  1. About a Month ago, I outlined my ideal and potential Twins' off-season : here goes another rundown of the condensed version . This upcoming Winter meetings 2016: Twins Trade Eduardo Nunez and LHP Mason Melotakis to the Chicago cubs for OF/2B Chris Coghlan (the guy gets on base, the Twins need OB% types, has 1 more year left of arbitration/ control) In Late winter/ early spring the Twins trade Ricky Nolasco (+1/2 the remainning salary) , Oswaldo Arcia , Josmil Pinto, and a ptbl to the Milwaukee Brewers For Catcher Jonathan LuCroy (brewers fill out a back-end rotation spot for only 6 Million a year for 2 years of Nolasco, and Pair Orlando Arcia with his older brother Oswaldo) During the season the trade deadline of 2016 the Twins will trade Tommy Millone and A.B. Walker to the Chicago White Sox for Lefty Jose Quintana my 2016 stretch run to post-season will look like: Byron Buxton - CF (spent the first 3 months of 2016 in AAA) Aaron Hicks -- CF/RF (shifts over) Joe Mauer --- 1B Miguel Sano -- 3B/DH Eddie Rosario -- LF Jonathan LuCroy -- C Brian Dozier --- 2B Chris Coghlan --- DH/ Utility Jorge Polanco/ Eduardo Escobar ---SS leaving::: Kurt Suzuki, Trevor Plouffe , Danny Santana, Kenny Vargas, and potentially Max Kepler all on the bench.
  2. old friend Danny Valencia ABSOLUTELY MASHING he should be Batter or offensive player of the month in not just the AL but the ENTIRE MLB. Good for 'ol danny boy my guess is Kepler squeeks onto Baseball America's off-season top 100 list probably somewhere between 50-100. But i Wouldn't be suprised to see MLB.com leave him off altogether, Jonathan Mayo and Callis and Co. have never been Kepler's biggest fans.
  3. Billy Bullock is essentially what Nick Burdi's most realistic future outcome would be at this point. so in response to the OP of this thread. HELL NO
  4. My choices 1) AJ Achter 2) Eric Fryer (though i wish Pinto was healthier) 3) Logan Darnell 4) Alex Meyer 5) Mike Tonkin 6) Danny Santana 7) James Beresford ....and wait for it 8) JOSE BERRIOS if Berrios does not, than Pat Dean probably will instead
  5. I was most definately NOT a fan of the signing of Ervin Santana...Most Twins fans cheered, although i didn't badger it greatly i was in the "disapprove" camp. Mostly, because of the Money it took to get him here, at 4 years and 44 Million instead of 54 Million sign me up. I wasn't a fan of Hughes' extension either , but Liked or was OK with the original 3 year 24 MM deal he got. However I think the Hughes extension could look smart, as long as he's healthy. The Big Elephant is the Nolasco deal, in which at the time i actually kind of liked it 4 yrs 49 MM ....but Boy was i wrong, HOWEVER , I'm still glad we DID not get Garza after all... its funny to think if we would of been patient enough, we could of had Lester or Johnny Cueto this off-season for roughly the same price it takes of all Santana, Hughes, and Nolasco.... Oooops
  6. ^ ^^ Also i'm guessing we'd have to eat around 3 or 4 Million per year of Nolasco's final 2 years for the Cubs to OK that. so Chicago would only owe Nolasco 8 mm per the next 2 years at around 16 MM that could be a bargain for them. (Nolasco would get to go back to the NL and step in as the teams 5th starter to replace Dan Haren) By doing so we give them a potential dominate Relief prospect in Clay instead of someone like Thorpe or Gonsalves who HAS the potential to be semi-dominate Starters.
