Yes, it's fair. But thankfully Jenkins hasn't slipped on any offseason ice. Yet. Shelton, get this kid some winter cleats! Sooner or later, the busted-up prospect curse will lift. That's partially why I want the team to collect a million prospects. So fate cant get 'em all.

Me either. I still think that Tigers position player they hauled out to lob pitches a few series back screwed up his timing. He'll get it back.

I'm no talent scout. Not at all. But I think he looks athletic, sharp and that swing looks like it could line gappers all day when it finds the groove.

So then ... it's not a better brand of baseball after all? I see different players, yes. I don't really see different outcomes.

Tom wants to boost the sale price to $4B. That's all. If he can do it through PR, tough talk and cheap beer, he'll do it. His last resort will actually be to improve the developmental staff and the roster. I actually want him to be motivated by money. It may push him to look at this team as a business - a failing business - and start making better business decisions.

He won't have to go without "baseball activities." Of course he'll be training, as will all of the players. He had nothing left to learn in AAA. Holding him back because of a lockout scare would have been borderline criminal. I would hate an organization for doing that to me.

What stress? This team is in a battle with another team for third or fourth place in a weak division. Jenkins will be fine.

The effort isn't any different than last season. It's mostly just a matter of talent and coaching. Culture matters, too, but this team is still leaderless.

Don't most players? I'm not casting a HOF bust for him yet, but I do think there's real talent there.

Not even a Twins crank like myself can hit that level of dissatisfaction. It's okay. He'll likely be alright. Probably even better than alright.

This doesn't mean anything, though. The White Sox don't seem to have created a "losing culture." They seem to have remade themselves into an AL Central contender. Maybe more.

Oof. I mean, I like the optimism, but we have ... what exactly? #1) A guy who completely falls apart in the second half. #2) A guy with a long injury history just returning from season-ending surgery. #3) A promising question mark in Taj Bradley. #4) A sophomore coming off a year with a 1.35+ WHIP and a 4-7 record. #5) A promising question mark in Mick Abel, just returning from season-ending surgery. Who am I missing here? Matthews? He just couldn't make it out of the third inning against the Tigers. Festa? Huge injury concerns. Top 5? Not even remotely close. This staff is not even close to league average this season.

I did a quick search for players that have hit 25 or more homeruns in a full season but accumulated less than 3 WAR. It's not a huge list, but there are some great names on it. Poor defense and low OBP are the main culprits. The Twins could use a big bopper, but if '27 sputters, it might be wise to try to trade Kody. He's had some great moments here, though. I appreciate what he's done.

Sooner or later, the lack of elite talent becomes an issue for a team trying to compete. Even a team trying to compete in the AL Central. It's been clear for awhile that the Twins don't have elite talent on the roster. Free agency doesn't always help - even a splash signing like Correa wasn't an elite talent by the time he arrived. Smart trades and high draft positions are really the only options, and the Twins cut off both of those options last offseason. It's possible that Jenkins, Culpepper and Lackey will be elite, but I don't see anything in terms of pitching that would suggest a dominant rotation or bullpen. The plan for 2027 is hope - the same plan the Twins have unsuccessfully rolled out for years.

Imagine you're an MLB catcher - probably the most physically demanding position in all MLB. You're a free agent. Do you accept $23M for a one year deal with a team that has won nothing OR do you accept $60+M in guaranteed money from a team that has a real ability to make a dent in the postseason? Jeffers isn't even going to consider the QO for a millisecond.

This is the part that I don't think has sunk in yet. In two years, Jenkins might be good. Culpepper might be good. Lackey might even be good. Who's going to pitch? The pipeline of pitching prospects never materialized here. Even the most promising arms - Abel and Bradley - are from outside the organization. And both of them are still question marks. The Twins absolutely needed to restock their system with high-upside value and they absolutely needed a year to parse through their players on the fringes on the majors. They did neither. In fact, they made both situations worse. Free agents have a role to play, but there's still a costly hit-or-miss aspect to signing top free agents. The misses are costly on a low-payroll team, and even if there's a salary floor in the future there will still be low-payroll teams and the Twins will certainly be one of them. There is a pathway to win in 2027, but it requires a ton of good luck and a sizeable payroll boost. In other words, two things the Twins never seem to get. And if they don't make it in '27, they'll be forced to begin a rebuild during the prime years of their young stars. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The Twins have about as much chance of getting something valuable for Lewis as the Vikings have for getting something valuable for J.J. McCarthy. You have to rehabilitate a bust, or you have to cut bait. Few teams are dumb enough to trade based on prospect hype.

This year alone is proof that that option is not always possible. It's not a terrible idea to sign Jeffers, you're right, but it will not happen. With their lowly revenue, the Twins aren't going to outbid any team for anyone.
