    I'd start Duffy in game 3. He's our best pitcher right now.

    You are probably remembering the fall of 2014 and Mr. Danny Santana. In my opinion, Arraez is no Danny Santana. But in Sept of '14 I thought Danny was the 2nd coming of Carew too. He came out of nowhere and lit it up for a couple of months.

    Will be interesting to see how this team handles Sept next year when we can only expand to 28 players. We'd be fresh out of team if this were the rule this year. I think the FO would have made different choices this year if that were the rule. Maybe it will be a positive. With very limited call ups you're more likely to see a Kiriloff or Rooker added I think.

    Annoying game indeed. Rocco didn't manage the staff last night to win. Leaving Gibson in too long - putting Stewart out for the 6th. I agree he prioritized saving our high leverage guys for Cleveland but we don't have one game to waste in my opinion. Limping to the finish line here. I agree w/Tom - with our line up right now, it is no sure thing we beat up on Chicago Detroit and KC.

    What should we do then? Does he still have peak value this winter to another club? Based on your analysis - and I tend to agree, shouldn't we trade him? It would be a shame if this analysis comes true, and we never get the value we've been hoping for, either on the field for us, or in trade for top notch pitching.

    Guessing we have more courage to trade potential stars for pitching, than the courage to sign someone to a monster contract? I wouldn't be surprised if we make a big trade this winter. I would be shocked if we sign one of these high dollar players. Cole no way - he'll get $30M + per season. We need to move an outfielder of significant value, and a shortstop of significant value to receive back some starting pitching of significant value. We look loaded in the corner outfield and the middle infield heading into the offseason this year.

    I wonder if the front office knew this before Aug 31st? Then I wonder if they knew, why we didn't pull the trigger on a starter? Buxton for Syndergaard would have looked real good in the rear view mirror today. Jaylin Davis would also look good in RF doggonnit. I will give the FO a pass on that one. The Dyson deal looked good at the time, and we had our outfielders. Now we don't have Dyson and we don't have outfielders. This team is limping it right now and I hope we can regroup and hang on. Anyone can get hot in the playoffs.

    Very frustrating. Positives are the way I want to wake up this morning. For the playoffs -We have a solid #1 starter. Wade won't be in right field. Rookies won't be put in high-leverage situations. Buxton & Gonzalez will be in the lineup. Back end of our bullpen will be rested and available. Will open up on the road. I sure hope Rocco plays tonight and tomorrow like playoff games. The only chance the Indians have is to sweep us now. We may have given them last night with some of our decisions. Pressure is on us tonight I think.

    I think the final 4 or 5 spots to be decided will go to whoever is hot this month. Small sample size last night, but no way Willians is left off if he remains clutch. No way is Graterol left off if he keeps throwing zero's - no way Dyson or Gibson get on unless they prove they are healthy. If Gonzalez is healthy Cave doesn't make it - Adrianza is a lock either way he plays this month I think. Will also depend on the 1st opponent, and their staff, and their strength's. Also 1st series is only a best 3/5 - may see a different roster for this one vs the championship 7 game series. If Big Mike keeps this up he gets game 1 - if Perez keeps this up he gets game 2 - if Berrios keeps this up he gets the bench. Sorry to say that but he is our #4 right now.

    I love Eddie. He does bring the swagger and attitude every championship team needs. My hope is to see him reign it in and become more polished and disciplined in those moments of consequence on the field and at the plate. Not sure if he is easily bored out in left field at times, or if he has a hero mindset at the plate late in games? For whatever reason he is certainly not maximizing his ability as he could. Such great hands and quick wrists could be better harnessed and better deployed I think. Now do other GM's see this, and are willing to pay a kings ransom for him this winter? Probably not. If not, we need to keep him. Tons of raw talent here, and still alot of refining and developing work to bring out the best in him. He is no where close to his peak ability in my opinion.

    We sure could use a all-star caliber start tonight! Great bullpen win last night dials us in for a couple power starts to finish off the bosox season. I do not want to see Romo have to close them out tonight.

    I like our system infield depth better than our outfield depth. Keep Eddie and expect a run to the WS before he hits FA and take our chances on resigning him. Polanco and the team friendly contract and the AS year brings back a much better starter than Eddie this winter. I think we may have already missed the peak trade value window for Byron. This winter should be Polanco's peak trade value window. I guess it depends on if you see Lewis as our future shortstop or centerfielder?

