  1. Dysentery was always my go-to in that game.
  2. The wind took away a homer from Polanco there.
  3. They have several fewer games than other teams, so counting stats may tell you less than rate stats for a while yet. R/G scored is 3rd in the AL. R/G against isn't terrible either, at 7th in the league. I'll take improvement anywhere it is provided, though.
  4. It probably didn't take many seconds for the equipment to rectify this problem on its own.
  5. It is at Ashbury Estates as well. Come on over!
  6. "Twins Daily: come for the baseball, stay for the Problems In Modern Philosophy roundtable." Thank you for this one.
  7. Was the Shift on, and the first baseman was positioned at the RF warning track?
  8. Certainly. Baseball rules define the strike zone to specify what is and isn't a fair offering to expect the batter to try to hit. It's not to record whether the pitcher achieved what he tried to do. The strike zone is all about the batter, not the pitcher. It's even defined in terms specific to the batter, so that Jose Altuve's is different than Aaron Judge's. By contrast the strike zone doesn't depend whatsoever on whether it's Jon Rauch or Johnny Cueto pitching. Not everything about the competition has to be symmetric.
  9. Frankie Frisch. What a joke of a manager. Finished first once in 16 seasons, back when you only needed to beat 7 other teams. How he ever got into the Hall Of Fame, I can't imagine.
  10. If you hired Dan Rather to ghostwrite metaphors for you... reconsider.
  11. Welp, the computer battery is running low, and so is this east coast denizen come to think of it. G'night all - bring this win home for me.
  12. Borderline Dad Joke, IMO.
  13. Stick with the front side of the baseball card at this time of the season. He's a distinctive looking fellow anyway.
  14. Mejia working efficiently.
  15. He ran himself ragged last night. Let the man get his rest.
  16. b-r.com offers "splits" for any pitcher's season. Here's Odo's for this season so far: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=odorija01&year=2019&t=p Scroll down to "By Inning", and maybe linger on some of the other delights on your way there. Four first inning runs in 3 games. Scoreless seconds and thirds, in 2 games. A run in two fourths. Three runs in two fifths. His page for 2018, with greater sample size of course, demonstrates a 3-inning pitcher to my eye.
  17. 2/15/2000 Elvis Luciano was born. I've got socks older than him. Scratch that - some of my socks have holes older than him.
  18. Well, two good eyes, but you know what I mean.
  19. The wind is a problem tonight. Might be keeping a few flies in the park, but is a challenge to track the ball since the instinct is you never want to get burned. Kepler did well to reach that one.
  20. Oh, you had to ask. You HAD to ask.
  21. Carnac the Magnificent: "Dad Jokes" Ed McMahon: Dad... jokes. Carnac: You got it, daddio. Ed: Your ability to peruse the unperusable is beyond our ability to comprehend. Carnac: Dad gum, that's awfully nice. Ed: And it has nothing to do with the fact that you sign my paychecks. Carnac: Dad rat it, can we just skip ahead and reveal the question? Ed: If you would be so kind. Carnac: (tears envelope, blows into it, removes card) "What are the legal grounds filed when Mom Divorces?"
  22. Well, I seem to recall you talking "marketing speak" at times, so you probably have your Use Cases in mind, with the requisite Personas to motivate them, and I'm sorry to say that retirement-age people probably aren't your Target Market, so I got nothin' that you don't already have.
