    I do not get wrapped up in assigning rotation numbers while top players are still prospects. Sure, many prospects have a ceiling of a #5 for a few years. Anyone better than that, though, is often just one pitch refinement away from suddenly jumping into a rotation as a mainstay for years. And someone a little better than that, such as Berrios and a few others in our system, can be an ace. Or a dud. It just depends on what they do with the opportunity. Berrios can be a #1. In my book. It remains to be seen.

    I was just reinforcing your experience to h20, with my own, that it evidently must have been just him. (Which it later turned out.) I run into the same block when the Twins play in Boston, and simple measures like Roku do not change that.

    I hope Berrios doesn't show any hesitancy to bury his best breaking pitches in the dirt, and trusts his rookie catcher to make the necessary adjustments. Best may be to just avoid putting anyone on base tonight.

    I removed a couple of "bump" posts from old "Buxton is a bust" threads. I don't remember them being a Nick thread, so maybe there were three or more. Apparently great minds all think alike. They had the potential of coming across as gloating. "A little joke", at other people's expense unfortunately. In the case of Nick's article, he can take a little heat, as one of the owners of the site, but the posters who piped up in response on one side of the discussion or the other don't deserve it. If someone bumps up one of their own "Buston" posts for a humorous spin, I would probably feel differently. Dredging up old opinions also has the effect of saying "don't bother to listen to this poster, who has been wrong before." People try to do that in threads frequently, basically a lazy form of argument instead of sticking to a present topic and rebutting a mistaken view. All that does is raise tensions. And we all are mistaken now and then, so if unchecked it becomes a scorched earth policy on all sides. Anyway I informed the poster of the first such instance; I may have gotten tired of it and failed to repeat the effort the next time. And I'll be honest, the above rationale is after the fact - when I saw them I just said to myself, "um, no."

    I'll be presumptuous and offer this rule as the reason: 9.06 Determining Value of Base Hits c: When the batter attempts to make a two-base hit or a three-base hit by sliding, he must hold the last base to which he advances. If a batter-runner overslides and is tagged out before getting back to the base safely, he shall be credited with only as many bases as he attained safely. If a batter-runner overslides second base and is tagged out, the official scorer shall credited him with a one-base hit; if the batter-runner overslides third base and is tagged out, the official scorer shall credit him with a two-base hit. No latitude there.
