  1. I always run out of stuff in my kitchen and then I run to the grocery to get it. That happens to a lot of people. In addition to that I can't drink beer (quite sad) so I'm certainly not going to stock it just in case someone might come over. Please tell me that they don't sell 3.2% beer anymore. That was dumb.
  2. I almost think that Epstein did this so that so much outrage occurs that it becomes a topic during the next CBA.
  3. The Wolves have managed to lock up the most ping pong balls so that's what it is. Towns looks awesome and I'm not really sold on Okafor. Sure he can score but I'm not exaggerating nor am I just saying what others are saying when I say his defense was terrible. It gets mentioned that he doesn't contest many shots because he wants to avoid fouls (possible). It doesn't get mentioned that he allows bigs to establish whatever position they want down low and push him around. He is still a top 5 pick but I'm not sure if he's the guy you want in today's NBA that is so focused on wings and hitting 3's. I almost think that a guy like Russell or Winslow make more sense in the current NBA. Despite having several veterans with no Wolves future on the roster the team also has a lot of intriguing young players. Future star Wiggins - he's awesome Future 'what could he be' Rubio - can a team truly succeed with a PG that can't shoot/score especially if they don't have a 4 that can hit outside shots? Lavine - a really athletic guy that can score in transition, make things happen and shoot Dieng - He's probably a top 10 C (or could be in a year) but can he be paired with Towns/Okafor on a team with Rubio? Future rotation players Payne Muhammad Bennett - is there any hope? Guys that aren't going anywhere this offseason Pekovic - nobody and I mean nobody is taking this contract without giving something back that is equally ugly. He's not actually a bad player but he can't stay healthy, is a poor defender and Dieng makes him a poor fit other than as a 15 minute backup. Martin - 2 yrs left don't make this impossible to trade but unless the Wolves end up with Russell or Winslow then they are going to need him around next year.
  4. He was in line for a midseason callup to AAA at the beginning of the season and there's no reason that he isn't now nor is there any reason that it should be accelerated. The big thing that I disagree with is that it's in his best development interests to be in the majors now. And while he's a good prospect I disagree that we will be viewing him in the elite/ace level of pitching prospects.
  5. I find it frustrating to read that Pinto needs to be up but that Arcia or Vargas need to be sent down to make it happen.
  6. I think we need to see more than one game (or one month) before we can conclude that Berrios needs a bigger challenge. I would agree with Meyer being not having much to learn in the minors but Berrios has pitched 10 games at AA/AAA. I think other than the most elite pitching prospects it's better for them to get at least a season at that level before coming up.
  7. I think we would all be very happy if Melvin (BJ) Upton is Buxton downside. He averaged 3.5 WAR for 6 seasons before the bottom fell out with the Braves. He was actually really good for awhile. Buxton is pretty great and he has a lot more upside but he's still just a prospect. Talk about having the worst luck with names. His birth name is Melvin and his nickname is BJ. I cannot imagine the teasing that happened at school.
  8. Bourjos is a 28 yr old whose 3 yr OBP barely cracks .300. Don't make him into something he isn't. He's not part of the future and he wasn't going to be cheap. It took a top 100 prospect to get Gose. That is a lot more valuable than our 15th best prospect. And Gose is very overrated. He has barely been able to crack a .300 OBP in the last 2 seasons in AAA. You seem to only be interested in less craptastic options but want to give up decent value to get to a less craptastic level. Unless the Twins were actually acquiring a GOOD player that was part of the team's future they shouldn't be giving up good prospects or giving out multi-yr contracts.
  9. We clearly need to invest prospects and/or significant money in more old players. Awesome idea. Schafer is an unspectacular placeholder (and cheap) for the season. Mastro was a fine plan B until he got hurt. I don't understand your fascination with Robinson being the answer to any question. He isn't. He's had 7 PA's so far.
  10. It's just a tad too far from Taiwan but it would be awesome to see a Lookouts game. I like their uni's and they have some good prospects also.
  11. You underestimate what it would cost to get some of those guys and/or overestimate their effectiveness. Gose for example cost a top 100 prospect that started opening day. Aoki is AWFUL defensively. The previous years I have been more critical of not having a better 2nd option but this year I see a road that is paved for Buxton or Rosario to take the job if they play well in the minors.
  12. The first amendment has absolutely nothing to do with what Blyleven can and cannot say as a representative of Fox Sports. I think Bert is awesome and I think this is funny but Fox Sports has another affiliate in Detroit and their employees can only go so far when making negative comments about other cities and organizations.
  13. Why give up something for a mediocre short term option when two of your better hitting prospects are in AA and AAA? Aside from Rasmus who the Twins might have simply said no to regardless of need/cost there weren't good, cheap options. Did you want to outbid and get Aoki for 2 years? That's the kind of option that was available in free agency and trade market this winter.
  14. I might be concerned at the end of May but right now I could care less. He was promoted aggressively and is probably a little rusty still. My only concern is that he gets injured again.
  15. There is more to pitcher development and advancement than surviving in the majors. For example in the minors you can say I want you throw 30% change ups for the next month to improve the pitch but that's not possible in the majors. In the majors you don't have that luxury and have to use your best stuff just to survive.
  16. The problem with this is that they weren't going to get a good player for nothing. They were either going to need to give up an asset in a trade or most likely guarantee multiple years and a lot of dollars. They should have been able to find someone better than Schabinson but that player still wouldn't have been cheap.
  17. I don't think the Twins completely blew the CF situation. They have done exactly what some complain that the Twins are doing at other position. They have completely paved the road for Buxton to be called up midseason by not having a solid but not good option to theoretically block him. The ABSOLUTE LAST THING the Twins should have done is spend actual money on a decent CF that the team would not bench.
  18. At some point he became movie version Bob Uecker. Unfortunately at some point the Twins became the Major League Indians.
  19. That's a pointless rant. Berrios turns 21 next month and has barely pitched in AA. He's exactly where he should be. The Twins are actually showing that they are much more aggressive with prospects than anyone gives them credit for with how fast they have promoted the top prospects in the last couple of years.
  20. If Rosario is a potential may/June callup as a CF'er then he needs to get some reps in CF. LF and CF are not the same.
  21. I always liked him but .250 MiLB hitters don't usually make it as MLBers. I hope he makes it for awhile longer though. Nothing like seeing a career MiLB'er living his dream.
  22. I don't have a problem with Schafer and Robinson being a placeholder for the Twins. They might not have upside but the important thing right now is that Rosario is at the correct place to develop as a prospect. Getting MLB AB's is not always the right development especially if the Twins don't feel that he is ready offensively. I'm hoping that they split CF in Rochester. If they don't then I hope they don't call up Rosario in 2 months and just throw him out there and claim that they didn't see this situation coming.
  23. Yeah, if Dick Cheney had done this the right would have blown it off. Both sides are a bunch of hypocrites.
  24. The Revere trade looked sad once Worley had completely bombed. May was and is an alright prospect with some potential to turn that trade around. The Span trade doesn't look sad at all. Meyer has a big time arm and he will be up this year. I'm just concerned about an injury.
  25. actually they did. With all of the listed players (possibly not Radke) they signed contracts buying out arb years and one year of FA.
