  1. I'm not saying they are the models to follow. I am saying people who are tired of not competing for 4 seasons act like it's completely out of the norm to go through stretches of non-competitive baseball. None of the teams i mentioned spent fast and furious to get where they are.
  2. Which teams are spending quicker and more? The Royals mad the playoffs for the first time last year in 30 years. The Astros haven't seen the postseason in 10 years. The Blue Jays in 22 years. Before Pittsburgh's 2 straight appearances it had been 21 years, before Washington's 2 appearances in 3 years it had been 30 years since they made the postseason. That's half your projected playoff teams (I'm slotting in TOR.) Outside of Toronto which of those teams didn't build up a system and then compete? You know what happens AFTER you build a farm system? You let them develop. High picks Stewart, Gordon and Jay aren't even out of A ball yet. It's like planting 100 acres full of crops and trying to harvest in June, it just doesn't work. Yes, there well run franchises like San Fran and St. Louis, who are the anomalies. I didn't count LA and NY because of their unlimited budget.
  3. That AS game layoff did something to Milone. Before the break he had 7 starts in a row of 2 or less ER allowed giving up 3HR total. In 3 starts since he has given up 13 runs in 14.2 innings and allowed 6 long balls. He has started 14 games this season and his last 3 have been 3 of his 4 worst of the year.
  4. You have to take into consideration that Soria was a 1/2 year rental while the Twins have Jepson under control for 2016 as well.
  5. Isn't there a clause in Tulo's contract where he could only be trade once?
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there is no market for Pelfrey. I see him being a late August dump for a PTBNL. I would say Milone probably has some value. He has pitched well and is left handed and is cheap, but don't see why the Twins would be in a rush to deal him.
  7. Yeah, I'm thinking he's probably not going to get there and will suit up tomorrow.
  8. Are you really comparing Clippard, Soria and Papelbon to Burton and Fien? Are you also criticizing the Perkins extension? The Twins weren't going sign Willingham to a 3 year free agent deal and deal him 3 months into the season, it's not how you treat newly signed free agents. A lot of your post has clout, but a lot of it you are reaching to make points to slam the front office for.
  9. Comparing the cores of both teams before the trades should be taken into consideration. The Jays are in a better position to sell off a lot of depth and make a run. Let's not act they both were in identical situations and they decided to and the Twins didn't. The majority of the Jays core is 29 or older. The majority of the Twins core is under that age.
  10. Jepsen instantly becomes the best right handed reliever in the Twins bullpen, how does that not improve the team?
  11. If he gets picked up by someone at this point, oh well. He will be 29 this off season, he's walking as many as he is striking out this year in AAA (which is 5 per 9 both ways), he wouldn't be a loss as far as I'm concerned.
  12. You were the one using ERA of all stats from 2013, not me. I stated his numbers are up this year, I didn't miss that part.
  13. 2013: BABIP .345, FIP 3.39 K/9 9.0 2014: BABIP .263, FIP 2.78, K/9 10.4 His fastball is down a little this year and his K/9 is down while his BB/9 is up, but don't cherry pick the past to make him look worse. I am not huge on this deal, but here's to hoping that TR saw a chance at a setup man on a down year and he turns it around. A year ago this would have been an elite deadline arm. He's only 31.
  14. The Jays also haven't seen the postseason in 22 years. Now the WS, the postseason. Could these trades lead them there? Sure. Could it back fire, they miss the playoffs and have a barren farm system in the not too distant future? Absolutely. It looks good for the Jays now, but this is something to watch and look back on than to rate now.
  15. 1st year players cant be traded.
  16. It's Hu......wtf....
  17. Any guesses to who the two pitchers are?
  18. Kevin Jepson to the Twins as per Ken Rosenthal on twitter
  19. That $9m option for next year is mighty high for a pitcher like Broxton. Decline it and he's a rental.
  20. With Dozier, where ya planning on playing Gordon at?
  21. June 1st the Twins were: 30-19 June 1st the Jays were: 23-29 Since then: Twins are 23-29 Jays are 28-22 They have been 6 games better than the Twins in 2 months and Price hasn't even suited up yet. I hope a million people just assume it's the only reason if they pass the Twins.
  22. Send Danny to AAA where he can play everyday.
  23. Dozier 2B Hicks CF Mauer 1B Sano 3B Hunter RF Rosario LF Escobar DH Suzuki C Polanco SS Hughes P Sano and Polanco on the left side of the infield, could it be a look Twins fans will see for years to come?
  24. A lot of people down on Buxton because of the injuries?
