  1. Here is my top 15 after the draft.... 1) Lewis 2) Gordon 3) Romero 4) Enlow 5) Kiriloff 6) Gonsalves 7) Javier 8) Rooker 9) Rortvedt 10) Blackenhorn 11) Diaz 12) Leach 13) Thorpe 14) Jay 15) Granite
  2. I may be in the minority here, but I'd rather look to trade Polanco than Gordon even. I don't know if that is a dumb take, or the dumbest take, but that's just my opinion. Perfect world Polanco and Gordon are their up the middle duo for the next 5-10 years. But I don't know if Dozier is ever going anywhere either. Maybe Gordon is a 3B and Sano moves to 1st in a year or two? That wouldn't be so bad either.
  3. The Twins may never find a trade partner for Dozier with his age, controllable years left and lack of defensive versatility. I do think Ervin may be traded, especially if the Twins are out of it and/or Cleveland starts playing like they are capable of. Won't give him away, but will be open to offers. That said, if the Twins think Gordon is the SS of the future as early as next year, wouldn't Polanco make some team interested? Or would you rather trade Gordon if you are looking to add pitching?
  4. You are right. No argument here.
  5. I can't see the Dodgers trading Buehler for almost anything right now, and White has been pretty amazing at High A so far. Hypothetically if the Dodgers do ask the Twins about Dozier, I would guess those two are off the table (Buehler more so than White, maybe.) I do like your idea about the Diamondbacks. What do you think of Robbie Ray?
  6. I feel like I remember a thread about this deal happening at some point in the not too distant past? Anyone else remember anything like this maybe 3-6 months ago?
  7. I love the idea of Wright, Gore or Greene. I think I am still leaning Wright, but if they can get Gore AND potentially have money to throw at someone to get them to drop (Sam Carlson, where are you?) at 35, that would be an amazing draft too. And Cedar Rapids would be an exciting visit next year too.
  8. I agree, more I was just saying that good teams over the long haul are able to trade good veterans for long term pieces for their club. I'd also prefer to get pitching back for Ervin because the Twins are so void of pitching right now, more it was just a comparison. I don't see the Rockies trading Rodgers though, but maybe Houston or Texas or the Yankees or the Cubs can put together a solid package of prospects.
  9. Just to play devil's advocate; do you think there are cubs fans who are still bemoaning trading Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel for Addison Russell and others? I agree that the Twins shouldn't trade him just to trade him. But if you can make your team better in the long run, you almost have to trade veterans for prospects, right?
  10. David Paulino of the Astros along with another younger player with upside from their system would make sense no? The Astros are going for win-it-all mode this year and next, and Santana certainly (for 2017 and 2018) could be argued as still better than Paulino, their 2nd best pitching prospect at this point.
  11. You say, what does it say to the fanbase to trade your best player when you are in first place? The Twins aren't trading Sano. Or Buxton. Or Kepler. Or Berrios. Or probably Nick Gordon, Stephen Gonsalves, Fernando Romero. They probably aren't trading Jorge Polanco either. That is the core that is going to be built around for 2019 and beyond. For fans to not see that, it almost feels short sighted. That said, if the Twins don't end up getting offers they feel are good for Santana and Dozier, move on and keep them for next year.
  12. My thought is you have to listen, regardless of record in July. If you get a good offer (let's say a pitcher who is ready to be in the rotation either this year or early 2018 and a lower level prospect with good upside) you pull the trigger. On the other hand, if the offers are underwhelming, you move on and keep him. Like others have said, he is affordable and can be around the next two years. Don't give him away, but if you get a good offer you take that every day of the week
  13. From what I understand, the pre-show begins at 6pm Central, with the draft starting with the Twins pick shortly after 7pm. The first round and supplemental 1st round will be shown on mlb network (twins have pick 1 and 35) and then the 2nd round and everything after will flip to just mlb.com (twins have the first pick in the 2nd round, pick 37.) My question; are you planning on watching the draft? If so, where are you planning to watch it? At home? At the Twins game? Out at one of your local establishments? If you are planning on going to a local establishment to watch the draft (which I am thinking sounds like a good idea personally) where are you planning to watch it? Just curious for thoughts here on Twins Daily for local places that may be a good viewing spot for the draft specifically. Not that I don't want to also follow the Twins game that evening (I do) but for the Twins picks I would love to find a place that would have the sound on for their portions of the draft.
  14. This sounds amazing to me! Love it!
  15. I can't see Carlson dropping that far. It'd be nice, as a Twins fan, if he did, but I just can't see it. If he is there at 35 he is the pick, no? Plus, how much money are they saving with Wright to be able to turn Carlson to sign and not go to college?
  16. Does this same line of thinking work for pitching? Mackenzie Gore (2/24/1999) for example would be in the top 10 on this list as far as youngest in the class.
  17. Hunter Greene's ceiling is immensely high, but I haven't seen a scout list him as a generational/can't miss type. If the twins draft him I will be excited because they believe they have a plan in place to help him reach his potential. That said, if they dont take him and instead take someone else (I am holding out hope for Kyle Wright because his ceiling is also that of a top of a rotation starter but his floor is still that of a starting pitcher) I won't be disappointed.
  18. Clarke Schmidt?
  19. Greene hasn't pitched in weeks, so hard to compare. I am leaning Wright anyway, but if the front office believes in any of them, then I will try my best to believe in that player too
  20. I feel like Jeremy has said that twins officials haven't seen Gore this spring. I don't know if that has changed. Jeremy, if the list is 5, who is the 5th along with Greene, Wright, McKay and Lewis? And please don't say Pavin Smith
  21. Agreed, harder to find information. He's been the Friday starter for the year so I was surprised to see that he actually pitched last night. Didn't know that happened until this morning. The velocity back up is encouraging, but man, the walks and absolutely falling into trouble in the 5th inning is not encouraging. 111 pitches just to get through 5? Oof. Who is the player we, twinsdaily forum gatherers, want the Twins to take today? Is it Greene? Wright? McKay? Someone else?
  22. McKay's numbers this year, overall, are outstanding. There are two reasons I am leaning Wright more as of 5/18/17... 1) Wright's last 9 starts are dominant to say the least, while McKay has been more ok during the same time period. 2) McKay's reported drop in velocity over his last 3 starts scares the bejeezus out of me. His last start he was working mostly 88, hitting 90. If he can get back to working 90-94 I am obviously ok with McKay being the pick. I just like Wright's velocity staying strong both throughout the year and throughout his starts.
  23. Love it! If the draft went this way, who would you take at 37? I'd love it to be Clarke Schmidt
