  1. My bad I mis-read and thought you meant just 08, but yes he was.
  2. Bello being replaced by Smoak for defensive purposes mid game?
  3. We are just full of good timing memories
  4. It's really too bad about the concussion this year. Not that it would have happened, but I really wanted to see him get a shot this year.
  5. Oh sit the F@&$! down Donaldson.
  6. Individual thoughts, collective pessimism.
  7. Remember that week that TD really wanted Fryer to be the starter for the rest of the based on one 2 hit game? Good times.
  8. TD complains about every move. They DFA someone who eventually is useful? Incompetence. They sign someone another team DFA'd and has success? Cheap dumpster diving.
  9. Ouch. Hat trick for Fryer and it's only the 6th inning.
  10. Is anything in the 5th inning ever high leverage? I honestly don't know. I would rather not see Boyer, but it seems a little early to be going to your set up man.
  11. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanonononononononononononono!!
  12. They didn't want to waste May taking a day off to have a bullpen day for May, hence taking him out of the Toronto series. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.
  13. Can we put this to rest already? Berrios will get his shot. Duffey has pitched well enough to get a shot. It's unfortunate it's on the road against a team like Toronto
  14. Ortiz had been gone for 6 years by 2008. It was a bad move, but using 2008 is pushing it a tad with Ortiz.
  15. The OP himself, which was me, said if you could go back in time and see Pelfrey's current stats through 20 starts before this season that you would be pleasantly surprised and I called him an average mid-rotation starter this year. I said no where that he has actually done well. Maybe my expectations for him were lower than everyone else's but they Twins have gotten value out of Pelfrey this season, and more value that I would have imagined.
  16. No I say it like a realistic thing. You can honestly look yourself in the face and think the Twins would have shelled out $85M dollars over 5 seasons for 32 year Russel Martin this past offseason? Even without Suzuki in the picture, I just can't fathom that this would give that out.
  17. Even if they didn't resign Suzuki (which I was against) the chances of them shelling out anywhere even close to the money Martin got was slim to none.
  18. With the position the Twins were in this current past offseason and the fact Suzuki was under contract for 2 more season they were never going to shell out that kind of money for 32 year old Russell Martin, zero chance of it happening.
  19. Coming off an injury where he missed substantial time mixed with the fact that he was pretty lost with the bat the first time around, I see no reason to rush him back to the majors at this point.
  20. Given Mauer's splits against Price, benching Mauer was absolutely the right decision. Price has dominated him over the years.
  21. I wish Duffey luck and hopefully he pitches well, he has certainly earned with how he has pitched this year. It sucks that every Duffey thread is derailed by "Why not May or Berrios and/or front office incompetence!!" I would guess that Duffey gets 2-3 starts no matter what. One road start against arguably the best offense in baseball is a pretty damn short leash for your MLB debut.
  22. Tell me before the season that you wouldn't be surprised if someone told you that Pelfrey through 20 starts would have a 3.65 ERA with a 4.05 FIP. Pretty much your average mid rotation starter, which I'm sure anyone would be pleasantly surprised with before the season.
  23. Oops I added wrong somewhere, good catch. I think Tulo is a fantastic player I am not knocking him, I was more trying to show that Dozier is a pretty good player. I only used Tulo in this specific case because of the attention he has gotten in the past 2-3 weeks. Off topic and just on Tulo, but I will also add I am interested to watch his numbers going forward to see if that hip surgery he had last year has lasting effects. His power and defense has slipped considerately this season, his first since the surgery.