  7. I would do it I'd offer Ervin Santana and 2 Mill a year over the next 3 years (thru 2018) Thats 6 Million. and any C , low end C+ prospect they want for Jose Reyes I would also do this in the off-season Eduardo Nunez , (A) LHP Sam Clay , and Ricky Nolasco (owed 24 MM for 2 more years ) to the CUBS for C Miguel Montero ( 2 more years under contract? 7.5 MM per) (the cubs absolutely have no need for Montero anymore with Schwarber and Ross as their primary catchers and from 2016 and beyond they'll have STUD Catching prospect Wilson Contreras ready in AAA. I'd also try to figure out a way to pry LHP reliever Will Smith from the Brewers maybe offer Cotts + Pat Dean back to them in the off-season or Dean + Travis Harrison? next years rotation : Kyle Gibson , Phill Hughes, Trevor May , Tom Millone , And .T. Duffey/ J.O. Berrios next years 'Pen : Glen Perkins, Kevin Jespen, Will Smith, Casey Fien , Michael Tonkin OR Alex Meyer , and Taylor Rogers (rogers as the 3rd dominate against lefties LEFTY) J.R. Graham as insurance along with A.J. Achter and O'Rourke in AAA.
  8. Oswaldo Arcia and Kennys Vargas have to show they can improve in Spring Training and maybe one of them makes the 2016 opening day roster as a DH . Otherwise one or both of those guys could be traded this off-season...
  9. I don't think Kepler gets called up, I don't believe Berrios will either...However Berrios gets the call if Hughes and Millone are still DL'd and if Erv Santana continues mediocrity. Heck if that continues Berrios might be up in late August. My choices/ guesses: Byron Buxton - but not untill sept. 1 Jorge Polanco - not 100% sure, but, either him or Danny Santana Agreed a 3rd catcher (Fryer, Pinto likely) Tyler Duffey - assuming he's still up here anyway Alex Meyer - If may could do the 7th inning thing so well Meyer needs to show he can too. the longshot: LHP Taylor Rogers (with Thielbar getting claimed by the Pads) we need to try out Rogers in a LOOGY role and see if he can be the 2016 replacement to Brian Duensing.
  10. Hopefully Duffey Gets another shot fairly soon.
  11. I think its more a philosophical issue than . Simply can the Twins ever hitt again in the 2015 season? Its easy to see that nobody on the team takes walks at a reasonable rate anymore...And are ultimately too aggressive at times. aaron Hicks and Miguel Sano are doing their part in that area, but nobody else on the team seems to understand the importance of laying off pitchers pitches and essentially just not swinging at balls the majority of the time. TAKING A WALK IS THE SINGLE BEST THING an offensive player can do besides an EXTRA-BASE hit (which are rare for anybody) -B/c Since the All-star break its EASY to see Twins hitters are swinging at pitches outside of the Strike Zone as much as they are simply SEEING strikes thrown at them. They've without question had some tough called strikes on borderline ball pitches on the edges of the Strike Zone, that haven't gone their way. WHILE extremely frustrating to endure if you're a Dozier, Mauer, Hunter or Plouffe and you're getting strike 2 on a pitch that looked outside, and you take it. Thats the name of the game. I think its more a T. Brunansky philosiphical thing AND approach in general, than the TEAM as a whole hitting terribly. Lay off Balls, start swinging at strikes ONLY again and the results will come back.
  12. TR HU throws a palm Ball !!!!! darn now the Rays get to see that beautiful pitch in action.
  13. In Contrast, the Blue Jays actually Gave Up LESS, also 2 pitchers ...AND LESS (Alberto Tirado , a good pitcher......and Jimmy Cordero, a terrible reliever) to get Ben Revere then the Twins gave to get Kevin Jepsen. Also you add one more C+ prospect to Hu and Tapia and there you could of gotten Yoenis Cespedes. The tigers only got A baller Caessa and Michael Fullmer from the Mets- two RH'ers also
  14. Berrios > than Hoffman (for now) But I'd say Miguel Castro > than Kohl Stewart. so Danny Santana, And Jose Berrios probably would of been the first 2 of 4 total parts to get Tulo and LaTroy Hawkins here. Just for giggles i'd guess Danny Santana, Jose Berrios, Alex Meyer, and Alexis Tapia is about what it would've taken. I'm glad we're not bringing in Tulo for that haul. although Berrios is the only player of those 4 that has any real future value to me. Who knows the Rockies might of not done that proposaL ANYway
  15. I'm not worried at all, going into next year Its clear the top 3 guys in some order are: Phil Hughes Ervin Santana and Kyle Gibson with hopefully either a dominate innings eater in Millone or the youngster in Berrios and or Duffey rounding it out.
