  1. Also, where do you guys get your wild news? I think Russo is absolutely great and I get a lot from him, hockeywilderness is a great site that goes a bit into the advanced metrics etc while note going overboard, and I find the rubechat Wild Chat board to actually be halfway decent and not the cesspool that twins and Vikings chat is. Do you guys have any good sites to read/chat the Wild?
  2. I always assumed the fox sports girls were more or less glorified interns. Right or wrong brands, teams, companies have been using "cute girls" to help sell their product for generations. Is it 100% right? Probably not, but it's hard to get really worked up over it. If a girl wants to try to make a living off her looks or what not, I say more power to her. It's not what I would want my future daughter to "strive for" Nessicary but then again it could be a pretty fun job for someone (regardless of sex) right out of college.
  3. Going to come down to health, there are a few guys like Suter, Keumper, Parise etc that we can't afford to lose for long. However, team looks amazing so far on all four lines and top 4 D. If dumba and Folin develop...watch out! Also I LOVE the Brodin signing, hopefully Granlund and Coyle aren't far behind. Granlund is a future (if not present) all star center and Coyle is gritty as hell. Zuckers play thus far has been super encouraging as well. Looks to be a top 9 guy for sure (top 6 on most teams) Nice change of pace from the other Minnesota sports teams!
  4. Disagree 100% he is a huge baseball fan and very knowledgeable.
  5. That seems like a terrible business decision all around, if you are already waffling that much, then just get rid of him after 2013. To give him 2 years after last year heading into what was very very very much another obvious rebuilding year, then ditching him after one season? That reeks of the Pohlads suddenly deciding "oh hey, let's make a change to bring the fans back!" Letting Gardy go at the end of last year made sense (even though I did want him back last year) after this year? Not so much. If you really weren't sure you wanted him past 2014, then you shouldn't have guaranteed him a healthy paycheck for 2015.
  6. The fact that he basically has said that Ryan is the GM for life indicates enough to me that at the very least you have to take everything Pohlad say with a grain of salt. Don't forget this is the same family that actively tried to sell the Twins out to contraction til the bitter end. It's all about $$$$$ with these jokes of owners. Ryan was clearly upset today and had done nothing but support Gardy and his job in the recent and longer past. Again, why give him a 2 year contract, another crappy team and then decide to can him right before all the new wave of players come up? This has Pohlad pressure written all over it.
  7. That's my problem with the Pohlads in this situation, they admidtly aren't baseball/sports fans which is fine, if you wanna be like that and be hands off then be hands off! Just don't suddenly decide to force the GM to fire the manager to somehow try to appease the masses or a few vocal season ticket holders or whatever. If you want to create change, actually commit 100% LIsten, I was all about bringing back TR and Gardy. But if you are going to get rid of one, you should get rid of the other and start with a 100% new leadership across the board. What happens if the Twins have another bad year and they decide to can TR? then you have a new GM coming on board not being able to bring on his choice of a manager, or firing a manager after one year. Either give TR and Gardy another year, or get rid of them both. Don't half ass it because you don't know anything about baseball and only care 100% about ticket sales. I guess you can't expect much more then from a family who made their money foreclosing on poor families during the great depression.
  8. I'd love to hear someone tell me ONE name that would have taken these disasters of rotations the past few years and have them even sniff .500 overall. At best a manager can add 3-4 wins at the very tops. Gardy was given AAAA quality teams with AAA quality pitching, he had no shot.
  9. The problem with that rotation is that there is only one guy (Hughes) that projects to be anything close to a resembling a front end of the rotation type next year. Meyer and May? Jury is still out. Nolasco is a mid guy at best and Gibson looks like a 4 or possibly a 3. Sign a top end pitcher and figure out what to do with your mid to back end guys later.
  10. Step one was not cutting payroll several years ago
  11. After the press conference and everything that has occurred it seems fairly obvious to me what happened: The Pohlads, upset that attendance is falling drastically decided to make/force a change. That change was having Ryan fire Gardy (this is after Ryan and the org had done nothing to support him in the past couple weeks/months about him coming back) The scary thing here is that the Pohlads are so freaking out of touch with the fan base and baseball in general they seem to think THIS is what will bring the fans back to the seats. A manager will not put buts back in the ballpark, a winning team is what it will take. Unless the Pohlads magically open up the wallet and allow payroll to get close to 110-115 million it will be apparent that it's just same s*** different day with this ownership group.
  12. If Ryan is going to fire Gardy, he should resign effective immediately. I for one wanted both of them back, but if Ryan is going to make Gardy the scapegoat, he needs to go as well. Blow up the whole thing and start over with a new GM, coaching staff and plan. Good riddance.
  13. Olbermann is 100% right, say what you want about his political thoughts, but this dude is always on point when it comes to MLB.
  14. Bautista would cost at least one of Sano/Buxton
  15. LA has a lot of advantages over Minnesota: Better baseball team. Better weather. Better looking women (this one ain't even close) Nothing to see here.
  16. Betts is going no where, Niese would be nice but the asking price would be pretty damn high. I think their best bet is to try to bring in Kemp or Ethier and give the Dodgers Nolasco.
  17. I think he deserves one more year, the Twins young hitters really took some steps forward this year. I think you bring him back and let Andy go.
  18. Per MLBTR Hughes is very much open to a contract extension. Get it done TR!!!!! 3 more years on top of the next two! 47-52 million should Get it done
  19. Matt Kemp + cash for Nolasco!!!!!!!
  20. This season has been significantly more disappointing then last year because of the "hope" we had with Sano, Buxton, Meyer, Rosario, none of whom came close to the majors. However at least we have a starting lineup that is pretty damn solid, go get a big hitting LF, a stop gap CF and we are somewhat set. The SP has at least 3 pitchers I feel we can count on in 2015 in: Hughes, Gibson and Nolasco (who will turn it around) guys like may, Meyer, milone and others can hopefully fill out the rotation, though I still would like to see them take a run at a solid #2 Or a very good number 3 (think Matt Garza tier) Much more dissapointing season, but the future is looking brighter then it has in 4 years. At least we are showing signs of life in Sept!
  21. The Twins were set at 70.5 wins from Vegas in the O/U for 2014. Today is quite possibly their most important game in the last 4 years. Win (me money) Twins!!!!
  22. I think the wild win one in the next 3 years, that team is rock solid and only getting better. I think the twins get back to competing next year and are in the wild card hunt, 79-85 wins or so. I expect the twins to be a playoff team in 2016 and forward
  23. Nolasco has earned a shot next year for sure, he actually has looked solid this last month.
  24. Class act all the way.
