  1. Whether or not playoff success happens this year, and I'll leave that term undefined, these young guys need this. I'm not sure these guys would ever win anything if they rolled over and died. One of my best memories ever is road tripping to the Grand Canyon on the last day of the 2006 season, listening to baseball the whole way. If they can stay in this five-to-seven team race for the next six weeks, it would be more fun than being a Dodger or Astro fan.
  2. Given that the Twins actually have a decent record, it doesn't seem like there have been that many fun wins like this one, where several of the young core all have good games at the same time. Good stuff. Creeping back up the standings...
  3. Yeah, looking at the Red Wings box score with Garver, Vargas, Palka, and Park, and then at the Twins... Nice work Kohl. And Arias has been on fire!
  4. Garcia pitches for a Wild Card rival, though. Was one week enough time to program a sleeper cell? The Yankees still need to be paid back for that suckiness virus they vectored over with Murphy.
  5. I guess I'd eat my words, if Bartolommeo hadn't already. And I'll just leave that fun auto-correct. Say, does Dozier read TD or something? He's still a bum! And I'd still bat Granite lead off, all the way from Rochester. Fantastic write-up, Tom. National outlets should provide a link to this stuff. First class.
  6. Yes, it is good to see Molitor embracing advanced analytics, like subtraction. I am disappointed in this team right now, so I'll pile on: I vigorously defended the FO in the offseason Dozier negotiations, but I am now realizing he is mediocre. His season statline is a mirror of his career numbers right now. This team is desperately missing Breslow's clubhouse leadership. I'd put Granite at lead-off. He may be limited in many ways, but at least he's got moxie.
  7. Nice to see Barnes' cumulative stats. I'd been paying attention to him on a game by game basis, and he seemed to be looking good not great. Seen this way, I can see where I was wrong. It would be cool if Melville could turn into something special. Or just into a good MLB reliever. I like the resilient guys.
  8. Dozier at lead-off feels kind of scholarshippy to me. Considering the vast amount of lineups Molitor has used. But what difference would it make right now? I was half-watching towards the end, and the last I noted, Boshers had two men on with no outs. I guess he worked that out? Well good job fringe bullpen guys, for keeping the run differential down when it absolutely doesn't matter. Now Pythagoras doesn't think they are quite as bad as they really are right now.
  9. Nice run down. As Berrios and Meija learn and grow, I find myself wishing there was a third amigo, or maybe a mate from down under. Or a bro, like May. As this thing continues to go south, I hope they give some young guys a legitimate taste.
  10. And Graterol pitches as well, could be the most interesting of the bunch. Wells looks healthy. That's good...Good start for Felix. That Finkel link was funny. There was an ad for a video game called Dreadnought that came up. Looked like they'd taken the CG from Battlestar Galactica and made it into a game. I got nothing.
  11. Nice list, Seth, and nice comment diehard. While maybe confusing to some, I appreciate these articles because they help me reconcile what I am seeing in boxscores with what I see on prospect lists. It's nice to recognize Rodriguez's accomplishments, and at the same time get the context of who he is (or isn't) prospect wise. I'm heartened to see Badoo, Lewis, and Miranda on here.
  12. I guess I'll ask: why was Derek Rod in Cooperstown? Was dad inducted? Nice job for Enlow, and Lewis, flashing plate discipline and speed. Is that called doubling twice the hard way? The Bermudez Triumvirate got sent down--is it common to make that move? I guess I can see it as beneficial to give those guys a taste of the GCL--and life in the States, and then get them back somewhere a bit more comfortable. I assume they'll be back, or is that it for their dreams?
  13. Strong backs and weak minds can be highly sought after commodities. As a teacher who has had a beef with high stakes testing for kindergarteners, I have reached the conclusion you should start from the ground with children who have raw skills.
  14. Excellent headline(s) for the last two days. You gotta love Erv. For some reason it was really refreshing to see a different lead off hitter. Does Dozier have the record for lead off homers yet? Can we move on from that?
  15. Thanks for providing some context on Leach's outing. Hard to tell from a box score-i was worried he injured himself. I try to imagine my nephew traveling a thousand miles from home and making his professional debut at something. Kids.

  17. I didn't stay up past the fifth inning, and didn't check the score until I'd been awake for two hours. Maybe they felt a collective subconscious lack of rally caps?
  18. Man, selling off expiring assets is one thing, but conceding the rest of the season when only 4.5 games out is lame for the Twins, lame for baseball, and lame for sports.
  19. Yeah, go watch Buxton run around and Sano scorch baseballs. See how strong this young sapling of a team is. I live far from baseball stadiums AND the ocean. As Mark Twain said, live like all your internet friends are watching, you can dance if you want to, and if you are in the west, go.
  20. I like Kintzler. He brought some good mojo to the team. I will be rooting for he and the Nats to knock off the Evil Empire West. The chance to give this team a shot in the arm might have slipped by when the Garcia trade fell through originally. How deflating--we're getting help...no we're not, and the guy hits a grand slam that night. The tailspin started, and after that the mojo was gone. My only hope is that young Byron Skywalker is ready to embrace his destiny.
  21. Sounds a bit like a Tyler we already have in low-A, but you can never have enough spare Tylers.
  22. Deja vu to last night...or last year? Snatching defeat from the jaws of victories is so last year.
  23. Yeah, I'm confused about Barnes and Sammons. I thought they've already started their careers in E-town.
