    Why would he suddenly start hitting .180? I get it, he is having a career year, but it's not all based on luck, he is on pace for 35 doubles this year, doubles aren't the result of luck.

    no it wouldn't, it would be several levels of ineptitude. The Twins literally have zero use for a guy like Fuld the rest of the year. They would be better served trading Willingham for a PTBNL

    How can you even say that this early at this point? If May/Meyer prove effective this Aug/Sept then I believe the Twins will absolutely give them a shot to win a spot out of spring training. However, is it prudent to "pencil" both of them in for 2015 at this time? Heck no!

    Yeah, I am thinking that is a possibility, and honestly I could see Pelfrey actually becoming a pretty good option in the pen.

    If anything I think the Twins have ruled out Pelfrey as he is a super question mark coming back. I think you might be reading too much into the Nolasco theory, The Twins traded a 4th OF, chances are Milone was by far the best they would get back in trade for him. Also, if Milone pitches solid the rest of the year for the Twins there is nothing that prevents them from potentially trading him during the off-season (likely getting something better than a 4th OF in return)

    You are forgetting about Nolasco, who while isn't an ace has a pretty long track record that indicates that he will ultimately be "fine" for this team. Pelfrey is another wild card who could come back and be decent, however I would put that at about 20% while I would put the odds of Nolasco coming back eventually (late this year or 2015) and being at least "average" at 80%

    Yeah, I mentioned the other day that they shouldn't really be targeting any back of the rotation types (i.e. Another Correia, Pelfrey etc) this just cinches it that they will likely stand pat in free agency this year and won't bring in a "crafty veteran" Heading into 2015 it appears the Twins could actually have some nice pitching depth. If they end up with too many quality guys for the 5 spots you can always turn around and trade one of those guys for help elsewhere. The best thing in the world for this team would be for Nolasco to come back strong and pitch like he has in the past.

    If Hughes/Meyer/Gibson/May/Milone all prove effective and healthy next year, then that is a very very very good problem to have!

    I haven't seen Milone pitch a bunch but if you havea 3.84 ERA in 78 starts in the majors you must be doing something right. Apparently he more or less forced the A's to trade him after he was sent to the minors (with a 3.55 ERA) hopefully he comes to the Twins hungry to prove that he deserves to be in a MLB rotation all year long. I wouldn't worry about May/Meyer in re: to this, the Twins could trade KC today and also Pino/Johnson/etc could always be sent down.

    Wow, that is a fantastic trade for the Twins. Fuld was nice and all, but we can grab him or someone like him on the FA market this off-season.

    He said he would be willing to resign in Boston, however he already turned down a few deals they offered him (which were reportedly only like 70 mil) The word is the Red Sox don't want to give a 5/6 year deal to a 30 year old pitcher...if the Red Sox change that stance I could see him coming back to Boston, but you just KNOW that a team like the Yankees, Dodgers etc will overpay for him this off-season.

    22% not to mention the fact that Meyer had thrown several poor starts pretty much in a row in the early and middle parts of June.

    This "The Twins never bring up prospects" meme in every single thread is getting a bit tiresome to be honest as it's not exactly true. May would have been up by this point if it wasn't for an injury, you don't just bring a guy back from the DL and immediately throw him in the majors for the first time. Meyer is going to be up very, very soon and will get a nice solid amount of innings at the major league level this year. If Buxton presses the issue at A+ and AA over the next couple of months, I absolutely could see the Twins bringing him up for a cup of coffee in the majors to at least give fans a reason to get excited about some likely meaningless Sept baseball games. On another note, I am very excited to see Mauer play again, I hope he can end the season on a positive note and ultimately the Twins can find a way to win at least 75-78 games. I think the goal is to play .500 ball from here on out which puts them right at 76/77 wins.
