  1. The more the starters and bats can keep Rodney out of the game, the better.
  2. The way the game is supposed to be played is to always try your best and take advantage of the opponent's weakness! No need to be a baby about it! Should they not try to comeback, and hit a home run either?
  3. Awesome pitching! With pitching like this, I might forget about losing Luke and JT, who both had great debuts for the Angels and Dodgers. Funny how two contending teams can use them, but not the Twins. It's a long season, with a great start.
  4. While I agree that Castro should have caught/blocked the "wild pitch" that let the strikeout become a base runner, throwing meat to the nine hole batter that became the triple, extra batter or not, was all Duke!
  5. "Fernando Rodney got off to a terrible start in 2017, with a 12.60 ERA through the month of April. However, after April, Rodney was lights out with a 2.38 ERA and a .442 OPS against. This was a driving factor in the Twins giving the 41-year-old an opportunity to be their closer for 2018." Seems the same might be happening for 2018 to start the season. Keeping him in extended spring training, to use up the crud for a month, seems it would be a unique and smart move.
  6. How about that offense! How about that MOY! Opposing teams are gonna love seeing Rodney. I just hope it doesn't last that long... but I have been saying that since the signing.
  7. Ryan LaMarre did earn it, but my bet..... it will be short lived. I hope we get a good couple weeks in the few at bats off the bench.
  8. I know how you feel. I had to suffer through a Colon start in LA last year. I am betting that Gibson will be a pitcher we like to see this year.
  9. Be it that the accuser stated that she only wanted to talk about it for her own mental health, and not create problems for Sano, it seems she should be happy with the outcome, and she has accomplished her goal. I hope Sano has learned, too. As a reader, I had certainly felt that the TD staffers had already judged him and convicted him. Hopefully, we all learn from this, respect the process, and move on and play some baseball.
  10. Since 2010, that is a pretty lame list of opening day starters. Hopefully, Berrios will settle in after the novelty Puerto Rico thing. With nerves in the homeland, I think it is the wrong decision, and would rather he had started the opener this year. Odorizzi... not too excited about. Personally, I hate having games at neutral stadiums, no matter where they are. Do these two games count as one missed home game apiece? If so, which one is the home game for the Twins? Or is one team sacrificing 2 home games?
  11. Busenitz was hardly the mop-up guy at the end of the year. Like Hildenberger, he was trusted more and more. I am betting Rodney will be gone by the end of May. I fear, with the hankering to hold on to Hughes and Rodney, that April and May will be less than hoped for. Those that get the shaft to start the season should be ready and warmed up when the washed up vet experiment is over.
  12. I think it is fine. Especially since, it is something that all players know up front what the penalty includes for several years now (wasn't Santana's year the first year of the change?) The rule is in place in advance of the behavior. Cause and effect. Seems fair to me. It is just the last part of the sentence.
  13. Mistake. A mistake has a motive of not wanting something to happen, but it happens anyway. A fielding error is an example. Making a left turn instead of a right because your mapping app is in a north south orientation and you didn't see it right, didn't transpose your position on the map... you do something which you did not intend to do.... that is a mistake. Deciding to do something, and hoping not to get caught, is not a mistake. It is a bad choice. Not a mistake. Bad choices are not mistakes. I was hoping for continued growth and improvement. Having this on his mind..... couldn't have helped him this spring. I will miss him. I won't miss an error (or two) every game this spring, though.
  14. This is Garver's 27 year old season. He is no spring chicken anymore, not a youngster, and we all know that by 30 players are past their peak . Definitely time to swim. Astudillo. A-stud. What a great name.
  15. All it would take, is for Joe to join the launch angle evolution, hit .300ish with 35 homers, 100 rbi, 40 doubles, and 2 stolen bases. The perfect swing evolves in the mid thirties, grabs the power that his large strong body dormantly stores.....and he extends his career a productive 3-4 years and cruises into the HOF. Piece of cake.
  16. Ah.... experience.... not learn, eh? Gibson is smart. Why would he express anything but boiler plate? $200 - 300 thousand means nothing? If I were in his position, needing to keep getting the opportunities to pitch, I would do the same thing. It really doesn't bother me, but my spindar is definitely tingling. Hell, it isn't my money, so I always say spend! But what does bother me, is when I am assigned an emotion by someone else, especially if it is in a condescending fashion.
  17. So, inquiring minds want to know..... what exactly was it? Is it some secret? You sure it isn't....... 239 lbs?
  18. I am not one that is concerned about Sano, weight or no weight. I think he will be just fine. There is a cultural latino thing. All you have to do is live in and around LA to see and hear it. It is not malicious. Childish, yes. Persistent, yes. Hopeful, yes. Mean spirited, no. A super rich big child, that needs a trusted mentor. Missed the normal schooling because he was playing baseball. I have the same intramedullary rod/nail in my right tibia since 1991. And it was to repair a complete Tib/fib break, not a slight annoying stress fracture. It was very quick healing, and I ran a marathon on it. Tons of physicality in addition. Never a bit of trouble, to this day. Let him play baseball, and play third base.
  19. Because they don't know the process?.... in all their previous experiences and positions that got them the jobs they now have? Right. That's what was said, but I don't buy that spin at all. Hopefully, they already were well aware of the process.
  20. Left out of the Opportunity Cost.... Sanchez. A total waste of $417,000. And I don't care what anybody spins.... the cost of doing business, that's nothing in the grand scope of overall payroll (tell Gibson that, someone that is actually going to stick around, when they couldn't even pony up a couple hundred grand to his arbitration event....), etc..... Sanchez, as said at the time, was a total waste and a bad decision. A total throw away of almost half a million. That is bad management.
  21. For numerous reasons, I have never liked Rodney. Just because I now have to see him way more than I want to now, doesn't mean I have to start liking him.
  22. His time has passed, and the luck run out, is my bet. Not a fan. Never a fan. Will not be a fan of Rodney. It amazes me the the pitching metrics guys in the FO went for him. No top closer, no ace starter. Hmmmmmm. Here comes 2018.....
  23. Maybe. Sure. Are you sure that this isn't MLB Trade Rumors? Because this is surely a fantasy that is just pure rumor fiction from your mind at this point. I can make things up and suppose, too........... but probably shouldn't.
  24. I don't know where or how being suspended for however much time it was for roiding fits in your assessment and reputation problem, but that is on HIM as far as I am concerned. And once a roider, it is impossible to tell how long he was. They all have a story, and it usually involves it was a mistake, and it was the only time. Sure. Sure it was, right?
