  1. From the mythbuilders in the front office that thought Nishi would be a clearly better option than the 2012 Gold Glove-winning and year-in, year-out AL top 3 fielding SS?
  2. Did you catch Gardy's post-game comments about him (he completely flip-flopped on the guy who he now knows as "The Horse" from the comments he made last Sunday)? You'll love him even more! He's defying all of the conventional wisdom with a performance like today and DicknBert said he is obsessive in his training and rehab regimens. That's why I wish that Ryan would have gotten that 2nd year team option on the "Big Horse" (he's still bound to have at least one setback in 2013).
  3. If a pitcture is worth a 1000 words- there were 3 pictures in just a couple of seconds that must be worth 3000- 1) that look of relief on Hicks' face as he stood on First Base after the hit 2) Scott Ullger trying to intercept the delivery of the ball to Hicks, only to be abruptly rejected by Fielder 3) Fielder's giant mitt of a hand pushing that ball into Hicks hands- as Hicks continued with that look of relief and then a very brief smile... baseball, gotta love it!
  4. More proof that the 9-spot in the lineup is the key to winning batting order construction.
  5. Platooning? What's that again?
  6. In his 2nd game of the season, Austin Jackson's bungling in CF yesterday cost his team a victory- of course he has a body of work. How about we let Parm do the same before we break out the pitchforks, tar and feathers. Besides, until Arcia is really ready, there really aren't a lot of strong alternatives.
  7. Sorry to rain on the parade, but if he sustains a pitching-level like today's outing he will be gone by July.
  8. 22900 "announced" and the place looked empty. (More "Twins Way" wins like today might staunch the blood-letting, but at this point, a 20% drop in attendance down to ~2.25M seems likely)
  9. What's that again?
  10. Yup, save Correia for April and September
  11. Valverde, I believe, is still available...
  12. Joe Benson and Clete Thomas yell in unison: "I coulda done that!"
  13. Yes. The man is a walking bend-but-not-break machine out there. How long will this cold weather last? I think that's his ally today.
  14. No fair sneaking in old photos from the Met.
  15. Just getting in the spirit of things today as role reversals are running rampant
  16. How many Twins top 15 prospect lists is Romy Jimenez a part of?
  17. Who's to say eddavis didn't imply the opposite? A TD and FG for the Twins and KC gets sacked in the end zone?
  18. Fenway has an area in left field...
  19. (Only better!)
  20. I can see it already happening. Plenty of walk-up seats available for purchase on opening day. Season ticket sales way down. Media interest cratering is a direct reflection on where the local sports meida producers think the sports consumer interest is at. To wit, today might be the first game at Target Field where the "announced" crowd could be under 30,000 when the season still "matters" (Of course the actual crowd will probably be closer to 20,000).
  21. Petards have been hoisted for less...
  22. Right, and if Revere had been WAR-rated as a CF instead of a RF, he already would have had WARs at the age of 24 comparable to Pierre's top WAR ratings at the ages of 26 and 27. Now firmly in CF, he should top Pierre's cumulative career WAR totals easily.
  23. Somehow, I think that JJ is going to priced more like Godiva or Pierre Marcolini than Laffy Taffy. When you think Laffy Taffy, think Terry Tiffee.
  24. Under this scenario, you can start saying "Hello" to articles linked to "anonymous sources" relating talk about the Charlotte/Nashville/San Antonio/Portland Twins
  25. Yeah, it all sounds like a mouthwateringly-good scenario to the average mid-size franchise GM, but why do I feel like Terry Ryan, as the veritable Kid-in-the-Candy-Store, will leave said establishment with only Sourballs and Laffy Taffy?