    I wonder if we would go with 10 pitchers in the 1st series? Its only a best 3 of 5. We need a deep bench for the playoffs. Maximum flexibility. Pinch running ability. I wish we had 3 starters we could count on for a good 7 innings. My 6 man bench is; Schoop, Adrianza, Cave, Castro, Gonzalez, Gordon or whoever is the fastest runner on the 40 man. Love Willians but he runs like a turtle.

    I'd look for Harper to be removed opening up a 2nd 40 man spot. Then we'll see who they deem as a potential relief arm for a playoff run. Interesting to see if O'Rourke gets one as a loogy specialist. I think you'll also see Graterol or Alcala or both. Could also see Stewart removed. I think we're convinced he can't help us and might as well remove him now - we'll remove him in December no doubt.

    Bullpen woes may be in the rear view mirror. Aggressive call ups to AAA, Graterol, Alcala, Colina - Hildy & O'rourke getting ready - we seem to have a solid 5 right now in Rogers, Romo, Dyson, Duffy and May. Stashak and Littell look good. I like our chances right now to finish off games. Starters....Yikes. We've got to solve this one.

    You are being generous - I'd replace the word "Ideally" with "obviously". Major mistake so obvious I called it to my wife 5 seconds before it happened, and I was half asleep. Great win for us, whew!

    Completely agree THIS was the year. FO wasn't ready for THIS to be the year. So they behaved like THIS wasn't the year at the deadline. I used the window opening phrase because this is how it is commonly referred when your "wave" arrives, matures, just prior to another wave being ready. We are there. No doubt our 1st "wave" of Kepler/Buxton/Polanco/Garver/Berrios/Rosario/Rogers/Sano all are better and getting better - next "wave" Arraez/Kiriloff/Graterol/Lewis/Rooker/Balazovic will be here between now & 2021 - this is how it is done. 75% of the line up are star system prospects, augmented by expensive vet additions. And you better win it all before you need to sign your youngsters to real contracts. I'd say our deadline to win it all is 2021. Won't be able to afford this line up in 2022. I hope we don't look back at 2019 as being our best chance. We are going to have to slugfest this thing to get anywhere in the playoffs.

    Perspective is what is needed. I am more optimistic this morning, than last night. I would have totally agreed with darius last night on each and every point. This morning I am optimistic we get a day off - we hit the road - we re-group, and we forge ahead and make a run of it. I am saddened to start understanding this is not our year. But it probably never was, and is just our 1st year of an excellent window of opportunity coming. We don't have the pitching, and our in-game management, and our in-game execution isn't there in the crucial moments. We were out managed, and out executed yesterday. Not too mention out pitched. I am still having way more fun than 2011-2014, and if this season's results were reversed - our collective fans attitude would be just the opposite. Today we sit tied with our nemesis - we have alot to play for in Aug/Sept in 2019. I'll take it. I am not ready for football yet.

    We get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for those 3 today. Unfortunately in Dec '17 we weren't what we are today - we never heard of Arraez - Jay was a top pick we still had hope for, and Granite was an exciting up and coming contact/speedster guy. Prospects are just that, prospects. Go get a stud starter is an easy decision for an Astros team coming off a title, with alot of young controlled starters, and still plenty of prospects. When we win it all this year, I expect we'll feel more comfortable trading away some good prospects this winter for stud starters too.

    Falvintony is pulling every rabbit out of every hat right now trying to find someone, anyone who can help. I find this refreshing. Old regime would never exhaust every arm between Mpls & Rochester like Falvintony. No reason to think he won't bring up Graterol. We have to add him to the 40 man this winter. Dobnak is a prime example of the new Falvintony way. I love it. A ball to the Twins in under a year. See what happens. Why not? Maybe just maybe we hit big on one of these kids. Smeltzer is exhibit A. Looking for an exhibit B. Falvintony's looking hard. Who's next.

    Agree with the boring move of the 13th pitcher for now. Best stretch of offense was back in the late spring when Cruz was out. We have multiple options at DH. Won't happen now, but I look for Graterol soon if he keeps throwing like this. Good on Falvey for trying anyone and everyone. Balazovic can come up right behind him as far as I'm concerned. We have starting pitching problems and we need to solve that one quick.

    Durability is either a gift or a skill. Of all the gifts and skills he has, durability isn't one of them and may never be. He plays no harder than Kirby. Kirby had the gift/skill of durability. Let him be what he is, or he won't be who he is. Hopefully as time passes he will find his own way of mitigating his ailments as he continues to play the way he plays. I don't know how you change him, without changing him?
