  1. Cron doesn't hit outside of Coors field and he is struggling this year. 2022 Splits: Coors: .303/.354/.601 22 HR 75 RBI 309 PA Away: .214/.279/.340 7 HR 27 RBI 323 PA 2021: Coors: .326/.412/.661 19 HR 68 RBI 274 PA Away: ,235/.337/.397 9 HR 24 RBI 273 PA 2023 numbers: .251/.297/.455 Good for .752 OPS and 91 OPS+ He seems to be on the downside of his career and hasn't hit outside of Coors field really since he was the Twins in 2019. I say hard pass on CJ.
  2. If Polanco was healthy the first half the season I have a hard team the offense wouldn't have been better as a whole. Julien only started 36 games in the 1st half, a healthy Polanco probably starts 75. If only we can field a team where both a healthy Jorge and Julien exist.
  3. I always thought that Gomez was in the big leagues too soon. Yes, he had the speed and the defense but his bat was far from developed. He never hit for power until 2013 season, which was 4 years after he was traded. Trading him away when they did always surprised me as well.
  4. If Polanco was healthy he would probably be putting up Polanco-esk numbers and we wouldn't be hurting as much for offense this year. I think it's pretty clear that Julien isn't going to be a long term 2nd basemen. The Buxton debacle right now is what's clouding up Julien's immediate future IMO, especially with AK manning 1st. Then again if Kep and Gallo are both gone next year, AK could move to a corner and make way for Julien at 1st.....that is if they trust his glove there even. Most players get opportunities through injury or position openings when guys don't get extended, that's kind of the name of the game in baseball. You earn a spot by taking advantage of those opportunities unless you are a mega prospect.
  5. I know it's be beaten to death, but unless you are getting something significantly better than a comp pick, there's really no reason to trade Gray. I can't imagine there is much interest Gallo and would only be in a deal via a salary swap. IMO It would be completely asinine to even consider moving Duran...even for a big haul.
  6. And Julien earned his way up by crushing AA, AAA and WBC pitching as a 23-24 year old. Helman could certainly be a Castro type guy, even though he is already older. If he keeps hitting in AAA I imagine he should earn a 40 man roster slot but age certainly really isn't on his side right now.
  7. And MLB pitching is MUCH hard to hit than AAA pitching. You named 8 guys who you think should be getting ML AB's, Who you taking off the 40 man and 26 man roster? Castro has better speed and positional flexibility than anyone you named. His OPS is low, but he was forced into a starting position much longer than he really should have been. He is a weapon off the bench. A competing team isn't going to DFA half their veterans to give guys who are 25-28 full time AB's because they hit over .800 OPS in AAA. Trevor Larnach is a prime example. He crushes AAA pitching and gets exposed by ML pitching...and he probably has the highest potential ceiling of the bunch. This seems like such a "grass is greener on the other side" type thing. You might not care about a division title, but I bet you the current players, front office and staff does.
  8. Outside of recent Wallner decisions, who hasn't gotten a chance to earn their way up?
  9. I don't really consider June 26th in May, but okay. Assuming the HR dry up, yeah he's unplayable, but isn't that just a guess that they will dry up? He's always been a 3 outcome player. I'm not advocating for Gallo, all I am saying is it's really easy to use a SSS to your advantage. If Wallner wants the playing time, he is going to have to produce when he's in the lineup and take advantage....and I'm hoping this happens.
  10. I still think that Kepler is going nowhere. He is a much better defensive OF than AK, Larnach, and Wallner. His last 22 games he's hitting .278/.338/.514 with an OPS of .851. I know he's streaky and has a bad rep around here, but he has produced. With Lewis more than likely coming back sooner rather than later, I highly doubt they make a move for a 3B, especially with Farmer and Solano getting reps there. I still think the team should add a RH hitting OF and another bullpen arm.
  11. Man.....Julien is hot, hot, hot right now!
  12. He's gone.....I have no problem rooting for him or the Reds. 🤷‍♂️
  13. AK baby! Elsewhere CES just got his first major league hit. A pinch hit 3 run shot. Congrats to the kid.
  14. You can use SSS all you want. In his last 16 games which dates back to June 26 his line is : .216/.341/.649 with an OPS of .990 in 44 PA. He is K'ing at 45% in that time stretch though. It's certainly fueled by 5 HR in that span, but it's hardly unplayable.
  15. Are there are links to interviews Max saying he won't play CF? Was it him? His agent? When I search I just find links to TD. Either way, Taylor is a better CF than Max is.
  16. I didn't like the result,l but I don't mind Kep swinging at that pitch. Yes', Solano worked a great AB and got a walk, but it's not like Munoz couldn't find the plate. I'd rather see Kep ground out missing a good pitch to hit rather than see him try to flail at Munoz's slider which is more than likely coming if he gets ahead in the count.
  17. Their momentum? You mean Gray's inability to throw strikes?
  18. Where did Buck hit that? Dead away center? 107.8 MPH with an xBA of .810
  19. 70 pitches for Gilbert thru 3. It would be great to start chewing thru Seattle's pen early.
  20. No runs or hits, but 26 pitches from Gilbert has to be seen as a plus.
  21. I mean...I'd say the 2nd half started with the 1st game of the 2nd Half. 2nd half season record: 3-0.
  22. Why would you trade your young OF depth, especially when there are real no viable options after them? That's how you run into a situation like last season where you are forced to play Celestino/Cave/Williams/Contreras in almost a full time role. I get people want to see Wallner, I thought he might get a start today, but he's been up for 2 whole games. I don't see how being worried about the 2024 starting OF lineup right now is a concern. There's probably a pretty decent chance that Taylor is roaming CF next year.
