  1. Speaking of rotten ownership, I remember when Carl Pohlad saved us from Calvin Griffith in 1984. After 2 World Series titles, I hoped that feeling would last forever. Well, it hasn’t. But don’t tell me about having no hope for the future if you don’t remember the 70s and early 80s Twins. People are saying they don’t care about this team, and yet dozens of comments appear after stories like this. Would you rather truly have no hope, or would you prefer a team that has obvious talent but can’t seem to get their poop in a group? Frustrated? Sure. Absolutely hopeless? Not me.
  2. Honestly, the way this year has gone, I see them winning too many games and sliding back to 10th worst. in unrelated news, the Pohlads will announce the hiring of the esteemed PR firm Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe to help them better relate to their fan base.
  3. An emotional go bag is the thing I never knew I needed. Thanks Cody!
  4. Thanks for writing a more family-friendly version of what many of us feel.
  5. In the aggregate, too much was taken from the active roster. What is Buxton thinking right now? What about all the starters? The first time Sands comes into a game to hold a 2-1 lead, I think I’ll just turn the TV off and go to bed.
  6. I was hoping for more major league-ready bats, but here we are. We’ll see how well the youngsters play, and I will prepare myself for an underwhelming ‘26 and ‘27. Maybe ‘28. Not sure how I feel about the lane that was picked.
  7. I’m struggling to name anyone left in the Twins bullpen. Is Funderburk the closer now?
  8. I saw Happy Gilmore 2 last night, which has added a number of colorful expressions to my already expansive list when I play golf. Don’t make me use them on my beloved Twins. No means no.
  9. I don’t understand why Keirsey is on the roster over Martin. I know the base stealing and a few innings of superior outfield defense part, but his bat is way under par. Maybe the 26th man role doesn’t mean as much when you’re not on track for the playoffs.
  10. If I follow the thought experiment part, then we would have to assume that SWR, Festa, and Zebby all stick in the rotation and that we would also trade Larnach or Wallner and not te-sign Bader. Feels like several leaps of faith, including Ryan not winning the Cy Young in the next couple of years. i also think we have a pretty sweet OF pipeline. If we’re going to swing big, would we be looking for a catcher?
  11. Saw Candalerio and wondered the same thing, except he hasn’t been hitting either. Also, not sure if he can pitch as much as Bride has, and just writing this makes me want to go lay down.
  12. No, should have added context… I had such hope for this year. Where I had hoped to be at this juncture (looking for a roster need for a playoff run) versus where we are (picking up someone “to fill the AAA rotation” because we’re burning through starters and we actually might need to run him out for a few starts in the bigs) has been exhausting. Are we that bad? Are we mismanaged? Are we cursed? At any rate, that is the future I weep for. The one where Byron Buxton becomes Mike Trout…a glorious player who doesn’t see the playoffs.
  13. Jonah Bride has thrown more pitches than anyone else in the bullpen in the last 5 days. If someone could give me a silver lining to that, I would appreciate it.
  14. Replacing Pablo with Festa will create additional strain on the bullpen while he is out. Subtracting Duran creates less space for error, unless the bat returned in a trade gooses the entire offense. Not sure who that would be, though.
  15. Honestly, it’s like no one has seen “Major League”. Put some Ricky Vaughn-esque glasses on Festa and let’s go!
  16. Raise your hand if you thought Buxton would start in CF for 10 games in a row at some point this year. I surely did not, especially to start the year when every game is cold. I appreciate reading about the metrics and the positive signs, but faith is hard to quantify. I believe he’ll be leading the team in home runs by the end of April.
  17. If any of Buxton/Wallner/Larnach/Bader gets hurt, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Keirsey get the call instead of Martin. Or to see one of them get traded if Rodriguez looks healthy.
  18. Nick, any rumors about trading some of our young hitters for Locutus? We could use a real clubhouse presence like that.
  19. With 6 pitches, will his catcher need both hands to call pitches?
  20. I would go with letting our young players who have had some success have a crack at a full-time spot rather than some fringe roster vet who hasn’t shown much.
  21. Seems like he’ll join Severino, Keirsey and McCusker as guys who won’t get a real shot in a Twins uniform. I’m sure there are teams out there who they will have a chance with.
  22. Castro was more Rocco’s MVP than anyone else’s. He was the Swiss Army knife who looked so good for 3 months, that he kept appearing in the lineup even when his performance tailed off. Nick Gordon had one good season, too. Al Newman had a couple. But these guys will be his compares, not somebody like Ben Zobrist. Castro is a nice piece on a playoff team, but he shouldn’t be a centerpiece.
  23. I’ll take the over since no one has gotten hurt yet.
