  1. Thanks much for this Heezy. I always really enjoy your articles. I have an intramedullary nail (called a rod when "installed" in 1991) in my right tibia from a tib/fib mess, and a had a plate screwed onto my right ulna from 1992 to 2018, and have spent many hours in medical journals, pretending to educate myself. The two hip replacements in 2016 also made me dig in. Your discussions always fascinate me. I for one welcome a technical a surgery discussion, and anything else you would ever want to offer. Thanks again.
  2. I think suspension games should count even if the games are cancelled. What they are doing now is like not counting time served in prison before the conviction. They still sat out those games, whether the league choses to cancel them or not.
  3. This all sounds great. Can't wait for that starter(s) that prove it all works.
  4. March Sadness. NBA suspended season. Baseball is next. Buxton will have plenty of time to be ready......
  5. It would be nice to see a rotation as described. Still waiting for the reality..... I hope it happens sooner than later or never.
  6. Don't look now, but for ever it is worth, our Twins have the worst ST team average in MLB right now. .203 And are 3rd to the last in OPS at .661. It means nothing, right? Almost all the offensive stats are dreadful. And tied for last in SB. They are tied for 3rd in HRs, though.....
  7. Has Buxton abandoned the leg kick again? Or is this just his cage stance?
  8. Well that is quite a stretch. Is that what you feel? Because no one even came close to saying that. I consider extensions, and talk about them related to whether they deserve it and the risk, to be all about salary and money. After all, that is what extensions are. Future salaries.
  9. Yup. Definitely deserves so much less than Pineda. Or Bailey. Or Ordorizzi! That is why he won't be the opening day starter, and a number 4 or 5 of the rotation...... As far as value even just compared to our rotation...... definitely and necessarily getting screwed, and compared to many of the other pitchers in the league (not all) taking home double and triple what he will, definitely and necessarily. The system as it exsists is not fair, comparitively, to the younger stars that perform. Compared to me, not necessarily getting screwed. Shame on me for feeling the age should not be a reason and way to not have to pay someone comparitvely equal to those that are older for the same or better work.
  10. I like it when players get paid proportionate to their performance. I don't like how the system is set up to basically screw the players in their younger years. Should it always be about the ownership winning? I hope he gets paid what he is worth.
  11. The only 2 things I like(d) about Astudillo is his name (not the nickname), and the no look pick off throw he made to first in a Spring Training game. He is a liability everywhere he plays in the field, and as for "commanding the zone".... the way he swings at anything, I wonder if he even knows where the zone is. This is a team that should be done with cute stories, and refining all roster moves for a play-off run. I wish him well, just not on the Twins.
  12. That would be fun! .... for the independent leagues.
  13. It might mean that 5 tool guys were never 5 tool guys, and were overrated.
  14. Is there an over/under yet on when Buxton takes himself out with self inflicted injury?
  15. Exactly. Thanks for the article. Folks really like to shine it up when the deal is made, and those that hate the trades are spoken of as "negative". Prophetic would be more like it.
  16. If this is Falvey's idea of top-end, it is sure not the same as my idea of top-end. I hope he proves it, becomes it..... top-end that is. "Maeda provides the Twins with the top-end pitching that they had been seeking" He got the number he wanted. He got the role he wanted. I hope he gives us what we all want and were promised. Here's to Kenta. Just do it!
  17. LA didn't even want Graterol when it all started! He was going to Boston. It seems pretty clear that Graterol was the Twins choice to trade. From the video on MLB.com that Falvey did, it was Falvey that really wanted Maeda, and wanted to trade Graterol. And LA wanted to dump Maeda, and was able to suck more out from the Twins than Boston, because Falvey really wanted Maeda.
  18. If the development is sooooo good, WHERE IS OUR ACE? All this hype is very premature if you ask me. Which you didn't. The one pitcher with a ceiling that is more than back of the rotation that was actually ready to help us and be on the 26 man roster out of ST was traded for a pitcher that is also being hyped, that the Dodgers were more than happy to move (I mean, it's not like we got Buehler or Urias or Dustin May). Seriously. We are talking Maeda! I hope it pans out. Just as I hope that May and Duffey can actually sustain. Especially Duffey, with just one half season under his belt in which the boards weren't calling for his head. When we have 3 pitchers from the farm that are actually battling for the top spot in the rotation, I will jump right on board. One thing that became obvious as the trade finally became official, is that the FO was really wanting to dump Graterol, for what ever reason that seems to be a secret. And with the Dodgers, they were even willing to add the second highest draft pick the Twins had left, and another basically MLB ready prospect.
  19. I don't read anywhere "here" that the feeling is immunity for the players was justified. It is just acknowledged as it was part of the process. I certainly don't feel it was justified, but once it is on the table, it is part of the story, and is not something to hold against the player. I find the comparison to capital murder....... especially for stealing signs, which people do from second base all the time.... kind of excessive. I don't think there was even bodily harm of any kind involved.
  20. And Shoeless Joe had backed out. Pesky details.
  21. The Twins must have really wanted to get rid of Graterol, and get Maeda. That really surprises me. Graterol for an innings eater. Blows me away.
  22. Well, I listened to (radio) and watched tons of Dodger games the last two years, and heard tons of "Dodger Talk" programs, and that is the main spin, for sure. And he wasn't the only one. Same with Ross Stripling (15 starts), who had a great run as a starter last year. Hey, the Dodgers had a very deep staff. Still will with Urias (8) and May (4) and Gonsolin (6) and Ferguson (2) coming up. But let's get real. You don't get pushed to the pen if you are one of the top four starters, unless it is for a spot inning in the post season. It was to his credit that he could handle the pen pretty well. But Maeda (26) was not one of the top 4 starters, even, but the ones that were were on the IL. Being 5,6, or 7 out of 11 that they used to start games last year is not the worst, either. Blake Parker better than the last two years of Kenley? Seriously? I won't even answer "which Kenley Jansen....."
  23. One thing in life to learn is...... you should punish yourself, but you shouldn't keep punishing yourself (or your children) for the same thing, over and over, once you have come clean. Once is enough. All the players got immunity (not their decision) so they would tell the truth in the investigation. Some will try to punish them all year from the stands, like they have never done anything that if the whole stadium knew about, they would be shamed as well. Plus, there will still be a goal to accomplish the same result in stealing signs in other ways. The penalty for doing it electronically aided is clear, but the goal and end result which is the same no matter how you do it will still try to be achieved all year long, every game. I also don't believe the Astros, Red Sox, and Yankees were/are the only teams doing it in some kind of aided way. Hell, nobody does anything....... until they get caught, eh? Let's play ball.
  24. That is the popular opinion based on the conservative and common process of projection that is often used. But my bet is that Garver will not fit in your/the box. People were saying the same thing about Kepler not being able to hit lefties, so don't let him play against lefties. I contended all he needed was more at bats against lefties, and he would be fine and improve. Garver knows his weaknesses, and will be improving them. Baldelli has already said that he doesn't expect a huge difference in his time behind the plate. I bet there is some more though. We will see who's projection is right at the end of the year. So while it's also not a given for players to keep improving once they hit their stride, I like that he is a good candidate to improve as he progresses this year. Glad to see Harper gone. I will also be happy for the Twins when swing-at-everything-mediocre-at-every-position Astudillo is gone. I wish them well carrying on their career, elsewhere.
