  1. I would think DeGrom , Syndergaard, Wheeler, and Harvey would be near un-touchable by Mets Fans' standards...... (remember they wernen't even willing to give up Fernando Martinez or Mike Pelfrey for Johan Santana , they insisted on Phill Humber BOO) That leaves Rafael Montero and Guys like Dillon Gee and Jon Niese, none of whom project as anything more than #3 or #4 staters at this point, The one thing i for-see the Twins having plenty of (its top 2 Sp's we need) Thus, I see this whole discussion as almost a moot point, and probably a bad idea. Just not quite an ideal match in my mind. I'd think about this offer though: Eduardo Escobar Anthony Swarzak and Trevor May or maybe Tyler Duffey or something along those lines (maybe Duffey and someone like A.B. Walker) For Zach Wheeler I highly doubt they bite on that.
  2. 5 years and 15-25 million. I would be extatic. If Cubbies or Dodgers get him i'd be un-happy especially the Dodgers....Cubbies would be my new Fav. NL team , i've always respected them from afar. Opurtunities like this, don't come every year, more like twice a decade. COME ON TWINS!
  3. The Twins are down to 3 guys though. mientkeiwicz , Molitor and i think Lovello of Boston Red Sox.. PLEASE REVISE THIS TWINS FRONT OFFICE PLEASE!
  4. Pay Him 3 Mill + if you have to annually. I praise the lord every day for a moment like this, it doesn't happen very often but if we Hire Maddon for the next few/ or several years.. It would be one of the greatest days of my life.
  5. I have one. For Kyle . Mr Gibson. Kyle, please feel free to tell us what you're real height is, if i'm wrong but, do you feel your height 6'6" .. is a bit of an advantage for being a ground ball guy? Does it definately strike fear or impose some kind of threat to any MLB hitters you have faced thus far? Do you Think you are similar to Rick Porcello , and are you a better pitcher? P.S. Love that you're a Twin and I hope you have a long durable, successful career with the Twins... Should be fun upstarting with this fresh club in the coming years. Thanks (if used or not either way fun and i will be listening)
  6. I fantasize about pitchers such as: Blake Treinen (stud-nobody wanted), Collin McCugh (stud-nobody wanted), Jacob DeGrom, Kyle Hendricks, Tanner Roark, Edinson Volquez.. Someone Like Alex Cobb would be a once in a decade type of developmental pitcher for us. Almost a pure miracle. I'd give up Hughes, Gibson, May, Nolasco, Berrios, Millone + others to have names like that today. but, if our condifedence in developing pitchers and finding them with great scouting wasn't sooo shaken in recent years.....You could of had these guys on the cheap. (all except Cobb) My point is either the Twins need to be damned better about developing pitchers, and scouting them league-wide....or be more creative in finding ways to acquire guys that have already appeared to turn a corner.
  7. I 'm not saying those are 100% the names in place.... but could be a start to the trade being discussed. If you're the Nats wouldn't you LOVE LOVE to get RID of one of the Zimmerman or Werth Contracts? They without- a doubt could use Nunez as a backup, and Duensing relliever from the left side, they get a semi good prospect in Harrison and maybe a bigger name than Gilmartin and Parmelee... IDK May? And the Astros LOVE power they love Chris Carter Types A.B. Walkers Power will undoubtedly have them salivating....that is Luhnow's and Goldsteins MO. Im not saying that trade is perfect either but if ANYONE is interested in Walker as a prospect it'd be the Astros. Do you have anything else more to add Gunarther?
  8. 1) The Washington Nationals Outfield Situation: Harper, Span, Werth (mega deal in-tact) , Taylor , Souza is their future OF and a very good one with those 5 names. Simply put, the Nats have an over-abundance of hitters. Someone will be the first team to jump on a trade with them in the off-season and that team could be the Twins. This leaves no room for LF'er Ryan Zimmerman Trade Proposed: AA- OF , Travis Harrison, UTL Eduardo Nunez, RP Brian Duensing, AAA-SP Sean Gilmartin. for OF/3B Ryan Zimmerman , and P Blake Treinen. (Treinen is a south dakota state alum) 2) The Houston Astros Starting Pitcher Situation: They're willingness or dare i say eagerness to deal arms past the 'on the cusp' phase is their guilty pleasure. Cosart, Norris, Lyles, Feldman ? All gone or will be gone. Their future? Dallas Kuchel, Mike Foltynewicz, Nick Tropeano, Brett Oberholtzer, Mark Appel, & waaait for it Sam Deduno....that may leave Collin "ace" McCugh open for trade. Trade Proposed: AA-SP Jason Wheeler, A+ OF - A.B. Walker , RP Jared Burton. for SP Collin McCugh (intanstly becomes our #2 or #3 starter behind Hughes) 3) The Band is getting back together theory......If no trade is available for a LF'er like a Ryan Zimmerman THEN 1 of Torri Hunter or Michael Cuddyer should be considered on a 1-2 yr deal to play RF (I propose moving Arcia to LF in this scenerio) Cuddyer might be had for 2 years and 14 million (YES 7 Mill a year) other names: JJ Hardy, Frankie Liriano and Garret Jones are available. 4) Stay away from big priced FA's ............... Don't be a deluded Twins fan; James Shields, Jon Lester , and Max Scherzer are not going to get an offer from the twins this off-season. Ervin Santana, Jake Peavy, and others may be considered but i'd rather not touch Peavy nor Santana. I'd be all for actually signing a potential late inning reliever to a 2 yr. deal someone like a Jamey Wright. on the fairly cheap. 5) Stick with the International Interest theme..............2 Semi- big names should be available this offseason including: -OF'er Yasmani Tomas , already ranked #7 on MLB traderumors top FA's this off-season & -SP Kenta Maeda a youthful Asian pitcher with a pretty big ceiling....... To be in the bidding for one of these 2 is one thing...to actually win them. Is probably an entirely different story..... But those are just the 2 Big names......Try to find that Hishashi Iwakuma the diamond in the rough..... with better money attached in the contract.
