  1. With this score I keep expecting to see a parade of Pollyannas streaming through to tell us "they knew it all along."
  2. I wasn't looking, after the first two pitches and a quick glance back when Ruiz got called on a marginal non-check swing. You might have been right and he was sharp once he worked out his landing spot or whatever was bad at first.
  3. Man, Jax's first two pitches had me wondering if he would make it through the inning. Then 3 straight Ks. "Effectively wild," I guess.
  4. I see that Clay Carroll is still alive and I hope enjoying retirement down in Clanton AL. Heck of a reliever for a long time.
  5. His delivery and timing reminds me somehow of Jerome Lester Horwitz*, not that the latter was especially known for jokes and monologues. *Curly Howard of the Three Stooges, just to save anybody a Google search.
  6. Hadn't noticed. Uffda, indeed. I am sure, though, that Diamondbacks Daily is full of helpful and constructive posts that will help the young man find his way forward.
  7. I do feel sad about the whole situation with Corbin, though. The Nationals were trying. Other teams bid, so they had to go high. And for the first season it was a good signing. Then he lost it somehow. But not due to obvious injury - it's not clear he has missed a start the entire time after that first good year. He answers the bell each time, he "owns" it enough to continue in a game like tonight's when it would be easy to find an excuse to walk off the mound. I'll never feel too sorry for someone earning that many millions of dollars, but it remains a sad situation.
  8. "I hope the next Twins batter gets a double. You know, entendre."
  9. I've lately been playing around with asking ChatGPT questions. Tell me a new Flip Wilson joke. ChatGPT: Flip Wilson's humor remains timeless, but since he passed away in 1998, there aren't any "new" jokes from him. However, here's a classic Flip Wilson joke for you: "I told my wife the truth. I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist. Then she told me the truth: that she was seeing a psychiatrist, two plumbers, and a bartender."
  10. Margot, "in play, outs." The world is back to spinning on its axis.
  11. Vazquez at the plate, "In play, no out"???? What in the wide world of sports is going on here?
