  1. Please, for help and clarification for the future, can you tell me, from a moderator's viewpoint..... which of these comments are considered snarky (if any are considered snarky at all), and perhaps the snarkiest of the two. I think it would help us all to know. Thank you very much.
  2. That was too early to play a baseball game for Meyer and Rochester. Oh...... the Lookouts' box score link goes the the Rochester box, too.
  3. TR never blessed the team with the one two punch of aces with a better than innings eater third for the playoff run. It almost magically happened in 2006 with Liriano being the wildcard unexpected second ace, but when he went down.... no move. In 2010 there were no aces, either. He made the move for Capps and gave up Ramos. Everbody knew Mauer's time behind the plate was nearing an end, and Capps was another mediocre to bad pitcher. Terry loves to resign those guys. (Pavano, Capps, Pelfrey, E. Santana....)
  4. Totally agree on the Revere trade. It was two for one, too. And that noodle arm with no walks was a liability no matter how big that smile was. Worley is a mystery. The Phils seemed to know, and the Pirates may still be able to save him, but Anderson and company were lost. Span trade, with that great contract the Twins had? Horrible trade. Time has proven it. Some say the evidence isn't in yet, but last year with no help for the MLB team is one year of failure as far as I am concerned. And this year is counting. I will give you the first year for trading for a double A prospect. Span contributed both of those years. Now the Twins are just making him less and less valuable to even trade. I can't separate the Span trade with the Hicks to centerfield plan. The Span/Revere/Hicks plan is all the same plan. It cannot be separated.
  5. Amen. Can I get a witness? An ace, I can get behind. Two mediocre average pitchers... no way. If they had that little faith in Meyer, they should have flipped him for a centerfielder....... I hear he can bring a pretty good centerfielder in a one for one trade..... plus, he is closer to the majors now, right? This is another example of never being in a rebuild. The Marlins know how to rebuild. The Twins' front office is living in the past, in my opinion.
  6. I contend (since 2010) they have never been in the rebuilding process. That is the problem.
  7. Mauer discussed that seventh inning. “You get in that situation. It’s his runs and a shutout, you don’t want to turn it over to the bullpen. You want to give him a chance. I think he earned the right to give him a chance to keep the shutout. We got Theo up. I think he saw that, and he said, ‘You’re not taking me out.’ So that was pretty good.” I sure wish that managerial thought process was something I would see at the Major League level. Very Refreshing.
  8. I must have been looking a way different paper.
  9. No. Absolutely not. That ship has sailed years ago. This team is the result of the continuing presence of Terry Ryan. I hope that next year there is a new out of organization GM and Doug Mientkiewicz is managing the young wave. Molitor is not the manager of the future. I am close to Molitor and Ryan's ages. I can see this. Why can't they?
  10. Ssssssshhhhhhh. Don't tell anybody Escobar has been exposed, too! The Escobar camp just can't take that.
  11. Is there a terrorist scare or something? What exactly is the thorough searching all about? Any ideas? How did the crowd take the searching?
  12. Please. That is just too funny. It looks like they are very wrong about the Royals. Maybe they could be wrong about the Twins? I know... doubtful. Driving around the LA area today and stopping in on 3 different sports talk radio channels, the Twins got air time on all 3. While most of the talk is about the LA Clippers and Angels and Dodgers, the Twins have become the laughing stock of the airwaves. All three couldn't believe how bad they were, and that they could still be this horrible after 4 years...... especially the pitching. It appears that only the Twins' management and players are not seeing what the rest of the country of baseball fans are seeing.
  13. I hope this is just the start of the prospect train. May did very well. This team is just horrible so far. I was kind of surprised Molitor didn't pitch Boyer again. Just kidding (on the square). I heard that the operations at Target were also a fiasco. Slow entry, endless lines, running out of sweatshirts, and shuttles taking wrong turns and taking riders into rush hour traffic for over an hour. Any other reports? I can't believe how bad this team has performed. Maybe everyone that is not a Twins' fan or blogger is right about their predictions. It sure does look like it, now.
