  1. Here's a funny story. I used to tape a lot of games on this thing called a VCR and I watched a bunch of them about ten years ago before my VCR died a tragic death. One of the games was from June or July of 2001 against Detroit and Dick says, "The Tigers will likely try to move Todd Jones at the trade deadline but looking at his numbers I'm not sure they'll find any takers."
  2. Why do we want to be like Tampa Bay? What have they ever won? The goal is not to spend the least amount of dollars per win; the goal is to spend as much as is necessary for the most wins and the FINAL win.
  3. We may be able to hold an occasional lead in the postseason now, but will we ever get one with this starting rotation?
  4. Amir Garrett didn't take the news well. https://twitter.com/FlyByKnite
  5. Bauer to reds makes sense since he pulled a Dibble.
  6. Cant wait for puig to face this staff.
  7. I predict romo will blow this.
  8. For all the people (not saying your Danny SD) that love FIP as the end all be all stat for pitchers, why the Minor love? I would be very wary of a guy with limited history of success. Then again, I've always been a "Go big or go home" kind of guy.
  9. The good thing is the Yankees are very rarely talking about adding Sergio Romo, Kevin Jepsen, or Matt Capps.
  10. The villain part really applies to anything. John Rocker is far more interesting than Mariano Rivera. Albert Belle is more interesting than Jim Thome. A.J. Pierzynski is more interesting than Joe Mauer. the 1986 Mets are more interesting than the 1987 Twins.
  11. Not sure what type of novel you are writing but the villain HAS to be the most interesting character in the book. In my opinions, heroes should be ordinary people that do extraordinary things and have some sort of inner demon they overcome. Personally, I'm not interested in some superhero coming in and dominating everyone. Unless he turns heel! Then he's awesome!
  12. Trevor Bauer antics??!! Hopefully he flew a drone into Lindor and put him on the DL.
  13. I actually like Hawkins more than the other two, as well as Morneau. They certainly make you appreciate Bert a little more, even despite mailing it in.
  14. I wonder how many runs score if Angel Hernandez doesn't completely alter the game.
  15. LOL at Dick rambling on about a potential complete game shutout and Gibby doesn't get another out if not for Angel Hernandez doing Angel Hernandez things.
  16. He used to wear a shirt with the Giants that said, "I'm legal."
  17. 14 pitches may be the least I have ever seen out of a starting pitcher (non-injury, non-opener).
  18. Today could be the day Cleveland pulls even in the Division race, despite a host of injuries to their frontline starters. Maybe Falvine will pull a Jaime Garcia and deal Romo for some slop after an outing.
  19. I have been predicting Romo for two months now so that would make me cynically ecstatic.
  20. They followed those comments up by signing everyone to a one year contract.
  21. To quote the best manager of our lifetime, Lou Brown: "I'm tired of this nickel and dime ****. I'm getting that bitch on the phone." Get a legitimate ace. PLEASE. FOR ONCE IN MY LIFETIME.
