  1. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 11m Joe Mauer felt "general soreness" today after playing 9 innings last night for @CRKernels, Gardy said, but Houston return still the hope. "Hope" no longer sounds like "little doubt".
  2. I But, if he had been willing to take on the steroids issue earlier, would many of those "good" things that Chief mentioned have occurred? Would there have been massive increased revenues or labor peace? Was the steroids question (and the future health of players and the teens who looked up to them) as well as the integrity of the game sacrificed to the god of money? I have very mixed feelings about Selig. In the long run, it will take someone further removed from his time of service to assess his legacy with any accuracy.
  3. At a minimum they could do a special dispensation so that the Saturday games could start earlier than 6 p.m. West Coast. Bah, humbug.
  4. Best I could do. Gorillas don't often seem to put themselves in a batting stance.
  5. One less non-promotion for people to b*tch about. Great news.
  6. So we get 20 thoughts today (or is it only 19) -- math was never my strong subject. Now you are a couple of days ahead, RB!!
  7. I'm not sure Brian is prepared to tell us 10 things in one night.
  8. Wow, I was a little surprised to read this. I'd been following Hicks' numbers and knew that he had a great month (especially the period right before his promotion). Happy for him and hope to see him be able to translate it to AAA starting tonight. (I figure Tuesday night was a write off since no one on the Red Wings did well against Axelrod although Hicks did get his usual walk.)
  9. Another interesting article on the search: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/07/sports/baseball/tom-werner-emerges-to-create-a-race-for-baseball-commissioner.html?smid=tw-share&_r=1 Sounds like this could be interesting.
  10. Wednesday's child was full of woe....
  11. Wow - what a route to that catch.
  12. Thanks! Fun read.
  13. Hey chief, go back to bed.
  14. Well duh..... that tells you how much I look at footers. So are you saying we'll be seeing new features in 2 weeks or some new announcement in your life or the life of TD??? Now you've caught my curiosity!
  15. Brock, In thinking about some of the comments on this thread, I wonder if it might not be helpful to have a new thread where people talk about how they access/use TD. For example, I was surprised when I read twinssouth's comment just above me about the usefulness of the old home page. I use TD almost exclusively from my laptop. For both the old site and the new site, I have the main page as my home page on Chrome but in all honesty, I bet I don't spend 15 seconds a day on the main page. I almost immediately click on the "Forums" tab (I should just change my home page). I use the forums tab as my "organizer". By keeping it clean (i.e. by marking threads/forums read), I can immediately see if there is something new on a forum -- and that's where I jump in. I love that the mods are posting the articles right into the threads and I rarely look down the articles list. When I'm in a forum, I do glance down at the blogs list to see if there are new entries and will occasionally click on the blogs tab. I didn't even realize there was a "schedule tab" until I looked just now. The one thing that disappoints me is that I can't get to Jeremy's fine work from the forums tab - I have to go to the main page. Anyway, that's how I use TD -- and keeping those forums marked "read" so I can just jump to the new is important to me. I like the new design -- just wondering if others need to make some adjustments in how they access items on the site. Edit: I composed this before I saw the most recent dialogue with twinssouth.
  16. is it really the same, though? There seems to be something significantly different about 2nd and 3rd times through the line-up from the 1st. Unless you're thinking of him as a reliever, it seems to me that he really wouldn't get "the experience" from short starts.
  17. Jon Heyman at CBS has an interesting story on this: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24649580/bud-selig-and-jerry-reinsdorf-at-odd-over-upcoming-commissioner-vote Hard to know if this is just a bit of a "tempest in a teapot" and if Manfred will win easily or if Reinsdorf is planning some type of upset. With Reinsdorf, I'd never take any kind of bets. It will be interesting to see how it all develops.
  18. I'd loved that album. Another one I wore out from my college days.
  19. Well, Cedar Rapids is rated the #30 most liveable city for 2014 http://livability.com/top-100-best-places-to-live/21-40 St. Paul is #67 http://livability.com/top-100-best-places-to-live/61-80 and Minneapolis doesn't come into the Top 100. It all depends on your age and what you're looking for.
  20. MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred, MLB vice president of business Tim Bronson and Red Sox chairman Tom Werner are the candidates, according to Nightengale. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/committee-names-three-finalists-for-next-mlb-commissioner.html Kind of interesting -- appear to be 2 from within the current structure and one a bit more of an outsider. But I really don't know enough about any of them to comment.
  21. Exciting news, JC! Looks like you're going to be able to provide great "future Twins" coverage into your retirement (or almost).
