  1. They will not lose Levi Michael in the Rule 5 Draft... No way. he could not be "hidden" on a n MLB roster all year long.... What do the Twins see in JR Graham ? at this point, i think he could be removed. I personally, like the additions.... I don't think the Twins would of lost Landa in the Rule 5 , unless of course the minor league portion of it. The only guy i think might be as good as gone is LHP Corey Williams, and im not even too sure about that. who else would be taken ? Michael is not going anywhere
  2. Assuming we get Park, i see the rest of the-off-season going as follows: Plouffe Gets dealt to the Angels to Replace, FA David Freese at 3B For RP Cam Bedorsian and a C+ prospect. And we sign FA OF'er Gerardo Parra for 3 yrs and $30mm opening day lineup: Dozier- RH/2B **Parra- SW/CF/RF** Mauer- LH/1B Sano - RH/3B Park - RH/DH Rosario- LH/LF *Kepler/ Buxton CF/RF** Murphy - RH/C Escobar- SW/SS (if you haven't noticed thats a lineup that might set the Strikeouts RECORD , especially if Oswaldo gets any regular playing time) Key Reserves: UTL Eduardo Nunez, C Kurt Suzuki , SS/CF Danny Santana I see one of Buxton or Kepler starting year with big club and the other in AAA untill June or so.... (unless Arcia mashes and keeps them both in AAA; NOT likely) By signing G. Parra the Twins have the luxury of playing him in which ever spot isnt taken by the prospect.
  3. my view (front office wannabe) Off-Season Moves so far: (scale of 1 - 10 ) {{KEY}} Examples include: Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps = 1 ; AJ Pierzynski for Nathan, Bonser and Lirano = 10. 1) $12.85MM winning bid for the Rights to negotiate with slugger Byung Ho-Kim *on a 3 or 4 yr deal at $15-20MM or less = 7 to a 9 *on a 4-6 yr deal at or near $ 30 MM or greater = 2 2) C - Chris Herrmann to Arizona D'Backs for high A 1B/ OF Daniel Palka = 8 (personally love this trade, best move in a while) 3) OF - Aaron Hicks to the New York Yankees for C Jon Ryan Murphy even with 3 or 4 years of control for Hicks vs 5 for Murphy = 3 (not a fan of the move, Hicks = the next Dexter Fowler , you saw the impact he had for the Cubbies post-season run) I've been saying for 4 years Hicks could be the next Fowler. Like Fowler, Hicks has a great OB% and eye also like Fowler it took him untill his 3rd MLB trial to have success then kind of take off, obviously this is what the Yankees are banking on, he's already as good as Gardner and Ellsburry are right now.
  4. old friend Danny Valencia ABSOLUTELY MASHING he should be Batter or offensive player of the month in not just the AL but the ENTIRE MLB. Good for 'ol danny boy my guess is Kepler squeeks onto Baseball America's off-season top 100 list probably somewhere between 50-100. But i Wouldn't be suprised to see MLB.com leave him off altogether, Jonathan Mayo and Callis and Co. have never been Kepler's biggest fans.
  5. Billy Bullock is essentially what Nick Burdi's most realistic future outcome would be at this point. so in response to the OP of this thread. HELL NO
  6. My choices 1) AJ Achter 2) Eric Fryer (though i wish Pinto was healthier) 3) Logan Darnell 4) Alex Meyer 5) Mike Tonkin 6) Danny Santana 7) James Beresford ....and wait for it 8) JOSE BERRIOS if Berrios does not, than Pat Dean probably will instead
  7. I think its more a philosophical issue than . Simply can the Twins ever hitt again in the 2015 season? Its easy to see that nobody on the team takes walks at a reasonable rate anymore...And are ultimately too aggressive at times. aaron Hicks and Miguel Sano are doing their part in that area, but nobody else on the team seems to understand the importance of laying off pitchers pitches and essentially just not swinging at balls the majority of the time. TAKING A WALK IS THE SINGLE BEST THING an offensive player can do besides an EXTRA-BASE hit (which are rare for anybody) -B/c Since the All-star break its EASY to see Twins hitters are swinging at pitches outside of the Strike Zone as much as they are simply SEEING strikes thrown at them. They've without question had some tough called strikes on borderline ball pitches on the edges of the Strike Zone, that haven't gone their way. WHILE extremely frustrating to endure if you're a Dozier, Mauer, Hunter or Plouffe and you're getting strike 2 on a pitch that looked outside, and you take it. Thats the name of the game. I think its more a T. Brunansky philosiphical thing AND approach in general, than the TEAM as a whole hitting terribly. Lay off Balls, start swinging at strikes ONLY again and the results will come back.