  14. Ouch. Not the start I, and the rest of Twins Territory, was hoping for out of Burdi.
  15. It is looking like Boyer is just a good story, albeit one that isn't going to last too long. He looks absolutely horrible. I really don't understand why Molitor has trusted him with close games, especially on back to back days. Looks like he fooled a lot of people in spring training... but not the Padres.
  16. I am more concerned about what the Twins hitters look like at the plate. Buxton just needs games.
  17. Did the run get changed to an earned run? Surely that was a single and an error to allow the run. I see the box now says double and earned run. Such charity if that is the case. Either way, that is 24.1 innings without a run to open the season. Without that error, we could have broken the MLB record of 26 innings and be at 27 innings and counting.
  18. Breaking News........... Trevor Bauer pitches 6 no hit innings with 11 strikeouts for Cleveland today....... but he walked 5 and threw 111 pitches. After a concerned call from Terry Ryan to Chris Antonetti, it has been decided Trevor will be optioned to the AAA Columbus Clippers to work on his control. .......................
  19. I am truly sorry. I was trying to be sincere, and not sarcastic at all. I am sorry I have misinterpreted that you were making predictions that Meyer is not ready, and supporting it with your arguments. I am not responsible for the definition of conjecture (which, upon checking and quoting, I understand to be: "an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information"), and I have been told by other mods to not state something as fact that is opinion. That is what I have tried to do here. Surely my opinion is also conjecture, and I have never asserted it is not, and have made sure to say that it is my opinion. I am not interested in showing you "concrete data" and arguing. I believe, and it is my opinion, that Meyer should be given an opportunity regardless of any study. I have stated my case and will go back to making sure I avoid engaging a moderator, for I do not hope to make you angry and suffer consequences I might disagree with. I support your having and expressing your opinion.
  20. OK. You are absolutely correct in your assertions of how the future for this one individual will be. While opinions based on incomplete information are conjecture by definition, we will allow yours to not be. The incomplete information here that this opinion is formulated with Meyer never actually pitching in the MLB. I think a recent example of a player surprisingly performing better in the MLB than in the minors is Danny Santana. It does happen sometimes, regardless of what the studies predict.
  21. If the management supports him, is in his ear that he is going to be just fine, we believe in you, and we are going to stick with you for the rest of the year...... I think the performance blips could be overcome. I think confidence can come from support and belief.
  22. Again, this is opinion and total conjecture. We can talk about it all we want. Nobody will know what will happen until he is given the opportunity. You could be right. You also could be very very wrong.
  23. I am just expressing my opinion. I am not assigning fault. Nolasco didn't last 5 innings (3). Hughes gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, and Meyer gave up 3 runs in 5 innings. (And to be fair, Meyer's start was also 1 run in 5 innings. He started the sixth with two walks, more tired, and getting stretched out because he didn't get that in spring training with his grandfather's untimely death. Logan Darnell gave up the inherited runs. If there was good relief, or he didn't come out for the 6th, it would be little different song to sing about him. 4 walks in 5 innings and only one run given up. He also hit 101 on the gun today.) I would take that start over Nalasco's yesterday, regardless of the walks. Meyer is unique. He is not any other player I could list. I am not interested in lists. I am interested in getting on with it and seeing what Meyer can do in the show, for better or worse. I don't see how it can be worse for this team to see, and give him the opportunity, and stick with him for a while.
  24. Hicks should only be an example for himself. Nobody else is Hicks. You could just as well use examples that didn't have problems as someone that did. None of these other guys are Hicks, and will have a unique career all of their own. It is time to get on with it.
  25. This is unfortunate for Nolasco, but good news for the Twins. If this is what it takes to really start getting May and Meyer in the rotation, so be it. (Berrios, too for that matter.) Forces are working to get Ryan to do what he should have done. Ready? Not ready you say? You don't know that ever until you give them the opportunity. Never, ever. Talk talk talk. They can't be any less ready than what Nolasco and Pelfrey and Correia (and Pino and Logan and Walters and Hendrick et al) have shown us in the recent past. Middlebrooks thought Meyer was plenty ready last year when he faced him in rehab. I don't see how it could be worse than it is right now. Worried about that mediocre (and that is being kind) bullpen getting overworked to soon? No worries. Just continue to replace them, too, as the season progresses with more from the farm. It will work out to the best.
