  1. Then you reeeeeally need to click that Onion link I provided.
  2. I am confident you will view the movie in a new light if you first watch the Onion Film Standard's review of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nkboMqYhSA
  3. I'm more confused than clarified. Rowson seems to simply contradict what Buxton stated. “Putting it on the ground more to get it out of the air." Buxton restated that intent at least a couple different ways in that paragraph."No, the goal is not to hit balls on the ground. The goal is going to be to use the whole field and hit balls hard.” Rowson said that a couple of different ways too.
  4. It's odd that I don't recall ever seeing Byron Buxton interviewed before. He's super poised in this one. Not fidgety like a lot of athletes are.
  5. Felix is slated for another start in Minnesota, tonight against the Orioles. The front office is really working that 40-man roster.
  6. I am moving this thread from Adopt-a-Prospect to the Minor League forum. If you want to adopt either or both of these players, and keep us all informed for the rest of their short seasons on questions like the ones you raised, please feel free to do so.
  7. Some antenna out in the middle of nowhere 40 miles from Fargo. It's a Fargo must-see, or so the guidebooks told us at the time.
  8. I am embarrassed that I thought Dozier took a step toward the runner coming in from first, and was thus the goat. The video shows he did the right thing all the way. The run's on Castro, though it looks like it should have been possible to make the play some way or another. Two mediocre arms adding up to a split second too slow?
  9. Mrs Ash and I spent pretty much our last weekend of freedom (i.e., she was about 8 months pregnant for our first child) on a spur of the moment vacation in Fargo, and we loved it. Delicious locally grown steaks on the menu, and the Red River is a lot of fun for canoeing. Very pleasant town. Plus a short drive into the prairie brought us to the tallest man-made structure in North America, or so it was claimed. I liked the place so much, I have never gone back!
  10. Reno had an independent-league team called the Chukars (pronounced chucker) between their single-A Silver Sox and AAA Aces eras. The team mascot had a Chief-worthy groaner of a name: Chubby Chukar.
  11. No chicken tonight. In honor one snippet of the soccer discussion: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/sanfordandson/images/4/43/Turkey_dinner.jpg
  12. Dozier tried to tie it up there on one-and-one.
  13. I was taught in Logic class that All men are mortalSocrates is a manTherefore, all tautologies are tautologies
  14. Close enough for ignorant apathetic government work.
  15. What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
  16. Would that allow us to also take the lead?
  17. Surely you can't be seri-.... oh, I see what you did there. / and I'll stop calling you Shirley
  18. Sure, no question, that one was a tough play for anyone. He's about the last I would expect to succeed on that one, is what I really meant.
  19. They also locate bedrooms for rent so the players have somewhere to sleep. Just ask Madre Dos. (Where has she been lately, anyway?)
  20. Whenever we play either club, I want to beat the Stuffing out of them.
  21. The park for Charlotte that I saw 20+ years ago was situated in a suburb near the state line. They built a new one, essentially giving up on a MLB franchise?
  22. They didn't have official relegation, but back in the 19th century the National League and related leagues almost operated that way. The American League basically promoted itself en masse in 1901.
  23. Remember to offer a hat-tip to the signing scout.
  24. Aim for Red Wing, hit Hudson, then.
  25. I attended a Brooklyn Cyclones game last weekend. The park is set up appropriately for a short-A league, but is easily expandable if a third MLB team is ever slated for NYC.