  9. Jeremy, Thanks and great read....... Man has Tyler Duffey , and even Jason Wheeler helped themselves out a bunch this yr. I hope Minier makes big strides next year. Jeremy if you had to venture a guess of where Minier starts 2015 where would it be? Cedar Rapids? or too aggreesive
  10. Rusney Castillo would have been real nice, but we knew that wasn't happening. A scout, told me He thinks he could be the next Kirby Puckett. Starling Marte Torri Hunter Michael Cuddyer Nick Markakis Shane Victorino i'd rate them something like that.... not sure if all 5 are available though
  11. You could actually make a strong argument that that deal is far more risky and ill-advised for the Twins As Cashner has not stayed healthy, and going from the NL to AL (senior circuit to the big big boys) He might have more of a Nolasco like transition that a Phil Hughes one.. But i'd love a Hughes Cashner Gibson Milone Nolasco rotation going into 2015, with Meyer in the Wings ace and Berrios the Cats' ace waiting in the wings.
  12. In response to others about my previous Andrew Cashner, Starling Marte Fetish. (going back to pg. 1) What is in it for the Padres? Well, frankly did you just see what they got for Chase Headley? essentially nothing and they basically gave away Huston Street.....So you know they could use a solid-reliever . (their gm has recently stated , strangley enough, they were looking for relief help) I'll revise it some. 1) Eduardo Nunez, Anthony Swarzak, Trevor May , Adam Brett Walker + PTBL for Andrew Cashner and S. UTL Alexi Amarista (he can play CF in a pinch and all over the daimond) Seeing Starling Marte has been playing a lot better here in August, I think the Pirates price on him just went back up to where it was last year (My guess is they would not move him at all, and rather be more willing to move Jose Tabata and Travis Snider) Effectively ending any interest we might of had there.
  13. But Seriously, if I'm the Twins i re-sign Dozier long term now, that he will be a little cheaper, i Trade Trevor May, A.B. Walker, and Jason Wheeler to the Padres for RHSP Andrew Cashner. I'd try and make a play for LF 'er Starling Marte of the Pirates......(they have McCuthcen, Polanco, Snider among others) Maybe somthing like Brian Duensing, Josmil Pinto and Trevor May or Tyler Duffey could suffice.
  14. Well that is Simple, if Rox decline his option for 2015 , Well MICHAEL CUDDYER !!!!! <3 :-) no but seriously a 2 year 18.0 MM pact would be nice throw in 500 K + in incentives, we all know Cuddy will probably see 60% of the season actually on the field but it is OK.
  15. i'd be somewhere close to this: 1.) Buxton 2.) Sano 3.) Meyer 4.) Stewart / Berrios 5.) Berrios / Stewart 6.) Gordon 7.) May 8.) Polanco 9.) Rosario 10.) Vargas 11.) Thorpe 12.) Harrison 13.) Burdi 14.) ___Pinto___Pryor___? 15.) A.B. Walker 16.) Stu Turner 17.) Mitch Garver 18.) Max Kepler 19.) Tyler Duffey 20.) Amuarys Minier close calls : Stephen Gonsalves, Sean Gilmartin, Huascar Ynoa, Engelb Vielma, Mason Melotakis, Jason Wheeler, Brett Lee, Fernando Romero, Niko Goodrum, Jorge Fernandez.
