    I think we need to get a grip here. At his best May has been mediocre to this point in his career, he isn't a top of the rotation guy we're losing. Let's hope he can come back and be a decent pitcher because even decent is better than most of what we have, imo.

    I think both this signing and the Nishi signing were pushed by St Peter. Several times after both signings he talked about "expanding the Twins brand". Trading Hardy for nothing and bringing in an unproven Nishi didn't really make much baseball sense and bringing in Park with a roster full of 1B-DH types really didn't either. IMO both of these were more marketing decisions and not baseball decisions.

    If they can get 50 innings of semi decent relief work out of him and maybe an occasional spot start they should be happy with his year, imo.

    I agree with Mike. The Twins wanted to build mostly by the draft so if you won't spend big on free agents and Int. signings then you have to be better than mediocre drafting or you get what we've seen the last 6 years.

    Willingham was really a replacement, at a cheaper price, for Cuddyer. He wasn't that finishing touch to get the team over the hump type move that Nick was talking about..

    I'd tend to go with the best position player. Pitchers are just so hard to judge, seems like a much higher fail rate and always the chance of injury finishing his career early. And I know we really need pitching.