  8. TR HU throws a palm Ball !!!!! darn now the Rays get to see that beautiful pitch in action.
  9. In Contrast, the Blue Jays actually Gave Up LESS, also 2 pitchers ...AND LESS (Alberto Tirado , a good pitcher......and Jimmy Cordero, a terrible reliever) to get Ben Revere then the Twins gave to get Kevin Jepsen. Also you add one more C+ prospect to Hu and Tapia and there you could of gotten Yoenis Cespedes. The tigers only got A baller Caessa and Michael Fullmer from the Mets- two RH'ers also
  10. Berrios > than Hoffman (for now) But I'd say Miguel Castro > than Kohl Stewart. so Danny Santana, And Jose Berrios probably would of been the first 2 of 4 total parts to get Tulo and LaTroy Hawkins here. Just for giggles i'd guess Danny Santana, Jose Berrios, Alex Meyer, and Alexis Tapia is about what it would've taken. I'm glad we're not bringing in Tulo for that haul. although Berrios is the only player of those 4 that has any real future value to me. Who knows the Rockies might of not done that proposaL ANYway
  11. Oswaldo Arcia and Josmil Pinto to the Brewers for Jonathan Lucroy and a C or C+ type of prospect that one.. i could get behind.
  12. For The Often Injured Tulo ? I wouldn't think about offering Gibson or Berrios. My offer Jorge Polanco and Alex Meyer and maybe one other lower level prospect. thats it. No way they get Sano, no way they get Berrios or Gibson and they should know that. ALSO COORS FIELD INFLATES TULO's statistics. over his whole career.
  13. Also people need to temper their enthusiasm on Max Kepler DOWN a bit. Remember Jason Kubel, Michael Restovich, Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau hit like Kepler is hitting right now in the Minors NEARLY EVERY single year in their minors career, before they got to the big leagues. THIS is the 1st Season Kepler has hit like this in his ENTIRE profesional career. MAX KEPLER will be nothing more than a September call-up at best. He's the kind of guy that HAS to see AAA pitching before you can expect anything from him.
  14. I agree with the Bonnes man, I'd say "probably No". If Sano has success in the next 2 weeks? The Twins will trust him. I'm not expecting him to have success however. (not this year) But, Unlike the Buxton decision, I am more behind this promotion. http://mlb.mlb.com/schedule/?c_id=min#y=2015&m=7&calendar=DEFAULT the schedule coming up is nasty, and the Twins are just hoping to catch fire in Sano's bat. If he hits, great, he could help save the season. If he doesn't, we, the Twins might find ourselves 10-12 GB of K.C. and lose ground to the Tigers 5 or 6 GB and probably fall just below the Indians before you know it. GO MIGUEL SANO! and front office, you got this one right, Still NO ExcuseS for the Buxton debacle, in my mind.
  15. Edwin Jackson and Kyle Schwarber (they wouldn't trade Rizzo) For Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano and 40 million dollars? who says no?
  16. RANDY CHOATE TO JOE MAUER sure he's the BEST LOOGY in the game but ALL 4 PITCHES were BALLS Joe Swings at 2 of them, is out on 4 pitches. I"m soo Sick of this routine when he was pissed for getting rung up in the middle innings on A CLEAR BALL he needs to go back up to the DISH next time and not swing at all, SWING less NOT MORE. RANDY CHOATE DID NOT THROW JOE MAUER a single strike in that At-Bat. That is happening at least once a game to Joe now a days.