  16. how many were there in the "others to watch" section 10 names? Nick Gordon is top 60 ! Cubs #1 , Twins #2 or #3
  17. The Seattle Mariners seemed poised to challenge the L.A. Angels for the 4th seeding in the American League playoffs this year. As the #1 AL Wild Card. They could use a bat with some thunder to help their lineup along. This has been known since lefy Robby Cano signed his mega-deal there in the off-season. They seem more than capable in the Infield with Seager at 3B, Cano at 2B , and a platoon of Logan Morrison and Corey Hart at 1B ....with SS's rotating between Brad Miller and Nick Franklin. Willie Bloomquist is their UTL infielder. Their OF, which needs a boost in a rather big way, would be able to slot the Hammer in LF Immediately; flanking him would be James Jones in CF and Michael Saunders in RF. The M's are really looking for stability in CF......But with no real options out there, They'd be more than happy to Bring In Dustin Ackley off the bench as he's probably more suited for this type of role anyway. Their rotation features a somewhat untested rookie Ronias Elias, the lefty. As Well as Chris Young the towering, but old Right-hander that can't be counted on for much longer IMO. I think with Correia on board, they could go with the King, Iwakuma, Ty Walker, R. Elias/ J. Paxton and Correia in the 5th spot down the stretch. Correia has pitched pretty well over the last month or two and should actually have marginal value right now. Also ESPN is reporting M's want a RH Bat. But also don't want to give up too much. Theres no way the Twins could bring back the following: #1 prospect Taijuan Walker RHP #2 prospect Alex Jackson OF #3 prospect James Paxton LHP #4 prospect DJ Peterson 3B (could be #1 prospect, depending on who you talk to) but maybe one of the following could be had, AAA SS Chris Taylor (22) or Single A Righty Luis Gohara (17), both with huge and promising upsides. Position players Nick Franklin, Stefan Romero, and Julio Morban both currently on their 40 man roster might be in the conversation as well. Franklin is a former top prospect who so far, hasn't done much in Safeco Field. -2 for 1's with the (one) being a prospect are probably rare rare trades, but for Taylor i'd be extatic. IF the bolded red names above are too rich for their blood they have another young SS Ketel Marte and OF'er Austin Wilson who they'd probably be more willing to part with. Neither player is near Chris Taylor but i'd be ok/ happy with both. It might be near impossible to pry Taylor away at this point, as hes only hit .320 in the PCL so far here in 2014, we may be too late on him. If it would take Kris Johnson or some other youthful pitcher (Wheeler, Darnell) instead of Corriea to get him I'd Go all in. Sometimes, as the Cubbies proved the other day, trading in early July rather than Late July only enhances you're value a bit here or there, also It allows US (the Twins) to be the negiotators of a deal instead of waiting for The M's to make a move with somebody else, THUS , limiting our options of who actually wants Willingham's services. (royals?) Win Twins!
  18. GO K-Gib Hopefully, by mid-season or end of year. Our rotation is 1. Gibson/ Meyer 2. Nolasco 3. Gibson / Meyer 4. Hughes 5. Pelfrey
  19. yeah its kinda sad Bartlett Guerrier and possibly even Kubel have ziltch shot at making the 25 man team. Kubel might make it, but clearly on track record.
  20. great article, nice photos! i think 5th spot is shaping up like this: Gibson Deduno Diamond Worley Luckily we'll probably be able to keep Worley in AAA after he goes un-claimed when he is out of options at the end of this spring.....I have a hard time envisioning another club, anyyy club willing to claim him in a few days.... Diamond, unless he really picks it up here late, is probably as good as gone....but thats really ok. I think just ok.
  21. Tell me that when we find a leadoff hitter as good as Ben Revere ...... I'm stil waiting... (might be waiting till past i'm dead) And No Byron Buxton should not be a leadoff hitter (he may have to be)
  22. Getting Nothing for Ben Revere. Essentially Giving Revere away could haunt us for the next decade. Speeed and EVERYDAY leadoff hitter is underrated NO he's not a CF but DH ing Revere or putting him in Left Field next yr..... Willingham's replacement WOULD OF BEEN SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER Nice thing to have in the back pocket. Now here comes years and years and years of Twins mediocrity coupled with sano's elbow injury.
  23. jmlease1 NO and NO . You just contradicted your'self by saying "I see a real need to develop Pinto." In which right before that you stated that You Want Pinto to make the 25 man roster out of spring.
  24. Well then that settles it, THAT WAS QUICK! I'm still looking forward to Twins baseball today! I will get to see the game on TV while its snowing out here! As for Mr. Sano keep ur head up and do you're due diligence and you'll be fine! Here's to hoping the best for the young man, and a good future outcome. If its 10 months from now he's back and ready or even 12 months, the timing will be perfect for next year and probably at AA New Britian after EXT.
  25. Either way it looks like much of if NOT ALL OF Miguel's 2014 is a lost season. Rosario has the short end of it it turns out. Miguel should not play a single game in 2014, if he's not 100% healthy.
