One of the most massive disappointments of 2021 has been Alex Colome. A proven veteran who’s been a consistently good pitcher for years, brought in by the Twins hoping to add some stability to that BP. Instead Colome took a job as the team chef, and he served up some of the best tasting meatballs you’ll ever try. They were so tasty that they were spread all over the AL for other teams to try, and it didn’t disappoint. I wonder why he took this route… On a more serious note though, Colome has been a total disaster. Wanna see evidence? Well here, take a look: The results of 2021 compared to other years for Colóme speak for themselves. There’s no reason to analyze them, if it could be said it has been. Instead, let’s take a look at specifically the kind of pitcher Colóme is. Specifically, the kind of pitcher he is in 2021 in comparison to the kind of pitcher he was in 2020. So let’s take a look: The first thing that pops out to me is that, in 2020 and 2021, he only has two pitches. But he’s had mostly two pitches throughout the last five years. He has had a changeup a couple of years, but he threw it less then 5% of the time (fourth number = %). If you ignore the changeup, he’s mostly been the same over the last five years: A cutter that averages about 90 MPH that he throws 65-70% of the time A 4-Seamer that averages about 94 MPH that he throws about 30% of the time. The thing that sticks out to me most about those statistics is in 2021, he threw his 4-Seamer more than in previous years. Let’s look at another piece: If you look at his cutter, the Inches of Drop has hung around 26-27 vertically, and horizontally it’s been all over the place. But in 2020, it was about 4 (which is quite a bit higher than any other year of his career). Yet the results (his stats) are absolutely awful this year. I know there’s probably more to look at here but when I look at his pitch arsenal I don’t see why it would lead to such a dramatic dropoff. On an unrelated note, why do I want to eat Italian food all of a sudden…

Why not start Surratt over Vigil? Surratt looked great against IND.

Browning isn’t going to cut it. Mond will need time. As for the OL, the performances from Cleveland, Davis, O’Neill, Mason Cole, Udoh have been surprisingly good. Still need to see more from Bradbury. QB Play has been absolutely awful this preseason and it’s why they’re 0-2.

I’m concerned about the playcalling. It can’t be anything like this during the season or this offense will be hot trash. On another note, Rashod Hill showed why he’s a career backup.

They need to call a mound visit.

I find it hilarious that some are actually mad at the playcalling for this game. Sure, run your best plays in the Preseason with your 2’s and 3’s to win a meaningless game and the rest of the league can watch and figure them out.

For a second I thought that this was Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy.

I saw someone make the argument that he’s risking his health by playing for Zimmer, and playing behind that OL.

It sickens me seeing all of these people in other forums defending Cousins. *How many QBs turn in Pro Bowl performances behind Bottom 5 Offensive Lines?* *Cousins was crazy to sign an extension here* *If Cousins could go to a team who prioritizes Pass Protection maybe he could win a Super Bowl* *Fire these Clowns (Zimmer and Spielman)* If he’s getting lauded for doing his “best” to elevate the team with his performance, why isn’t he being roundly criticized for voluntarily putting his entire team at risk? Schoop would be nice to have, but he didn't really have a position in the starting lineup if they were viewing Arraez as a starter. If I was Schoop and I could pick between starting everyday for DET or being a backup for MIN, I'd take DET in a heartbeat. Cron would not be helping this team at all. He was awful in DET last year, and is posting a 110 OPS+ (For Coors that's average at best) this year. The Twins were never going to sign him and for, at the time, good reasons. Plus, once again, he wouldn't have a spot in the starting lineup on this team. Wade and Baddoo I can't argue with. Rosario? That's who we're making the argument for? There's a reason all 30 GMs in the MLB agreed that he wasn't worth his $10M price tag that the Twins would've had to pay by rule. He's (had) a decent bat, but he was bad defensively and ATROCIOUS on the bases. I think he has a Low Baseball IQ. And Corner Outfield was by far the place where the farm was most loaded, they weren't going to block Kirilloff with him. Littell I agree with. Romo is a washed up 38-yard junkballer who belongs on a team like Arizona. Gibson was hurt and horrid at the end of 2019 for the Twins. At the time I was in favor of letting him go. Trevor May would've been nice to bring back. Also, they probably should've chosen Hill over Happ. Ryne Harper, fine. Escobar was on an expiring deal and needed to be traded in 2018. Is the argument that they should've resigned him in 2019? Clippard hit the 60-Day IL before the season. The FO pretty clearly knew something we didn't.

Dozier will not start. Udoh has been doing all of the first team snaps and has looked REALLY good. No way in hell he doesn’t win the job.