  16. I'd call the Tribe and ask what it would take to get dominate late inning reliver (maybe 7th if not 8th inning) Jeff Manship Yes, that Jeff Manship If they'd be ok with Caleb Thielbar and maybe Alex Meyer or a Pat Dean and Zach Jones type of a deal i'd do that trade in a minute. May cannot pitch the 7th or 8th inning alone. 1) we need an 8th inning type of reliever than won't mortgage the future too much 2) we need a catcher to help out Fryer and Suzuki Thats it.... Sano is the "added bat" w/ maybe X Buxt adding some life in Sept. And Erv Santana is the "added starter"
  17. I too second Gonsalves > than Meisner Meisner is more like Chih- Wei Hu MR Hu. I would never trade 5 guys for Tulo, thats just silly, take Tulo out of Coors and he looks like Michael Cuddyer playing SS as soon as next year.
  18. Oswaldo Arcia and Josmil Pinto to the Brewers for Jonathan Lucroy and a C or C+ type of prospect that one.. i could get behind.
  19. For The Often Injured Tulo ? I wouldn't think about offering Gibson or Berrios. My offer Jorge Polanco and Alex Meyer and maybe one other lower level prospect. thats it. No way they get Sano, no way they get Berrios or Gibson and they should know that. ALSO COORS FIELD INFLATES TULO's statistics. over his whole career.
  20. Also people need to temper their enthusiasm on Max Kepler DOWN a bit. Remember Jason Kubel, Michael Restovich, Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau hit like Kepler is hitting right now in the Minors NEARLY EVERY single year in their minors career, before they got to the big leagues. THIS is the 1st Season Kepler has hit like this in his ENTIRE profesional career. MAX KEPLER will be nothing more than a September call-up at best. He's the kind of guy that HAS to see AAA pitching before you can expect anything from him.
  21. I agree with the Bonnes man, I'd say "probably No". If Sano has success in the next 2 weeks? The Twins will trust him. I'm not expecting him to have success however. (not this year) But, Unlike the Buxton decision, I am more behind this promotion. http://mlb.mlb.com/schedule/?c_id=min#y=2015&m=7&calendar=DEFAULT the schedule coming up is nasty, and the Twins are just hoping to catch fire in Sano's bat. If he hits, great, he could help save the season. If he doesn't, we, the Twins might find ourselves 10-12 GB of K.C. and lose ground to the Tigers 5 or 6 GB and probably fall just below the Indians before you know it. GO MIGUEL SANO! and front office, you got this one right, Still NO ExcuseS for the Buxton debacle, in my mind.
  22. Bill Smith is still WAAAY WAY "IN" on the decision making fronts. He is still there, alive and all-to well 1. TR 2. Rob Antony 3. Brad Steil 4. Deron Johnson 5. Its between Bill Smith, wayne K. and st. peter/ pohlad just my 2 cents
  23. You guys, don't you see what's going on here? Time to fire Rob Antony, Bill Smith and others that make these kinds of lame duck decisions.......when you call on Buxton as they did (waaaay to early) he wasn't even quite ready to be promoted to AAA yet, and He flails (which he flat out did) There is no excuses Now i've already seen up to and not limited to 1,000 Tweets involving the phrase Byron B-B-B-Buston as in BUST Byron B,B,B,B-B-Buston THE FO has turned Byron into a running joke over night , i mean are they trying to call up every single prospect with any resemblence of greatness from AA or high A straight to the show now ? ; what the hell. i say Brad Steil and Rob Antony and Bill SMith should all be fired.
  24. When Oswaldo Gets called up right after the cubbies series, who gets sent back down to AAA Byron Buxton Right? (first time in AAA for youuuuuung byron)
  25. Edwin Jackson and Kyle Schwarber (they wouldn't trade Rizzo) For Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano and 40 million dollars? who says no?
