  1. How do you know that person voted for 10 other players? And there are NOT 10 players worth voting for on every ballot unless you want to change it to the name of Hall of Above Average or Hall of Very Good. And don't put words in my mouth. I said it was a jerk move.
  2. So by that logic, when Jeter and this year Suzuki were shoo-ins the BBWA should attach a statement saying something like this. We know Ichiro is going in the HOF this year so don't submit any votes for him. Give those votes to someone who needs help. And you're right. They don't get bonus points. But during their introduction it would be quite an honor to be the 2nd or 3rd player voted unanimously for. There is no good reason to leave someone like that off their ballot. Other than that person isn't qualified to have a vote. It's a jerk move. And they did it for the reason you objected too in your first post. "This is getting too much press."
  3. That's not a valid reason at all. There's always that ONE guy in every group. Hey! I know Suzuki is going to get in so he doesn't need my vote. So I'll give that 10th spot to Ben Zobrist. That's crazy talk. Because there have been ballots returned with no one listed at all. The HOF voting has went down hill since guys like Brian Kenny spout nonsense about guys 6 best years etc. And it ALWAYS goes back to Koufax. Koufax walked away at 30 off a great 6 year run.
  4. Because the wheel is broke. Always defending the amount that generally sits in the middle of the pack. You're right when you say no one would complain if they were consistently in the top 10 in spending. That would show the DESIRE to win is more important than the profitability. And don't come back and say, well the revenue won't support that. Indeed. The current revenue wouldn't support that. Then again, wouldn't a consistently good product increase revenue. I think this 5 series article didn't need to show all the darker stuff. The main point could have been profit above all else. No matter who got in the way.
  5. The follow up part of your cherry picking aspect of the whole quote was that it didn't seem to matter when the Twins won in 87 and 91. He was still the same rotten guy then but it didn't matter or at least it made people look the other way. You're funny.
  6. I have read Marx and the utopia that was promised with that doctrine. It's worked wonders for the former USSR and China. They're only responsible by conservative estimates of a couple hundred million lives. "What does the long time owner of the Twins have to do with the Twins?" Yeah! What does he have to do with the current Twins since he's um, deceased? But while he was in control, didn't they win 2 WS. All those things written in these articles didn't matter then, did they? It's their money, they will do whatever they want with it irregardless of how you or I think or wish they would spend it.
  7. As I said in chapter 1 of this series. The majority of fortunes have been gained at the misfortune of others. So thumbs down away. 😄 Karl Marx would agree with you. Maybe Carl Pohlad was a scoundrel or worse. What's that got to do with the Twins? Are his kids and grand children guilty? Write a feel good story about any squeaky clean person. I'll bet you'll still find some dirt somewhere. Hey. Better yet. Let's make them feel so guilty that they just blow all their money on making the Twins the 1st rate ball club Twins fans deserve. 😄 i believe the Ishbia family has been sued numerous times. Does that disqualify them too?
  8. Right after Carl abandoned a litter of puppies, he called Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed and McDonnell Douglas, to shrink seat size so he could stuff more of the proletariat onto each jet.
  9. Henry Ford, Carnegie, Rockefeller, Morgan, Kennedys and the list goes on and on. They all have skeletons. As do all people. I'm not a Pohlad fan. In the same token if the family didn't own the Twins, you'd have never heard of that family. The Twins could have a Jerry Jones or Daniel Snyder type owner. Being a guy who delivers foreclosures didn't gain him his fortune.
  10. Curious as to who you think are the high floor prospects at SS and C? That's where I see the biggest question marks going forward.
  11. The new owners want to expedite the sale so they can go after Alonzo and or Bregman. MAYBE! 😄
  12. Yeah. My take was more like. Why not Falvey? Make a few key moves that helped the Twins while padding his resume. But if he is indeed going to be a lame duck I see your point.
  13. It's just a question. But if the new owners were to decide to move on from Falvey, why wouldn't you want him at the helm still at the trade deadline? Curious by that statement. The sale might be moving along quickly. But the hiring process of replacing any of Zoll, Falvey, and or Baldelli would need to happen before spring training wouldn't it?
  14. Looking at the graph and the eye test I recall, more balls falling in front of Buxton than normal. Which can be attributed to his starting depth. 316 vs 325. He's playing deeper for the longer potential extra base hits. Or is there more to it than that? I vaguely remember him beating out an infield grounder at the end of the season where he was still running over 30' per second. So the elite speed is still there.
  15. Is Bridgemans good ice cream? I'm kind of a snob when it comes to ice cream. San Diego has Neiderfranks. Detroit has Ashbys. Seattle has Tillamook via Oregon. Hey. Instead of brain freeze maybe I should take on the best of each city. Road trips planned for 2025 besides Minnesota will hopefully be Atlanta Cinci Cleveland and Sox or Cubs. Sorry to get off topic. Ice cream = kryptonite
  16. Really! "Last year when the Twins misplaced Jeffers as the primary catcher" When did that happen? I'm not a big Jeffers fan. But if they trade him. Who's backing up Vasquez? Who's the catcher in 26. You have Vasquez catching 100 plus games and giving the rest to who? Sound tactic there for sure. Cartaya and Vasquez. That will definitely make the Twins Cental champs. Dodgers can afford to move off a guy who is 4th or 5 on their depth chart and he's going to be a prominent piece for Minnesota.
  17. I've seen WAR valued at 10 million per. It's just like name recognition. If theyre a star it's valued at a higher number. Hell, Rooker had a 5 WAR last year. Primarily a DH yes, but he just signed for 60 million over 5 years. So even if he avgs a WAR of 4 per year that doesn't add up to 3.75 per WAR. Those numbers are ALL over the place. So how is it's value measured? What was Buxtons breakdown last year? 94/5 CF vs DH. Because some of his WAR is attributed to the defensive side. Not that it matters. My point is. What was his 3.7 WAR valued at? If it's 4 million per WAR then he earned his 15 million based off that number. If its 7 million, then he was underpaid. So please explain.
  18. I think Martin's likely ceiling is a 3 WAR utility guy. My neighbor thinks it's 2 WAR. My cousin THINKS he could win a MVP.
  19. Robust market of potential buyers. WHO? In place by opening day. Don't the majority of owners need to approve? And isn't it by 80% or is it just by more than 50%. It is good news if its true.
  20. "Why keep the farm bloated with 3rd tier players, when we can use them in a trade?" What are you going to get for those 3rd tier players? Even if they are part of a deal, they will just bring back another. Noah Miller is not coming back. Sorry. Keirsey. Is he 1st Tier? And if so, why? Do you really believe Keirsey on the roster over Margot would have put the Twins over the top? Let's take one of your trade scenarios. Acquiring Puk or Scott. Was that going to help a team that had 4 hitters contributing the last 6 weeks of the season? We'll never know. But your scenarios guarantee success and that's just wishful thinking at best.
  21. He couldn't post the examples because they're selling faster than Twins ticket packages.