  17. I'm not a fan of skipping AAA in any cirmustances, but given no Hunter and No Hicks... I can understand the move, although i wouldn't have done it.
  18. LOVE The Cabbage pick in the 4th round, whether he's a SS , 3B , or a 2B i think he can stick in the infielder as a 6'4" hitter with a sweet contact swing and mild power. THE THING IS HE MIGHT be a tough sign, Committed to U of Tennesseee The 3rd Round Pick surprised me, with C Austin Rei and SS Blake Trahan STILL on the Board (Muetuella, Riley Ferrell just gone) Blankenhorn better play up to his potential sooner than later.
  19. I mean, i was hopeing we'd get Bregman or Tucker but with those 2 off the board, my top guy was Tyler Jay. Good Job Twins, and Daz Cameron wanting 5 million is a joke.
  20. I enjoyed the selection of Tyler Jay I honestly went, " YES" when the announcement was made watching on my computer, (mlb network feed on tv was terrible) Normally Jay is the kind of guy that would go in the 12-18 range , but with this draft beings so weak i HONESTLY ThINK it was the right pick. He is Glen Perkins 2.0 maybe he'll be able to start a bit longer than Perkins did in the Majors, before he's turned into a mid or late inning guy. Stay healthy tyler jay and work hard! :-)
  21. the 2016 draft will be better than 08-09 -2010 and probably even 2005. The 2016 draft will be somewhat loaded. If Bregman Somehow falls to the Twins at 6 that is a dream scenrio if you ask me. Hopefully someone picking at 3 or 4 takes Allard or Fulmer , and feels like they need a pitcher badly then its all about the Astros taking Bregman at 5 or not, if they do We're not too happy, if they Don't We take him and RE-JOYCE
  22. Yeah, you're probably right Jeremy, its a shame The Ervin Santana Thing cannot be undone, B/c we would of been picking at what 42-46 or something like that IN Round 2 and could of taken Blake Trahan , and now instead have to wait to pick #73 ( at least we pick in the 80's as well) At this point, I think I'd rather have Trahan to Santana EVEN if we had TO GIVE the Player a 40 Man roster spot Immediately!
  23. If you're picking in the 20's like the Royals or the Angels or somebody like that, there could be OF a plenty available like Stewart (FSU), Happ (Cincy), Plummer (H.S.), Dewees (FL) (though i think D. Dewees falls to rd. 2 ) A target i kind of like for the Twins in round 3 or round 4 would be Blake Hickman, Blake Trahan or possibly Rhett Whiseman
  24. my prediction (s) less than a week out 1. D' Backs - Brendon Rodgers , SS , FL H.S. (has to go in top 3 right?) 2. Astros - Alex Bregman , SS , LSU 3. Rockies - Dansby Swanson , SS , Vandy 4. Rangers - Carson Fulmer , SP , Vandy 5. Astros - Kyle Tucker , OF , FL H.S. 6. Twins - Kevin Newman , SS , Arizona 7. Red Sox - Andrew Bientendi , OF , Arkansas 8. White Sox - Dillon Tate , SP , USC Santa Barbara 9. Cubbies - Daz Cameron , OF , H.S. 10. Phillies - Tyler Jay , LHP , Illinois 11. WALKER Buehler - RHP , Vandy (may be steal of the draft, much like T. Beede last yr) 12. Bryon Hudson , LHP , Illinois H.S. 13. Jon Harris , RHP , Missouri Tech 14. (the texas OF'er H.S. kid) - name escapes me for some reason 15. Cornealius Randolph , 2B , GA H.S. just missed: Brady Aiken, Koby Allard , Beau Burrows, Garrett Whitley, Austin Stephenson, Funkhouser, Binford, Cody Ponce
