  1. Well I'm blaming this game on Joe West.
  2. After the last four years humor is all we have. I think we are all cried out!
  3. The new improved Ricky looks a lot like the old Ricky, imo.
  4. Dick and Bert need to buy a rule book and stop bitching about Monday.
  5. Let's hope Brain doesn't get in the habit of letting work get in the way of baseball. Priorities my friend!
  6. Hamels isn't going to make this a playoff team this year. When they finally get some of these prize prospects up and producing then it would make sense to add a top pitcher. However, when has Ryan ever done something like that when he's had the chance?
  7. For all baseball fans a rule book is less than $10. Or if you want a pdf download is free at MLB web site. Get one!
  8. "He broke his wrists", "The bat went past the front of the plate." Many people believe those two statements are written in the rules or are written as official interpretations of a strike. THEY ARE NOT. A strike by definition is "a pitch that is struck at by the batter and is missed." It is purely a judgment made by the umpire as to whether the batter "struck at" the pitch. Breaking the wrists or the bat moving beyond the front of the plate or the batter's body, are factors that the umpire may use to make the judgment. Factors is all they are; not definitions. Once West called it a swinging strike there is no appeal. An appeal is only allowed when a ball is called and the defense asks for an appeal that it was a swing. The umpire does not have to grant the appeal.
  9. The real sad thing is that after 4 90+ loss seasons we are still talking about getting out of last place.
  10. The sad thing is we are still talking about Pelfrey. At his best, which he hasn't been in a long time, he was mediocre. We shouldn't be talking about 30+ yr olds that never were good and we should be talking about young, up and coming guys that will improve the future of this team, imo. How much longer are we going to wait for the future?
  11. As of right now the Span and Revere trades looks very sad.
  12. I like hearing Bruno say we aren't going to give any outs away.
  13. Is it a lot to ask waiting for a week or two before the complaining starts? Plenty of time for that when the season starts.
  14. If we had only picked up Butera, another missed opportunity!
  15. There was a rumor, untrue by the way, that Calvin gave Castro a tryout back in the 50's. However, Calvin did have a good connection in Cuba he got a lot of good ballplayers out of there. Modern day Twins not so much.
  16. Keep Vargas and trade them Mauer.
  17. Being mediocre is much better than being the worst! Baby steps.
  18. Staff could be decent with this. Hope Meyer is in the rotation, May and Milone in the pen. Pelfry going to work for MLB working on speeding up the game!
  19. Making an offer and making one that is competitive are often not close to the same thing in Terry's world.
  20. I've been watching the Twins since 1961 and one thing I can say for certain is that countless, and I can count fairly high, countless prospects have flamed out after hearing over and over how great they will become. Imo, it is better to have more talent than spots rather than the many spots with no talent we've been having the last 4 years.
  21. I don't get all the blocking stuff. If you really think that the best player won't find his way onto the field then you must think the front office and coaching staff is completely incompetent. If the front office or coaches play a lesser player for whatever reason they should be fired.
  22. Trade Nolasco for CJ Wilson. Gets us a lefty and he certainly has more upside. Much rather have Wilson than any of the other guys. I'm not sure why LA would want Nolasco but what the heck. Stop signing NL retreads that doesn't work!
  23. A success would be not signing another NL pitcher.
  24. It's likely Drew Butera will be back with the team in the next few days. He was just let go and he already knows the Twins secret handshake.
