  1. Google is persnickety like that. My search for "hottest twins" failed to reveal who had even a decent batting average, despite my devoting several hours of intensive study to the results the search returned.
  2. If you do a google image search for Twins Daily After Dark, make certain not to accidentally omit "Daily", or I can't vouch for what might be returned.
  3. He hasn't quite reached Fu Manchu, and remains stuck at porn star 'stache.
  4. Mind. Blown. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/tim-and-eric-mind-blown.gif
  5. How in the heck did Polanco get anything at all on the ball?
  6. "I wish I had your powers of prognostication, kid."
  7. Is it just me, or is anyone else enjoying watching Buxton lately?
  8. Frontrunners. Every last one of them. Every. Last. One.
  9. Why did the chicken enter the wormhole?
  10. "Could show something" is for last place teams. Let the starters with minor-league options kick the door open with great AAA performance. Show the others the door or keep them in the bullpen, if they don't look like an innings-eating option to fill out the rotation.
  11. No disagreement about finding top-shelf pitching. But Colon's surely finally reached the stage of his career where no one else will offer a multi-year deal. In which case, there's no such thing as a bad one-year contract, right? If he agreed to $7m, just to throw a number out there, and he holds down a rotation spot until such time as 5 guys are better, I don't see the harm. At which point try to trade him, or just flush the remainder of the contract if need be. Of course, not if that $7m stands in the way of getting someone better. But I'm in the camp that they should be spending a ton more on older talent during this phase of the rebuild, given all the young cheap talent they currently have. To run a franchise properly, you have to take enough risks that once in a while you flush $7m.
  12. I have been to Chisago City. Had a friend who made the commute from there to the Twin Cities every day - oy.
  13. My main takeaway from the list is that hitting double digit homers in your first season isn't too indicative.
  14. Felix had a stinker of a game on August 28 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Five runs on 7 hits (3 of them homers) in just 4 innings of work. Just two strikeouts among the 18 batters he faced. His 61 pitches were the fewest he's thrown this season. Hopefully the big club's internal scouts were catching a nap last night and missed it.
  15. Mod note: Folks, someone introduced an irrelevant reference to Berrios, which drew some responses. I've removed these posts. Please stay on topic. If you want to talk in depth about a different player, start a new thread.
  16. Aaron started shaky but finished strong, picking up the decision in a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Bisons to run his AAA season record to 14-4. He gave up single runs in the first, second, and fourth innings, but he hung tough and made it through 8 innings before hitting the 100-pitch mark. In the innings they didn't score, the Bisons went 1-2-3. On the offensive side, the Red Wings benefited from a Little League Home Run by Daniel Palka to finally take the lead in the seventh inning. With 10 strikeouts to go with only 5 hits (and no walks), Slegers's pitching line was actually quite nice looking by game's end.
  17. Touch 'em Ale, did you say?
  18. Hey! What're you trying to do, burn our retinas?
  19. At such time as his power production becomes so immense that his output is harmed by taking a sure .400 BA by bunting when the infield plays back, I imagine the batting coach will have a little chat with him and get that all straightened out.
  20. Greatest Baseball Player Of All Time? -or- Greatest Athlete Of All Time? I'm on the fence.

  22. My snap reaction to the home run outburst is to temper my enthusiasm: that pitchers around the league will adjust and we'll find out what Byron does in response. But I didn't see the homers for myself until this nice video montage. Three different pitches: a somewhat hanging curve in the middle, a pitch away, and a pitch low and inside. I guess pitchers can try high-and-tight and high-and-away, but it's not like he's currently feasting on just one thing. Whereas, just a little while ago, he was punishing pitchers who pitched him consistently low and away, by poking the ball down to RF for potential triples. And before that, he was consistently getting himself out on those same pitches low and away. No, this looks like a qualitative change in our young hitter - an easy flexibility - and probably reflects some good conversations with hitting coach Rowson. I'm easily impressed, but impressed I still confess to being.
  23. Welp, just got back from being out and about. How much did we wind up losing by?
  24. Tuned in to see what was going on with this hilarious turrible team. I find the score is 1-1. Turning the game off. This season is over.
