  1. You really think they would hire a new GM and let Anthony slide back in as an Asst. GM?
  2. His helmet stayed on!? What is this sorcery?
  3. I would say there a lot of times when you can get a better return in the offseason than at the deadline.
  4. Very, but....I don't make assumptions anymore
  5. Oh God, if they pay a firm to help with the search and then hire in house.......the place is going to go up in flames
  6. After this season Santana will be on a 2 year, $27M dollar deal. Could he have more value during the offseason than he does now to a team needing a starter? I think it's something that the front office has to and probably is considering. Judging by the potential free agent class......might be wise to hang on to him if they aren't offered a decent package in the next week?
  7. I think substitutions in baseball are just fine. You could take too much advantage of things if you could allow players back into a game. Roster limits would help curb this, but there would be nothing to stop a team from running out 3 DH type players and readily substituting in a fielder every inning. Sano could be penciled in at SS, replaced by Escobar every half inning back and forth. Or....Sano gets on base, gets pinch run for, and then re-substituted in for the next batter. Too many ways to take advantage of a baseball game by re-using players.
  8. You know who has the highest BABIP in baseball since 2014? Ricky Nolasco at an unsustainable .347 and his FIP and xFIP both sit at a much lower 4.21 and 4.19. I know we love to rag on Ricky, but he has not been as bad as that ERA suggests.
  9. Good point. There's always the other scenario as well....they fail in October, don't resign him and he re-ups with the Yankees again the off-season.
  10. Cobb got hit in the head with a line drive in 2014 and missed too months then tore his UCL before the 2015 season and is still working his way back.
  11. Awesome catch by Eddie! V-Mart couldn't believe it.....and it actually looked like Eddie couldn't really believe it either lol
  12. That stare. There was no way Verlander was being taken out there.
  13. That's the problem, even when you have a board chalk full of people who want to rip the front office about advanced statistics, you still get a hoard of people who will say, "he gets no RBI and always looks for a walk!" Joe is getting on base almost 50% of the time with runners in scoring position. That should be extremely valuable!
  14. So if I have a spare key to your house and I come in and loot the place does that make me less of a burglar than a guy who broke a window and did the same? The broad definition of a hacker is "a person who uses computers to gain unauthorized access to data." and that is exactly what he did.
  15. Meh, I think you are reading way, way, way to into a one line answer made to an interview question. He basically said we are going to study what other teams have going on right now. I would rather have him say that than pull a Michael Scott and say "We have a super secret plan!!"
  16. What's so wrong with the media guide comment? There are 30 teams that all have their front office's made up differently. For example, the Dodgers media guide for 2015. http://mlb.mlb.com/documents/0/2/4/114179024/LAD_2015_Media_Guide_wuzuz729.pdf There is nothing wrong with a vague comment like the one Jim Pohlad gave in my book. People are looking way, way, way to into things to already be making decisions and generalizations about a blanket statement like that.
  17. Why not? He interviewed with the Phillies and Brewers last year so it looks he is open to leaving Oakland. Forst was just hired last year, so he's probably not eyeing the position there.
  18. Is this year's trade deadline really going to be considered "franchise altering"? I would like to see them unload some vets, but franchise altering might be pushing it.
  19. Oh, I hadn't divulged into those threads. Hacking into someone's system today is basically the same as breaking into offices and rifling through someone else's documents 30 years ago for secrets etc. Crime in my book.
  20. I'm going to hold off judgement, especially with Buxton and Mauer. A game with a 2+ hour rain delay requires getting stretched out and ready twice, Buxton could still be a little sore from the collision last week and Mauer has nearly played every day all season. As for Sano, I would have preferred him in the lineup over Grossman, but he did K 3 times and make 2 errors the day before.
  21. Why wouldn't that be a crime?
  22. I prefer Roy Hobbs. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y260/fritschcards/royhobbs.jpg
  23. Unless they have another business proposition on the table, why? Sports franchises are booming right now and with the recent woes on the Twins, you would think even at that high value they would be selling "low." Unless they just want to get out of the business, it seems like a bad time to sell to me.
