  1. I don't see where else the GOP makes up the ground, maybe a few percentage points with the Hispanic vote with Rubio? But I doubt it will be enough to make a huge dent. Whites with college degrees? Might skew closer to the middle now, more than previously (especially in regards to female voters)
  2. The problem is though, the Tea Party/Trumps/Carsons of the world are attracting a decent sized chunk of the GOP.
  3. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-swing-the-election/ Assuming the rest stay the exact same. Basically you would need non educated whites to go from 59% turnout to 85% turnout in order to win the presidential election for the GOP.
  4. Getting Ohio and Pennsylvania to flip would be very major.
  5. Hence why I said the GOP are the ones who need to "change" in order to re hit their base and the folks in the middle. If Trump runs independent the Dems could win by an unfathomable margin.
  6. Something very major would have to happen for them to take enough swing states to win the election, Rubio isn't moderate enough to get the "middle ground" voters, especially any self respecting female voter.
  7. Oh I agree, they certainly hit their pockets (rural areas), but for them to actually get another president in the white house they have quite the uphill battle ahead of them. Frankly, I think the way congress is put together as a whole is a joke, why NY gets as many senators as Wyoming is just so freaking stupid.
  8. Did I say anything to that effect?
  9. I disagree, the demographics and ethnic make up of this country are changing by the day. In fact, Texas will likely be voting "blue" by 2020, as will some other "red" strongholds, there aren't any current blue strongholds that are in danger of switching (i.e. New York, Cali, Washngton, etc) The GOP are the ones who need to reassess what their party is all about.
  10. Agreed, TR started in 1994 if you put those records in that overall win percentage number drops even more. (note 1994/95 there was the strike, but the win percentage was still poor) 1994: 53 wins (.443 win percentage) 1995: 56 wins (.394) 1996: 78 wins (.481) 1997: 68 wins (.450) 1998: 70 wins (.432) 1999: 63 wins (.394) Those first few years with Ryan as a GM were brutal, he got nobody worthwhile back in the trades he made, and the Travis Lee debacle was a straight up embarrassment that may have also set the franchise back. Also the 17 year thing that MLR is talking about is the Ryan post season wins in 17 seasons as GM. If one is going to count Bill Smith's years as GM in those 17 that's fine, but you should count Ryans 1994-1999 seasons as well to be honest/accurate since Ryan wasn't the GM during the Smith years.
  11. I actually liked how they made me feel sympathetic towards him one episode, and then remind you brutally who he is the next episode (a killer, through and through) Like yeah, it was cool he killed the racists, but he has obviously killed a lot of 100% innocent people along the way as well, so yeah, screw that guy!
  12. They both are pretty similar, you can't play Fan Duel in NY any more so I have been on the draft kings bandwagon. I think both offer similar sign up bonuses, I like the draft kings app, and layout a bit more to be honest. I have a promo code you can use to get the max bonus and some free "entries" to contests and stuff, feel free to pm me for it. Also Draft kings lets you change your lineup later in the day if one of your late games players gets ruled out (i.e. if you would pick a RB who is questionable for the 8pm game and he gets ruled out, you can swap him out with another guy, on fan duel you can't do that)
  13. If Terry Ryan was Santa Claus http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/simpsons/images/c/c1/Leecar.jpg
  14. The Twins find another successful future front office candidate!
  15. "According to my research, the key to a successful bullpen is..........pitch contact?!?! Has Terry been messing with my machine again?" - The Twins Advanced Stats department. http://i.imgur.com/hV5XC20.jpg
  16. Chris Christie, absolutely not. Kasich is the only decent human out of that whole group, of course he doesn't stand a chance.
  17. I don't think so, if the player opts out after 3 or 4 years and doesn't resign with the original team I imagine they are a bit frustrated, but happy that said player played well enough for 3-4 years where he could ultimately go back on the FA market. Does that make sense sorta? Like if the Twinssigned Heyward and it killed it for 4 years the needed a new contract...it would suck kinda, but it would be nice he "played great" those 4 years.
  18. if he is suspended enough games it would push his FA back a year for some reason. But if he does get suspended that means he did in fact do some terrible awful ****, the Twins shouldn't welcome him if that's the case IMHO. It's bad enough we let Peterson back in the Twins cities when we had the perfect chance to trade him to the Cowboys or cut him. I don't mind rooting for flawed athletes, but beating the **** out of women and children is where I draw a hard line. I was all for bringing in chapman last trade deadline and this off season, but with this stuff coming out? Hard pass. I'm not gonna root for him regardless if he wears a twins uniform or not, he is a terrible human who should be in jail.
  19. Using WAR for DH and SP is flawed, Ortiz has 500 HR was top 5 in MVP voting 5 years in a row (with one win), has 9 all star games and lead the Red Sox to 3 titles while posting a .969 ops in postseasons. Ortiz is a near lock to become the first DH in the hall of fame. Who cares about PED's he was never suspended, everyone took them, and he still puts up 35+ bombs a year.
  20. Punto! The thing is, Santana is out of options and I would hate to toss him aside, too much upside, young, had a great 2014 etc Escobar, Dozier, Plouffe/Sano should be playing nearly every day anyways, Santana or Nunez is likely to get maybe 1 start a week at most, and at least with Santana you have a guy who can PR and fill in more places defensively.
  21. But those collective groups make mistakes, (as do us fans) but sometimes those mistakes are called out on at the time by numerous fans (when the Twins released Ortiz for instance several people on the web/message boards called it a mistake) Ditto with trading Hardy for Hooey. Frankly, I don't trust the Twins braintrust enough these days to just give them the benefit of the doubt , there is almost zero turnover in the franchise as a whole (which indicates low accountability as a whole) and the Twins haven't won a title or been to the World Series in 25 seasons. It's not like this is exclusive to baseball either, teams across the board make decisions that look terrible at the time and end up proving terrible (see: everything the Browns have done in the past 7 years or so)
  22. Depends on when they would strike the deal, with Sano I'd like to see them be even more aggressive and approach him with a Longoria type deal (but more money), Buxton would be next, and from there I wouldn't worry too much.
  23. The thing is with opt outs, if one team offers it, other teams will have to as well. It's the reality of the situation these days and is what it is. No way does Heyward sign with the Cubs without the opt out, no way does Grienke sign with the Dodgers the first go around without the opt out etc It's the reality of the situation when you are dealing with elite players still in their primeX
  24. I think Mauer should go back to catcher, amirite?
  25. It's not like they straight up cut him, they did trade him for some folks in return. One could make the same argument about the Twins, they traded their best CF from 2015 away, from a questionable (for now) return as well
