  1. Especially since I think he may have another "plate appearances" financial incentive to reach.
  2. I'm thinking of it as a "random act of kindness" by FSN.
  3. 1. Unless you do a detailed comparison with other systems, it is hard to say if the Twins are "snake-bitten". 2. Need a detailed analysis of training methods. 3. As much as I was appalled by the way Houston handled the draft, I did take one thing away from it. The Astros (and other teams) are using advanced analysis to predict possible future medical issues -- how much are the Twins doing on this front? I'm tired of the whining about injuries. Poor me, poor me. I want to know what the Twins are DOING about it because I don't buy purely "bad luck".
  4. It struck me as I was reading the "Wake Me Up When September Ends" thread that I have watched so much BAD baseball the last 3+ years, that I'm not sure I even recognize the degrees of bad-mediocrity-good anymore. Are we so inured to watching a bad rotation that even a mediocre one now appears that it will be good to us? That is kind of the feeling I get from some of the posts here. The same thing with line-ups: are we now just thankful for mediocre? I know the Twins probably have to move from bad to mediocre before they can become good ... but I hope we don't lose track of how to "get good" -- it iw with good players (and I would argue new management but that's a topic for another thread). That is where the advanced metrics seem to offer some great help. Although not perfect, they do give a way to generally compare performance levels and potentials. Meanwhile, I think I have to turn the channel and watch some good baseball for awhile.
  5. Neshek seemed pretty thrilled.
  6. I'm watching Kelsey Grammar discover his roots on "Who do you think you are?" For the most part I enjoy this show but geez most of these celebs are ignorant about basic American History.
  7. More like she'll need a trip to spa!
  8. After being the rest of you mods, she has my sympathy.
  9. What do you have planned after your Twins odyseey, Chi? Heading to Florida?
  10. Bollinger: Dozier joins #MNTwins 20/20 club with Larry Hisle (77), Kirby Puckett (86), Marty Cordova (95), Corey Koskie (01), Torii Hunter (02, 04). Some nice company there.
  11. At least there wasn't anyone on base when Nolasco gave up that one.
  12. Dozier becomes a 20/20 man.
  13. Interesting topic and I'm anxious to read what everyone has to say about the Twins routines ... and also their philosophy on bunting. Not to derail this thread but Derek Wetmore had some interesting thoughts on the Santana bunting situation last night in his item #4: http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Wetmore_5_thoughts_on_a_blown_lead_and_a_bad_decision_to_bunt_Santana082014 Manager Ron Gardenhire said after the game that it wasn't a decision to bunt in that spot, but rather "an automatic." "Well, we're losing. We're going to bunt them over and try to get runs in. We've got to get back in the ballgame. That's what you have to do. Danny has to be able to do those things. You want to play in this league, you're a leadoff hitter -- he can hit a home run, yes, and he's hitting .320, yes, but he's got to be able to bunt. "He might bunt and get a base hit. So there is no decision there, that's an automatic, we're bunting him over with Danny Santana. He's got to do that to be able to stay and be a great player like we think he's going to be. And he knows that more than anybody, he's got to do that. That's the job that he's supposed to do." I'll admit that I was only 1/2 paying attention to the game at that point. What does everyone think? Was it an "automatic"?
  14. Only 27 losses to go.
  15. That would probably cure my cravings.
  16. But every time I see it, I want a McD's french fry..... and giving that the closest McD is 17 miles away, it isn't happening. Distance is a great preservative from fast food.
  17. They;re just little kids.
  18. Wonder if Chief has been near the flooding.
  19. It's "ma'am" or "ms" It's been a frustrating few days. The MS answer desk was absolutely no help on Saturday. Amazing how much more helpful they got by Monday when they realized that a lot of people had problems.
  20. Wish the interest rate was higher.
  21. Remind me not to get near you when you are frustrated!
  22. I know, Brock and many of us really appreciate all you do to keep the site up-to-date and working smoothly. It's just sometimes hard to appreciate it when you run into problems. (I've been swearing at Microsoft up and down since Friday when their newest release made everything crash on my computer. I finally have things mostly like I had it but all the little tweaks and preferences I had are still gone. It's hard to be rational about computer problems. sometimes even site changes).
  23. Some people did seem to have a rough few days. Change is hard.
  24. Okay, I sent both Gibby and hawkiconk PMs to say we missed them in chat.
  25. Um, Gibby was having real problems with the redesign. Here's his last post: 30 July 2014 - 07:22 PM I gotta say, this is one clumsy assed reboot of a website. All this stupid **** is supposed to be fixed in the first day or so. And the ones before that were also about problems. Maybe someone should PM him.
