Good luck Linus, this site has become worse than startribune comments, and this is a site that was one of my favorites just a few weeks ago. It's actually really sad. I miss BYTO.
No GM is going to be fired mid-season, especially at a time when expectations were low AND the team is actually still 1.5 games up in the WC race. People are getting extremely ahead of themselves.
A. The deadline is still 2 days away. B. Since Ryan has been back, realistically what have the Twins had to trade at the deadline? Willingham a few years ago? Suzuki last year? It's not like the terrible teams of the past 2-3 years were ripe with over achieving veterans looking to be flipped.
Getting Price would be no means guaranteed playoffs this year. Even if it did would that be worth losing Rosario and Stewert? (which i think would be the Tigers selling extremely low) I say no way, especially to Detroit.
I would not go after Price. He is a free agent to be and there is probably about a 0% chance the Twins would resign him. Why help re-build the Tigers for 2 months of Price? Where this team is right now, it just wouldn't make sense for a rental.
Duensing actually struck out a guy then walked a guy, he didn't hit anyone. A walk to the 9th hitter is inexcusable though, especially since he was up 1-2 on the guy. And it's Jared Burton and Casey Fien.
Hicks. .271/.335/.387 .722 OPS 14.5 K% .297 BABIP 0.5 dWAR Rosario. .284/.308/.418 .725 OPS 23.3 K% .359 BABIP 0.3 dWAR I really think it would be a mistake to trade Hicks. Not only is he a better defender but his ability to take a walk and the fact that his K's have come down each year is just a great trend.
And at he same time the people who think the Twins should be aggressive at the deadline, say it every single year, winning or losing, and when they aren't aggressive they call the front office lazy, incompetent and foolish.
Let's be realistic here, the 2009 Twins shouldn't have made the playoffs. They were 1 game over .500 at the deadline and needed a 17-4 run to end the season AND an epic collapse by Detroit to sneak in. Duensing started because Baker had to pitch 163 just to give them a chance to get in.
