  1. I'm not sure of any of this and that's why I keeping coming back because the truth lies somewhere in the depths of Twins Daily!!
  2. You would hope that somewhere in the Twins org. they are looking at Worley before and after to find out what they missed and not let that happen again. Not just Worley but any player that leaves and gets better, why did this happen what did we miss? I tend to think, from what we have heard over the years from TR, that isn't the case. He/they do it their way for good or bad and not much changes.
  3. I'm really not sure what this means but payroll always comes up when free agent talk starts. This is a list of what AL teams spent, on payroll, last year for every ticket sold. Again I don't know what it means but it is interesting: 1. Cleveland $58.8 2. Yankees $58 3. Toronto $57.8 4. Detroit $56 5. White Sox $54.6 6. Tampa $53.1 7. Boston $52.3 8. Angels $49.9 9. Texas $49.1 10. KC $47.1 11. Seattle $43.7 12. Oakland $41.1 13. Baltimore $43.6 14. Twins $38 15. Houston $28.8 To be in the middle of the pack the Twins would need to spend about $50 per ticket sold. That would equal a payroll of about $112.5 million. Of course, that doesn't equal more wins would happen.
  4. While I would have really liked the hiring of Maddon and was not happy they didn't at least talk to him, I lost a lot of respect for him and the Cubs front office for how this turned out if true. This isn't a very classy way to treat the current manager by the Cubs or Maddon.
  5. Let's hope Ryan isn't doing his job based on hearsay. The only real way of knowing Maddon wasn't interested or wanted more money than what he'd pay is to call. Let's hope the question is asked and the answer isn't that I didn't have a phone number or I heard this or that.
  6. There is no valid excuse for not at least getting on a plane and flying to him and spending a couple hours talking about things with him, imo. If after that the end result was it just wasn't a fit so be it. However not even talking to him is maddon-ing!
  7. The only way he blocks anyone is if they are better than him and four other starters. That would be a good problem to have. You can never have to much good pitching and right now we have a lot of iffy and few (one) good starters. I'll never be against bringing in players that are better than what we have it's the only way you get better.
  8. Reported to want 5 yrs - $25 mill. 5 years of Maddon for what they pay Mauer for one year seems fair.
  9. He is going to want a lot of money maybe 5m a year. The twins can afford that but will Terry write that kind of check? I kind of doubt it.
  10. Do it!!!!!
  11. Prospects are never a sure thing so anytime you can add players that are better than what you have now do it. If the prospects are good enough you'll find a place for them.
  12. So what are the chances of any of these guys hitting Target Field this year and at least looking like they belong?
  13. Trade Arcia (he's not an outfielder and teams over pay for homeruns) to the Rays they need some power for one of Archer, Cobb or Odorizzi I'm not an expert on any of these guys by the way just guessing. Trade for Bourjos or even Revere. Use Hicks and what ever in right. Nolasco goes to the Dodges for Crawford and some money. Crawford, Bourjos, Hicks outfield would be very good. That gets us much better outfield defense which will make the pitching better and it improves team speed. Way to many slow DH types now, imo. I'd be wiling to trade Plouffe for a solid return. Of course, I'm a dumb fan and these may all be stupid!
  14. I'm not sure he doesn't give up as many runs with his outfield play as he produces with the bat. As he gets older he'll just get bigger and slower. If I could get a major league ready starter I'd trade him. We have lots of big slow dh types and we need some good defensive outfielders to help out the pitching staff, imo.
  15. Mike I'm not real happy with what you just said but I'm not going to complain, today anyway!
  16. St Peter just needs to stop talking about it.
  17. Friedman is leaving the Rays for a job with the Dodgers. That really sucks for the Rays. I still think we should try a trade for Maddon. Betting he'll be the new Dodgers manager tho.
  18. Pohlad said that 50-52% of revenue would go to payroll. Forbes had the Twins at $212m last year and we have heard the 50% number from St Peter and others. My Mn. math says 50% is $106m and payroll was about $85m. There really isn't any reason to hash this over every year. We (taxpayers) were sold a bill of goods and now we can do nothing about it except stop buying tickets and merchandise. Target Field is not going away until at least 2020 when we'll hear they need a new stadium in order to compete. It is what it is they lied. Is that really so hard to believe?
  19. He'll be 26 next spring and have 9 years in the minors. If he isn't ready by now then he likely will never be. He needs to play on a regular basis for the Twins and either sink or swim. Then we have something or we move on.
  20. I'll be very surprised if it's not someone from inside the Twins org. Hard to see Terry hiring a manager from outside that he'd have to spend the winter teaching the Twins way.
  21. This should make the pitchers happy having more infielders playing in the outfield.
