  1. The Twins should trade Billy Bullock for Neshek, and not Wilson Ramos for Hand, whoever that is. I wonder if The Hand uses Game of Thrones for walkup music? If so, I would be inclined to throw in Hu.
  2. Run differential in ten worst losses: Twins -96 Royals -79 Indians -60 Range of worst diff Twins 7 to 11 Royals 5 to 11 Indians 4 to 9 Mode Twins 11 (4 times they've lost by this much, plus another time by 10. And twice by 9. When they lose big, they lose really big.) Royals 6 (they've lost by 11 twice, then 9 twice) Indians 4 (out of their ten worst losses, they only lost by 4 three times, 5 once, and 6 twice. And 7 twice. In other words, they keep it close.) What does this mean, no pun intended? Besides the fact it reveals that my statistical analysis skills are roughly on par with the Twins prior to Jack Goins? I don't know, but if I was a Twins pitcher anywhere from Chattanooga to Minneapolis, I wouldn't be signing a long-term lease.
  3. I feel like there is a pretty good chance the trio will be heard from again this year. This FO seems to have a clear idea of who the prospects are and who is filler; much better than I. Going back to Rosario's cameo, when, at the time, it was either he or Melotakis, it seems they aren't afraid to get that "first time" out of the way for the real deal guys--and then quickly get them back. For Jorge and Rosario, they can (and have) say they KNOW their stuff will play at the top level, but there is still work to do. Doesn't hurt to test out the prototype. I'll leave it to the scientists to decide when they're ready to pull them out of the lab. What I don't expect is for any of these guys to nail down a big league job right away. Curtiss, on the other hand...I'm hopeful he'll be ready to stick when they call him up.
  4. Despite the injuries to Burdi and Jay, there is still legitimate help on the horizon. I'm glad the Twins are still in it.
  5. I wonder how much of a ranking jump Rortveldt can make if he keeps hitting like he has for the last month. Great numbers, young for his level, and a catcher.
  6. Great recap. I thought something had been up with Duffey, but it seems like I'd see a comment disparaging everyone in the bullpen except Rogers, Kintzler and him. But yeah, hope he gets through this rough patch. Vargas just hasn't been that great. He has his moments, just too few. Garver and Park might be more deserving of the next shot. Dang it, Kennys, you seem like you should be a part of this core; the big, goofy DH. Miguel's bodyguard. Come on dude, you are running out of chances.
  7. Reading Molitor's comments, they seemed impressed with his composure and whatnot. I think, though, the idea was for Santana and Berrios to show him how it's done. Whoops. Strike one.
  8. I was hoping it might be Jorge (or Romero). Funny thing-I bookmarked the Twins affiliates scores page. I checked box scores yesterday and was disappointed Jorge had pitched, even though it was a great line. Eventually I realized I was looking at the June 24 box scores. Anyway, good for him and them. No convoluted plan needed-just use the guy already on the roster.
  9. Busenitz and The Hildenberger Principle got off to good starts. I feel like the situation is stabilizing. Taken in isolation, what happened to Belisle last night is a normal deal on every team--I know that isn't fair to do, but I think he and Breslow have long leashes. True or not, along with Gimenez and Castro, they constitute the veteran leadership intangible quotient that seems to be having a positive effect. I.e, Belisle has shown the young guys how to have an absolutely crappy game and still show up the next day.
  10. I don't pretend to understand the psyche of pitchers, but getting nervous, losing command, and getting shelled in their debut, while naked, is probably the worst Peter Brady nightmare of every pitching prospect. I'll leave it to the experts to decide when a guy is ready to live that nightmare and get over it if it happens. Doing it wrong is a huge setback, I think. These guys do seem closer and more viable than they did even a couple three weeks ago when discussing potential draft picks. It's making the Lewis pick look better and better.
  11. Nice. As much as shorter-term pitching help would have been nice, it is fun to have a top young position prospect to follow for a few years. Pretty cool of him to homer in his debut. Javier better watch his back, or the tables will get turned.
  12. Nice play, Sano. Wow. Cleveland was down 9-3 when I checked, kind of nice to see someone else's bullpen implode, even though it put the Twins back in second.
  13. I thought this might be haiku But then I counted Spot on comment nonetheless
  14. Between TD's prospect reports, Bob Sacamento's posts, and the E-town box scores, I feel like there is a new crop of young pitchers I need to learn the names of. Jovani Moran? Check.
  15. 1. The Twins going to Boston recall the lyrics from "Black": "I know one day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, In somebody else's sky why, why can't it be mine?" (sung with soaring Vedder anguish.) 2. That is one brilliantly placed "weird." Pearl Jam also has a song called "Indifference," which could be good fodder for a riff on the Twins run differential, and what it may or may not mean...
  16. I second that "man, this team..." sentiment. There are alot of guys showing some resiliency, Gibson among them. No 4 and 2/3s doesn't look all that great, but he did his job. Gimenez, what can you say. I don't care what the stats say, he's a good dude to have around.
  17. In hindsight, maybe the fact Rosario got that call-up a while back and Melo didn't should have been a harbinger. The writing was being written on the wall. Speaking of that word, maybe that can be Hildenberger's nickname, instead of Trevor Hindenberger. The Trevor (The Harbinger of Doom) Hildenberger.
  18. Only 5 comments so far? Not much to complain about when they win, I guess. Hildenberget seems like he's here to stay...at least he'll get some leash anyway.
  19. To quote the Red Wings announcer, 'Wow." Great day. Good to see Hildenberger with a clean debut, and Curtiss and Reed pick up where he left off. Fun to hear Gonsalves strategery, but maybe he should keep that stuff on the down-low! Trade secrets. Turley has kind of tainted the way I look at gaudy SO numbers, but it was actually really cool to hear how Stephen goes about his craft. Sounds like he has a plan. Thorpe and Ynoa as well. This farm system has a few nice looking SP prospects. I love it when the E-town season starts. Their lineup looks to me like an all-star game lineup. And I didn't even know who Albanese was.
  20. "Another Gimenez". Love it. Kind of like a "Maddox." Only different...
  21. Happy for Hildenberg. Hope he doesn't do anything to deserve an all-too obvious nickname! If they were going to ditch anyone, like Belisle, off the 40 man, they probably would have taken them off the 25 man first.
  22. I guess Enlow waits until the Twins are done scraping sticky quarters out of the backseat cupholders of the ol' minivan? And Rodriguez gets the dimes that didn't get sucked into the vacuum at the drive-up carwash?
  23. Cmon, the Yankees just got swept by Oakland and are 1-6 recently. The Twins just need to keep doing whatever it was they've been doing to get to the point they were three days ago. Salvation lies within...let's see this groups quality here.
