (Total now about 15M) Restructure Rudolph and Griffin (3M savings in each, 21M total) Trade Trae Waynes to .the Buccaneers for pick 39 (Total now 30M) Free Agency: Sign Matt Paradis 4 years 36M (Total room now 21M) Re-Sign Aldrick Robinson 1 year 2M (Total now 19M) Re-Sign Anthony Harris 3 years 9M (Total now 16M) Sign G Andy Levitre 1 year 3M (Total now 13M) Sign OLB Deone Buchanon 2 years 6M (Total now 10M) Draft: #18 - OG/OT Cody Ford #39 - OG/OT Dalton Risner #50 - S - Chauncy Gardner-Johnson #70 - RB David Montgomery (Trade 81 and 178) #114 - TE Josh Oliver #209 - WR Myles Boykin #247 - LB Blake Cashman #250 - DT Olive Sagapulo QB - Cousins/Sloter RB - Cook/Montgomery/Boone/Ham TE - Rudolph/Oliver/Morgan/Conklin WR - Diggs/Thielen/Robinson/Treadwell/Boykin LT - Reiff LG - Elflein C - Paradis RG - Risner RT - Ford OL - O'Neill, Levitre, Isidora DT - Joseph-Johnson-Holmes-Sagapulo DE - Griffen-Hunter-Weatherly-Bower ILB - Kendricks-Brothers OLB-Buchanon-Gedeon-Wilson-Cashman CB - Rhodes-Hughes-Alexander-Hill S - Smith-Harris-GardnerJohnson-Kearse
  15. I hope he keeps the K's in check and uses last season as the motivation to put it all together this year.
  16. Here's a good Strib primer. I really hope we move on from Rudolph, restructure Griffin, and deal Waynes. That might make it possible to retain Richardson and still add an O-lineman.
  17. Correct. I hear the proponents proclaim loudly how they understand that one year samples are not necessarily great use of the metrics, but then think nothing of citing WAR in a one year sample. I look at defensive metrics, I'm not as skeptical as Chief, but the blinders go on REAL fast for a lot of people. It's not purposeful, I think people just like having the quick and dirty stats and frequently forget how dirty they really are.
  18. I eagerly await universal DH. These are alright....not sure about a few of them.
  19. Pfft, I think it shows my psychic powers.
  20. I should say...it's the Wild. By next week they may look so bad I wonder if we should just cut them all.
  21. I don't know, this seems to have been a master stroke. And the best part is Erickson Ek, Kunin, Donato, and Fiala seem to be developing rapidly with the expanded time. I went from pretty "bleh" on this roster to kind of excited to see what they do with the financial wiggle room they have now.
  22. It's just that I despise when the sensitivity dial is too high. What she said about Israeli lobbyists is no different than how we talk about any lobbyist. Hypnotizing? Yeah, dumb. Maybe even anti-Semitic but the context does leave open more benign possibilities. I understand the reaction is genuinely offended. However, our barfor what offends us is far too sensitive for me. Jews have been, and continue to be, the victims of much hatred. But perhaps this is overblown a bit.
  23. I agree. On the flip side, we should be able to criticize Palestine without it being racist. Alas, neither are possible it seems.
  24. We've discussed it before in other threads, but short version - I don't hold the Israelis blameless, they've done things they shouldn't have done. They are too aggressive at times. But the problem is not Israel. Mike or ashbury had a short, sweet way of saying this that escapes me right now.
  25. I'm familiar, what I'm not familiar with is what comments she made that rose to that level.
