    It wouldn't surprise me if Boushley got some starts for the Twins. He's put up pretty good numbers in the minors.

    Five wins in the next seven (against 3-21 WSox and 10-15 Angels) would lift the Twins to .500. They will face a bunch of left handed pitching (two of three starters for the Angels and Crochet again for the Sox) so the right handed platoon will be called on. Margot, Santana and Farmer will have opportunities to break out of it. Less play for Larnach and Kirilloff for sure and it wouldn't surprise me if Kepler and Julien get a start or two vs. a lefty.

    Baldelli and the coaching staff have seen these players more than anyone. I think it is very significant that Austin Martin is the center fielder when Buxton isn't out there and that Willi Castro is the shortstop with Correa out. IIRC, the sole reason for Martin's negative ratings as a defender come from his first start in center on Easter Sunday. Balls evaded him in front, behind and to the sides as the Royals mashed Bailey Ober. If Margot has lost two feet of sprint speed in one year, he goes from a plus defender to average. His hitting hasn't been good enough to get a regular job ever and if he's only an average fielder, it would appear he never will. Finally, if the Twins thought Martin was superior to Margot in center and that Willi Castro was their best option to back up Correa, why bring back Farmer and acquire Margot?

    Talking about disappointing veterans would have to start with Farmer and Santana. Farmer and Santana would both have to have over 100 at-bats at their lifetime average to get to the Mendoza Line for the season.

    Lots of struggling hitters in the Twins' lineup. Here's how they've done today; Castro 2-4 HR & 2B, Vázquez 3-4, Margot 2-5 2B. Now the bad news: Farmer 0-4 (3 Ks & GDP), Santana 0-4, 1 BB

    Yeah, most hitters are off to a bad start, but some will rebound. Tough to get a competitive lineup out there when so many are below the Mendoza Line.

    Every position player is going to play at least as the short side of a platoon. We haven’t seen many lefty starters lately so it figures we will see all the right handed hitters.

    López was off yesterday. He couldn't throw anything for a strike except the fastball and he didn't get the chases he usually gets. The drop in velocity might just be a blip, but until he's back on the mound, I'll have some concern. Kirilloff has tailed off after a really good start and the four Ks were concerning, but he got the big hit. I would like to see him go on another tear and get the BA back to .300 and the OPS back over .900. He hasn't hit an opposite field homer yet this year and he's pulled most everything. Has there been a change in his approach?

    Or he could lose the DH and put Kirilloff at first. I think in one of the recent telecasts, Provus quoted Rocco as saying that Martin would be an option at third, but behind Farmer, Miranda and Castro. If Martin isn't trying to steal a base, I think it is defensible to not pinch run until Smooth got to third base. Third base with one out would likely have the contact play on for ground balls and the extra step or two that Martin might provide could be the difference between out and safe. Pretty much the same thing on a fly ball and with the second out being recorded, sending the runner on a 50-50 play or less is likely.

    You have your batting order out of whack. Castro was hitting sixth, followed by Santana, Farmer and Vázquez (aka Mirderer’s Row).

    Castro through Vázquez are 28-199 with 2 homers and 11 RBI. I'm pretty certain there are pitchers who could do better.

    Ump flat out missed the last call. He had defined his strike zone as the box and was consistent ......until the last pitch of the top of the first.

    Top four of the Twins' lineup are left handed hitters, followed by Buxton and then two switch hitters. Do the White Sox have any lefties available in their bullpen?

    Larnach and Wallner were both born in the same year. It’s not like one guy is 22 and the other in his mid-thirties.
