  1. It's just like making a trade! But the other kind....the kind where you dump your garbage on someone else.
  2. Sauce and JC Jackson sound great to me! Though I much prefer piling assets into the DL.
  3. Universal DH....I'll take it. Happy baseball is back but most of this is a band-aide
  4. No extension means the draft pick return falls significantly IMO.
  5. When the NBA rights go up for bid again, or get extended, they will see a massive uptick and a streaming heavy component. The NHL will always be on the lower tier but they prioritized eyes on their product and an easy streaming relationship. The NBA will simply get more money and do the same. If MLB is smart...they'll take that path too.
  6. Well....I never said "trade all the people with talent".
  7. We can get to 5 wins now or in 2 years when these guys are 35. Same outcome.
  8. The bundle. $80 a year and I basically have all Wild games. Plus Hulu. Plus Disney. Plus ESPN. That's $40 cheaper than MLB.TV with an unquantifiably higher level of content.
  9. Right, the site listed is estimating and I can't even see what sources they are using. So it's dubious to take that as gospel.
  10. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-braves-made-some-money-in-2021/#:~:text=The Braves enjoyed a banner,2020 season%2C to %24193 million. They made 104M in 2021. This is readily available information via google if you don't have a false agenda to push.
  11. I don't live in Minnesota, nearly all of their games are on that service. I'm paying less for Hulu than I would for MLB.TV and getting a crap ton more than what that service would offer. (Paying a lot less I'll add) So, no....not even remotely "basically the same". Unless MLB.TV is offering thousands of non-MLB programs I'm not aware of. And is bundled with Bluey and Rick and Morty. Please link me if so.
  12. Over keeping an aging 7-9 roster? Yes. Yes I would.
  13. Yeah, I'm ok with that too.
  14. I question this sourcing. Given what the Braves showed in profits (the only readily available information we concretely have)...this seems dubious at best. I think ownership profits are significantly more than this.
  15. Agreed. In my "Fix the Vikings" post I was all about blowing it up. Still am. This move should seal that deal though. Trade Cook, Cousins, and Hunter at minimum.
  16. I've been able to watch nearly every Wild game on Hulu this year. I stay engaged with the product and my kids are starting to share my love of hockey. It isn't hard MLB.
  17. The trades are so hard to judge but the sentiment of "Rodgers stayed so blow it up" is my take too.
  18. I'm a big fan of trading down this year. Maybe sliding back to around 20 and picking up extra selections this year or next year. 12 for 20 and next year's 1st from Pitt would be great. (Maybe they move up to get their QB) Or trading back with Philly at 19 or the Chargers at 17. Another swing in the top 75 would be good for this team. At 20 you'll still have a shot at Ojabo, Johnson, Lloyd, Nakobe Dean, etc. I'm with you though - I would be just fine with the Vikes investing every pick in their front seven this year. There are a ton of freaky athletes that would fit well with the multi-blended front we will run. I grow more and more convinced that we are going to deal Hunter.
  19. MLB already has self-inflicted cancer. Now they are choosing to chug Chernobyl river water. Van and others are right: radical changes have to be made. Instead....pettiness.
  20. I agree they won't give it up willingly, but those contracts may start to dry up from a regional perspective. The NHL has basically gone national already with Hulu and it's only a matter of time before a streaming service ponies up for the TNT/NBA brand as a national broadcast partner for the NBA. I think the days where these sorts of offers are even on the table are numbered. In the meantime, I like this plan too.
  21. I agree with a lot of what mike said! 1) De-regionalize the game and emphasize the national brand. Make more of an emphasis to talk about what's happening throughout the league during every broadcast. (And for the love of god, share revenues and stop regionalizing broadcast deals) 2) Make radio broadcasts free like the NHL does. Put games on youtube, twitter, wherever for free regularly. 3) Embrace the cultures of the game. End the stodgy unwritten rule behavior - fine people and give them serious suspensions every time someone is thrown at for admiring a HR. Other cultures that are playing this game play with a kind of flair this league needs. Embrace it. 4) Find a way to have weekend ticket sales focused on families. Cheap concessions, cheap tickets, etc. Kids can fall in love with the game. 5) Tighten up the game.
