  1. Underwhelming lineup. I'll watch the beginning to see how May does, though.
  2. I recall this too. I can't remember what the difference was. Psychological? maybe pure coincidence?
  3. That definitely doesn't count. During spring training, only the first two innings mean anything, and then, only if the Twins are up by a lot.
  4. Also, Caleb Thielbar apparently pitches for the Marlins. Who knew?
  5. 7 - 0. And you all laughed at this lineup!
  6. Isn't Reginatto an infielder? I mean, he's not an outfielder...
  7. Grossman's "defense" isn't helping.
  8. Just in time to watch ....some guy be the DH!
  9. They scored that a hit. No, Escobar isn't a great fielder, but let's not pretend that was a routine play that he booted.
  10. Not to speak for OP, but surely there's a sample size problem? 0-1 stolen bases wouldn't indicate anything more than 1-1 would. He didn't try enough. Was that because he isn't fast enough, or did he have few opportunities, or were the coaches just focusing on different parts of his game? We have no idea. The stats simply don't and can't help in this case. And I say this as (apparently) the person most skeptical of Kiriloff in this thread.
  11. Today and Every Day at the Variety Theatre an Additional Programme PROFESSOR WOLAND Seances of Black Magic!
  12. A quick scan of Wikipedia (which, if I learned anything in law school, is literally always right) shows that in 1995, the Twins only won 56 games. They only played 144. Similarly, in the strike-shortened 1994 season, they only won 53, out of a total of 113. So I'm assuming that they are acknowledging that, while the Twins have won fewer games in a season, they have never had a worse percentage.
  13. Woo! I think it's way too early to relegate him to the bullpen. He should have taken some lumps in the rotation last year and been ready to go again this year. But better late than never.
  14. My source says that there will be a new blockbuster Dozier trade thread within 24 hours.
  15. I'd be on board with this, for sure. On a one year deal though, I wonder if he'd be interested in last year's worst team in the league.
  16. Following on to my prior post, given that he actually is top 3 talent, his availability bonus certainly ought to get the Twins a significant second piece. I take De Leon plus Alvarez for sure, and I don't sweat the third or fourth pieces. If, as a poster who shall remain nameless is correct, this is the basic framework of the trade, then great. I respect the Twins' front office for not caving on the third and fourth piece, but I do hope they don't overplay their hand.
  17. I'd like to interject something here. If we take Fangraphs' word for it, then over the last three years, sorted by WAR, Dozier is a top three second baseman. He's #3, in fact. Here's the link (I really hope it works): http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=2b&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2016&month=0&season1=2014&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=21,d Basically, over the last three years, he's been outpaced in fWAR by only Altuve and Kinsler. Saying "he's no Altuve" isn't terribly correct either, because the difference averaged out by season is only 0.76 WAR. Less than a win. I'd say that's pretty damn close. Objectively, Brian Dozier has a good case as a top 3 second baseman in all of baseball.
  18. My unsophisticated answers, based mostly on listening to the discussion here. Yes, this does include reading more than 100 forum pages of the Dozier trade discussion. All of it. For better and for worse. 1. Urias, Bellinger, Buehler 2. Urias, Alvarez, de Leon, Buehler, Sheffield, Stewart 3. Bellinger, Verdugo, Lux, Calhoun, Diaz 4. Pretty much any of them if we're talking about a 3rd of 4th piece. I really just think those first two players ought to knock our socks off. I'm fine with taking an older guy like a Van Slyke as well, but you gotta get the headliners right. 5. Don't have enough expertise for this one. Maybe Chase de Jong? 6. I don't think I'd lock anybody out. I don't know that Puig has a good fit on the Twins, but if we say absolutely no to anyone, we give up leverage. Who knows, we could even flip a guy like Puig, or use him or others to create a three-team trade. 7. De Leon (should we call him De Rigeur at this point?) and Alvarez. Throw-ins after that don't matter much. I'd also consider De Leon plus at least three from a list of high-upside younger guys (guys like Lux or Sheffield) and major-league-ready role players (guys like Van Slyke or Andrew Toles). I'd really prefer that the next guy after De Leon be a very-high-upside guy like Alvarez, because quality over quantity, but I am also of the opinion that this trade really needs to happen. 8. De Leon and one Alvarez or Buehler if they'll give him up (they won't) or Bellinger (also won't), plus two more pieces probably in the minors for another year or three. 9. Yeah, pretty much. I mean, I'm willing to avoid baying for front-office blood if it doesn't happen because we probably won't ever know for real what was and wasn't on the table. But I really think that something ought to happen here. For the future of the club. 10. Most likely between 4 and 6. Leaving room for injuries or for a repeat of his awesome 2016. 11. 35.
  19. Could you have kept going?
  20. On mobile and you got me. I'm not even mad.
  21. So, I've heard some stuff through the grapevine about a Dozier trade. Anyone else hear anything?
  22. I wonder about the first one. A guy who's basically never thrown a pro pitch? The second one is more interesting to me. That's basically a $24 million salary dump for the Dodgers, or more than Dozier is set to be paid for the rest of his contract. Obviously it hinges on which "higher prospects." Are we putting Urias back on the table?
