  1. Maybe if they would have hired Ricky Carmichael to design a motocross course for him to ride on near target field......... gotta get creative.
  2. Quite an update. Impressive. And funny!
  3. Diaz still making the decisions at third. Yikes.
  4. My jokes don't always hit everyone's spot. Case in point.
  5. I really can never get on board with the "trees". Each trade stands on it's own. The origin of each butterfly effect is hard to nail down. I know people like to do it, but trading Ynoa was done to help us then.... not in the future. It did not. Ynoa does not become a trade for Littell. Each trade stands on its own.
  6. Kimbrel just had a case of Lance Lynn disease. He should be just fine this year.
  7. Now that's creative. It's like Sergio is getting younger every year. No changes yet, except elimination of Gibson and Perez. OK. So nothing has really changed, and definitely no additions. How did I get here.... same as it ever was.......
  8. I would take a one and done championship, myself. Just one. I'm not greedy. And 2 years in a row? Absolutely. Hell, they are prone to blowing it even when they are trying. But to go for a sustained winning run, when you haven't won a single playoff game - to the tune of 16 games in a row over a 16 year span including the last three with this core and pitching (the same pitching that we basically still have with no improvments from last year) - planning on an extended run, especially in these fickle free agent times, is just foolish in my opinion. Bank on one, and then go from there.
  9. And Roger Clemens wasn't Roger Clemens anymore, and Justin Verlander wasn't Justin Verlander anymore, and Randy Johnson wasn't Randy Johnson anymore. Yup. It happens. No matter what Bumgarner is now, it won't be for the Twins in a playoff game. I wonder if that window is still open? Did they let all the pitchers out? Just not open wide enough for them to fit through?

    Rule V mania

I didn't expect any to be drafted. I think it shows that the value of those on the farm in the netherworlds of the rule 5 bubble, particularly Wander Javier, are highly overrated by many close to the team, but not fooled by other teams watching.
  11. ..... you're not.....
  12. "It seems like we all have an affinity for baseball players who are more rotund than the trim...." I must not be a "we". I never get it, myself. I sure hope we can do better than Astudillo in 2020.
  13. There's so much dust already one needs a shovel.
  14. Sure, everyone plays MLB to win. But.......... losing in 7 games in the WS is not playing for second place, and is pretty damn awesome.
  15. Well, Ryu only costs money. Bumgarner will cost a draft pick, too. Still very worth it.....
  16. May as well have 3 3rd starters, and pitch them 3, 4 and 5. Better than a 5th starter being the 5th starter.
  17. Diamond was "better than you think". Hildenberger was "better than you think". Harper? Dobnak had a welcome 28.1 innings in the regular season. A surprise and a story. His 2 innings in game 3 of the ALDS is exactly what I think. If someone gets hurt and he can fill in and still fool people who haven't seen him before or much, great. He could be very valuable for a spell.
  18. I totally disagree. Very often a strong initial offer early in the hot stove season lands a player (Gibson is an example this year). The market is a total question at that point, and with the history of the last couple of years, the position becomes that's what I want, the risk of waiting is over. Many beneath the top tier last year declined good multi year offers (albeit no over pays - Grandal) and ended up with one year contracts (Moustakas) or no contract (Keuchel/Kimbrel). I respect your opinion, but to say the pervious poster's opinion is ludicrous is......... well......
  19. Exactly. If Odo and Berrios and Pineda are your best, even if you get to the playoffs, you may as well not buy tickets for the ALCS, much less the World Series. Tic toc. Just think what might happen if the Yankees aren't on the IL all year in 2020.
  20. Good thing you don't have to waste $16K/intentional walk then...... and then $40K!
  21. Bumgarner. Because, MadBum. That's just too cool to pass on.
  22. Following Ryu out here in LA - last year was the only year you could really follow him. If you want to sign a pitcher that doesn't pitch much, Ryu is the guy. Or Rich Hill. They both are good when pitching (usually), but I certainly would not bet on 33 year old Ryu to supply back to back seasons of 180 innings, which is the most he has ever done since his rookie year in 2013 (192). He has been really really good the last two years when he stayed in the game, though (82.1 and 182.2 innings - with a severe 4 start fade in August 2019).
  23. Ryu had his career year last year. The first time he made it through a year and stayed in off the IL/DL most of the time. I think it was an outlier, and would not bet on him. I hope they $ign Cole Bumgarner before it is too late. tic toc. (Cole, too, for that matter....)
  24. I just don't get the optimism concerning Pineda. Do you just throw his career numbers out and look at a couple of months in 2019 and think that is him and not that he is closer to his career? Or even that he will be worse as he ages? a couple of good months doesn't mean that is what to expect, I don't think. Perez had a couple of good months.......
