Ho hum - another start, another Twins Daily Minor League Pitcher of the Day award. Aaron Slegers struck out as many men as the 7 innings he pitched, in a 7-1 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday night. He retired the first 9 batters he faced, and faced only the minimum through 5 innings thanks to a double play in the fourth. Three singles in the sixth plated a run. Then the seventh was easy again, with only a harmless one-out walk. By that point, his pitch count was up to 103, and evidently prudence dictated that his work for the night was finished. So, his final line of 4 hits and 1 walk looks mighty fine. His season ERA now stands at 3.35, and he leads the International League in victories with 11. Aaron seems well on his way to earning a September callup, at a minimum.
